  1. I agree with muffin...Gallatin by a couple of touchdowns. This is may be a classic battle by name, but I don't think it will be on the field. I think DC is one of those teams that isn't horrible by any means. They always have good talent year in and year out. But Gallatin just controls the clock all game with the run and takes this one fairly easy.
  2. My head hurts after reading this post. Kind of ironic that a post telling kids to go to school instead of the football field would fail to include any sort of correct English grammar. Seriously though, someone needs to close this topic. Enough is enough. I'm staying out of this from now on.
  3. Actually you are wrong. I have no problem with what TC did. And I have no problem with RBS. They were just playing. Why is everyone blaming Satterfield and the players? If the officials felt it was getting out of hand, then they have the right to call the game or even implement a running clock don't they? I could not find a rule on this after searching, but I would think in a case like this, the officials would not need an ok from the coaches or whoever in order to do make that kind of decision. Of course like someone said, if the TSSAA would just make a "mercy rule" then this wouldn't have been a big deal in the first place.
  4. I know when Gallatin played Blackman, I was absolutely amazed by their band. They were awesome I thought.
  5. Wow...just wow...First, let me say I am not part of the "Trousdale faithful". Born and raised in Gallatin and I am proudly a Green Wave through and through. Yes, I keep up with TC because my dad used to work in Hartsville and I know many people there, so I enjoy keeping up with how they do every year. You just don't seem to get it. I was offended by your Bin Laden comparison as a PERSON. I see in no way how you could even think to make that kind of comparison anyway. Its just completely irrational on your part. And your "reason" why you used the example is just as sad. Second, going along the lines of other 1A schools, I would venture to guess that TC has about 35 players tops. Supposing about 15 of those players make up the 1st string offense and defense (as a few of the top guys will play both ways), that leaves about 20 or so extra guys, which means a very short depth chart. Not much wiggle room there, so what were they supposed to do?
  6. First of all, congrats to Trousdale County. Extremely good year from you guys. I wouldn't expect anything less from Coach Satterfield and the boys. Second, I can't believe all the complaining I hear. First of all, like the school can help who they are put in a region with and what class they get placed in. They played the competition that they were assigned. Thats all they could do. Also, what was Satterfield gonna do, tell his boys to kneel the ball every play? Come on, like ANY coach would tell their players to do somethig like that for an entire half (or longer). I wasn't at the game, but I can probably guess by the score it didn't take too many plays per drive for TC to score. And being RBS, the TC 8th graders would have probably scored at least 50 on them. And bulldog69, did you seriously compare Satterfield to Bin Laden? That is the worst, most uncalled for thing I have ever read on these boards. A completely rediculous (and obviously not well thought out) statement. Finally, TC doesn't avoid the 2A or 3A competition. They played (and beat handily) Smith County. At Smith County. And their other 2 non-region games were against 3A teams Macon County and Livingston Academy. So you might want to check your facts before you try to make a post about something you know nothing about. Ok, I feel better now
  7. Go Green Wave! I wasn't there (since I am 2 1/2 hours away at school), but a friend who attended the game called me as soon as it was over to tell me the score. Sounds like it was no contest to me. Home field all the way through. I guess home field did/will have a bigger impact than some thought.
  8. For Gallatin it has to be Calvin Short. Hands down, no contest. How could you name anyone else?
  9. Thats a joke right? Unless WC has built a new stadium in the last 4 years, then it is one of the worst stadiums I have ever been to. We played Warren County (we were in the same region) when I was in high school and I absolutely dreaded going there. It was VERY run down when I went there. Here's hoping they at least have renovated that place.
  10. Ouch, this one will be ugly. Trousdale Co. could only play 11 guys the entire game (playing both sides of the ball) and probably still post a runaway shutout. No offense to RBS, its just that Trousdale Co. is that good. They must be loving being back in 1A. Isn't there a Satterfield boy playing for his dad again this year (the youngest one maybe?), cause if there is then that spells automatic state championship right there lol. Correct me if I am wrong on one of his boys playing for him this year. My dad no longer works in Hartsville and I am away at school, so I haven't been keeping up with it really this year.
  11. Yes they are. But so is Gallatin, that is what it has been called as long as I remember, and I was born and raised in Gallatin. As many high school stadiums as there are, there are probably more than just Gallatin and Lincoln Co. that have the same nickname. I have seriously never heard of "The Wave Yard" until I read it on here.
  12. I am gonna go with Gallatin winning 28-21. I haven't been to all of the Green Wave's games this year (because I am away at school), but have been able to go to about half of them. The difference will be that Gallatin doesn't turn the ball over much (unlike Overton's 5 last week, including their first 4 possesions! wow!) and they don't commit a ton of penalties. Like I said, this is just what I have seen. Of course, every game I have been to has been a win this year. McGavock may have a lot of speed, but Gallatin can eat up a lot of clock. Which means McGavock's offense isn't on the field nearly as much. The Pit (why is everyone calling it "The Wave Yard"? lol) will be packed this Friday night. and that will also make more of a difference than some people think.
  13. Jaques Williams is playing LB at Tennessee Tech and Jameson Link is a WR at Western KY currently. As for the quality of Sumner County football, I cannot speak for the rest of the county but I do have an opinion on the Gallatin situation (whether you agree with it or not). This years Gallatin team has a lot of talent on defense, but doesn't seem to know which direction to go to exactly on offense. Lassiter is one of the "run it hard and all the time" kind of coaches, and this year has been no different. The big thing I think is that there is no one breakout player like Link who can just flat outrun people. Don't think I am knocking these guys, but I would say that they haven't figured out their best, most effective offensive strategy even this far into the seaon. Also, if you look at the past few years approximately 6 years or so, the Green Wave haven't been playing like the champtionship caliber teams from the late 80s/early 90s. One factor in the last 3 or four years has been the opening of both Station Camp and PJPII high schools. This has taken some of the talent away from the Green Wave and spread it out across more schools. Guys like Bobby Kostadine (JPII QB) would most likely be going to Gallatin if not for those schools.
  14. My mom and dad both went to and graduated from schools that are now closed. My mom graduated from Nashville Central High and my dad graduated from Goodlettsville High. Both class of '63.
  15. The Gallatin paper had an article on Wesley Morgan in today's edition. It is also online. Click here if you would like to read it.
  16. I believe that he is "officially" 7'2". But when I talked to him last, I think he told me he was 7'3". Just an inch, but when you are that tall, I guess it makes a little bit of difference. I graduated with him and have the honor of being his friend. Can't wait to see him play this year!
  17. Heck, as a Vandy fan, I would take 5 wins next year. Anything after that would be amazing.
  18. Jamison Link, QB/DB/KR/PR from Gallatin is also getting high interest from Vanderbilt. He is also being looked at by Louisville and Navy. I'm sure there are other schools watching him, but those are the big 3 that I know of.
  19. Ok, I'm not trying to start anything here. Here is what I know about the JaMichael Douglas situation. I was told this by someone who was close to the situation. First, he didn't have to earn his spot back. He was suspended for the first 2 (maybe 3?) games of the season because he cussed out a coach during camp. Discipline was in order in that case it sounds like. Any good coach would do something similar. He was going to split time in the backfield with 2 other RBs anyway. It didn't really hurt them when he was out. I'm not trying to badmouth him, he was the best RB we had this year. But, he didn't lose anything that he did not take away from himself because of his actions. And I wouldn't exactly call 6th WR (or whatever Shipley was) a good position. You act like they let him start every game or something and treated him like a superstar. It's public high school football. Everyone gets a "position".
  20. If Gallatin does indeed have next Friday night off, I am interested in the White House @ Hillsboro matchup. I think it will be a good game. Plus it has a Sumner Co. team in it, and its just in Nashville.
  21. my fault. thanks for the clarification. I'm not a lawyer and don't plan on being one. Just my take on the situation
  22. If this stupidity about the house is indeed true (you probably know more about the explanation than I do, since I didn;t know this), that the biggest cop out of all time. If she and her husband were not divorced or even still in the process of divorce or separation, she probably COULD NOT sell the house. It's a little thing called community property. All that depends on if the deed to the house had her name on it. If it didn't then she could sell what was not her's anyway. But if both she and her husbands names were present on the documents, she still couldn't sell. If he did not want to sell, or he is still living there, there is nothing she can do about it. I smell lawsuit! I hope the T$$AA enjoys it's last days in it's present form, because they might not exist after all is said and done. Opperman, I think that would be funny, and would serve the T$$AA right. But I think it would be a lot more fun to see Gallatin go out there and beat Beech really bad. No offense with that last statement CH. I assume that you want your team to come out and win just as badly. I, like many others, appreciate your comments. Good luck to you all tomorrow night. As for bringing lots of people, don;t be surprised if some have to come sit on the home side. Because I doubt that there will be any room left on the visitors side.
  23. Basically, you have the center lined up over the ball, a qb (and rb in most cases) behind him. I have seen this in shotgun 95% of the time. One or 2 receivers (one in Gallatin's case)to one side, the rest of the offensive line, WRs, TEs, on the opposite side. By that I mean between the sideline and hash marks. As long as you have 7 men on the line, it is a legal formation. QB can either hand the ball off, run it himself (as there is usually 1 person blocking, or throw it to the WR, who will usually have half the endzone to work with. Because all the offensive guys on the other side will "swing out" like a gate to block everyone on that side. Hence the name swinging gate. The lone WR is usually in man coverage.
  24. Gallatin runs this at least once a game. If they don't, they line up like they are going to. I don't think it has been stopped at all this year. If it has, it has probably been only once. We ran it against McGavock, and they acted like they had never seen or heard it before in their lives. Do they never watch game film? The closest guy to the receiver on the right was a couple of yards to that side of the center, if that.
