  1. Murfreesboro put in a bid for the tournament... but Chattanooga said coaches told them they liked having different venues. So TSSAA went with that. Personally, I'd rather it be at one venue.
  2. Still... it should just be a 100-yard return.
  3. How can there be more than a 100-yard return? There are no yardage markers in the end zone.
  4. Level of competition means a lot when you are looking at stats. You got to think... Would the kid you want in it put up the same numbers Smith did if they played the same schedule?
  5. Riverdale 3, Soddy-Daisy 0
  6. Only problem in this was I think I read somewhere that if a team doesn't participate in the football playoffs they are ineligible in basketball. I'm not sure if that is right.
  7. Kirk Williams is the kind of coach parents should want their kids to play for. Sure, the team might be down this year. But I assure you it's not because of Coach Williams and/or his offense. Greenbrier has won too many games with it throughout recent years (with and without Herndon). So Greenbrier misses the playoffs for the first time in 14 years. Given their recent success the last thing anyone should do is play the blame game.
  8. There was a small article on 8-man football in general in this week's Sports Illustrated as welll.... about the rise in popularity I believe.
  9. I would say the chance to get everyone on the same course is one advantage. And with the Boro being the central point in the state, it'd cut down on travel costs. If you are so curious, why not call a Tims Ford contact and ask them if they are interested in holding three state tournaments in three consecutive weeks...
  10. Wilson Central does a good job running the press box.
  11. Sam can't play anywhere I believe because he has practiced more than 3 days. I believe once you do that, you are stuck at that school for the season... am I wrong?
  12. So if you think a player was deserving to be on the team, who would you take off? Or should they just keep adding players.
  13. This is Watson's fourth year (school's fourth year) and Lebron's third... and Thomas has been there longer than three.
  14. All-State teams were selected by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association this past week at its summer convention. It'll be out in the next week or so.
  15. Most people charge 5 bucks for shipping unless you spend a set amount to get free shipping.
  16. Would like to see where you know Gaston got an 18... didn't have to have a 19 to be playing D-1-A football?
  17. It's amazing how when it comes to Siegel football things get off subject... So what time is the passing night?
  18. The MAGAZINES ARE IN... Just picked up one today... I saw Murphy at 7-on-7 tournament at La Vergne today. May not be delivered everywhere yet.
  19. He went to a JUCO in Miss. or LA but left after a few days. I believe he is now at Cumberland U.
  20. I thought that was soccer? And didn't the MTSCA game have several media outlets there...
  21. Did Sonny have a great year? Thought he was hurt part of the year or something.
  22. Hasn't the Supreme Court ruled that drug testing of students is legal? Are you saying that students have the right to get high on the weekends and juice up for football games? If they don't, then why don't people have the right to check to make sure they aren't doing that? If I had a child in high school playing athletics, I'd want my son or daughter to be tested. I'd even pay for it myself. It's not because I wouldn't trust them. But I too was a kid once and know peer pressures of kids. Sometimes you have to get off the soapbox of taking away perceived rights for the greater good. I'd say this is a greater good if it was able to stop a problem before it got out of hand.
  23. I have taken at least three drug tests in my lifetime ... all for starting jobs... I never felt like my rights were violated. (passed all of them) Maybe I'm missing something... what's so bad about asking athletes or students to pee in a cup a couple times a year? Or do you want to wait for one to overdose and then blame the school for not being pro-active?
  24. What about 11-AAA at Overton, haven't seen anything about that tourney.
  25. no... they go something like this... if your basketball coach gets ejected from a game and has to pay a 250 dollar fine, the TSSAA takes that money raised and rewards the kids to the schools that did not have any fines. All your school has to do is follow the rules. It's an incentive program.
