  1. Where is this district tournament? Region too for that matter?
  2. You were up by 1 point with under two minutes in the game and this Z was in the game. What more do you want? The wheels came off your cart because of your guards and lack of experience.
  3. From a Lipscomb fan, I would like to say that you are a great bunch to play against. You were very well coached and played like true sportsmen. There is nothing like a great hard-hitting clean football game. You have my respect as well as a great number of other Lipscomb people. Your seniors have laid great groundwork for you. With the coaching staff that you have your future is very bright. I look forward to other great games with you guys in the future. Best of luck to your seniors as they move forward in life.
  4. Back to the game, Spring Hill ran all over the Lomscomb front the first time. Don't you think they've been working on perfecting that attack? How in the world is Limscomb going to stop it this time? On the other hand, Spring Hill defense is hoping they get to see the Lipscomb punter this game. You only scored 15 points! How exactly is it that you "ran all over" Lipscomb's front? You could double the points you scored the first time and it still will not be close. The thing I remember the most about that game is that Lipscomb ran 12 different backs in the game and you didn't stop any of them. The punter will be very tired at the end of the game; but, only because he is the middle linebacker and tight end. I wouldn't count on too many punts. He hasn't punted 20 times the whole season long.
  5. Well I'm going to disagree with a lot of people on here. I think Lipscomb wins by four or more touchdowns. Spring Hill is not the only team to have improved since late September. When we played the first time our most explosive running back was nursing a bad ankle. Our quarterback was in the process of coming back from a dislocated shoulder. Both are healthy now. Defense has been partially revamped for the better since that game. Offensive starters only played basically two quarters and defense just short of three quarters in that game. Now that I think about it more I say five or more touchdown margin of victory for Lipscomb. If I'm wrong, you'll see me back on this thread giving kudos to Spring Hill.
  6. You beat an awful Page team and all of a sudden you are worldbeaters? You're not playing Page again this week. Lipscomb by four touchdowns.
  7. It's always good to have Greenbrier week. We'll be glad to have you guys in the house this week. It's always good to play another well coached team. We have never played in week 0 before. We always wait until week one and play our game where you just sort of look blah. Having gotten that out of our system (I hope) we usually make a lot of improvement between the first two games. Most teams do. It's just we have always played Greenbrier where they got to make those adjustments and we had not. Still the games were very close. I doubt GB will hold us to one touchdown as they have each of the last two years. I picture a close game until second half when Lipscomb could very well pull away for a 14 or so point win.
  8. This is sort of an apples and oranges comparison. You have to remember that the Atlanta metropolitan statistical area has about the same number of people as the entire state of Tennessee. I once read in a high school sports mag in Georgia where a major college coach said that if he could get everybody he wanted to recruit in the Atlanta area every single year he would give up the rest of the country. That sounds bold; but, that's what the guy said. One thing is very different in Georgia. Private schools do not dominate the football playoffs. In their five classes, only four schools even got as far as the second round last year. Only two of those got to the third round and both lost. Fourth and fifth rounds were clear of private schools. Georgia also applies a multiplier. I think theirs is 1.4. However, they didn't even really dominate before that.
  9. Lipscomb does have a lot back this year. Senior class last year was as small as I remember in 20 plus years. Binkly is not one of them though as prior poster mentioned. He will be missed; but, the outside linebacker being pushed to the middle has already heard from several SEC schools. Backfield with Elrod and Holt will probably be as good as anyone in 3A. Elrod's stats will probably go down this year. It has nothing to do with any diminished abilities or injuries. Holt is that good. New quarterback will have to come through for them. Somebody will have to step up as the kicker. Defense will be undersized but incredibly quick and fast. This defense could rival the 94 team if they come together with purpose. If White House can dominate Lipscomb I will be know that Blue Devil Pride will be soaring this year.
  10. Who pitched for Lipscomb? From what I saw he pitched three guys that don't pitch much. I just don't know if there was anybody before #9. I saw #9 throwing and then the two ninth graders that play short and third. Anybody else? Obviously, pitching off the regular rotation. Ezell probably did the same thing. Rain can sure mess you up.
  11. What makes this time different than the previous four attempts this year?
  12. If this championship game went to 12 innings, what time did it finish up? I left as it started raining for the third time. It was headed into the bottom of the third at 9:05PM. What pitchers did Lipscomb have to use? Baumgartner was still in at that point and had not given up anything.
  13. What does the schedule for today, Thursday the 11th, look like? Are all games still at Lipscomb University? How has this tournament been going?
  14. I'll agree with that. They are probably not as good offensively as they were last year. However, the pitching is probably just as good and a little deeper than last year. Fielding will be a real key for this team to be able to do much in the playoffs. They are very young. Only three seniors in the field and a fourth as DH. For the second year in a row several starters elected not to play baseball for various reasons.
  15. This seems like the exact same story we heard last year. That was just before Lipscomb outscored the "competition" 41-3 in four games in Memphis.
  16. Lipscomb starts two freshmen most of the time. TJ Hoelzer at shortstop and Zach Rogers at third. Both have done a good job and have bright futures. They have a third freshman, whose name eludes me. Started at least one game on the mound and no hit Hume Fogg.
  17. I would agree with earlier posts that the Slater kid looked better in this one game than Kemp did. If you look at the underlying skills you understand why Kemp has signed with #3 Memphis and the Slater kid will sign with a mid-major program after next year (he is a young junior, just 16). I watched Kemp all thru warmups and he shot great. In the game, he never really got many shots. Probably because we couldn't guard Chish at all and he didn't have to try. Only remember him taking three shots in the half-court offense and he got fouled on two of them (converting all four free throws). He did make five steals guarding the two guard which he converted to layups. Total offense of 14 points. I was disappointed to see that he did not guard Slater on defense. Josh Slater makes the entire Lipscomb offense go. If he can't penetrate, we do not get many open jump shots. He did this fairly effectively. He shot good but not like he can. Number 23's defense had some to do with that. He did lose one three that he hit because of a foul underneath as the shot went off and uncharacteristically missed four or so free throws. Total offense 15 points. He also had to leave the game twice because of blood. Slater did guard Kemp most of the time he was in the game.
  18. Congratulations to MLK! Who was all-district in the regular season? Who made all-tournament team?
  19. LA coach did not just step out of the box to change his defense. He came out of box on the prior trip down the court to protest a block call when the Slater kid from DL scored and was fouled. He was not overly vocal towards officials at all. Problem for him was he stayed out by scorers table. The official in question did motion for the coach to go back to the box as teams were going down the court. I do not think that he said anything; but, could not tell for sure as LA was going down the court fast. LA kid charged and it came back up court in short order. Coach was still pretty much in the same spot. After DL had stalled for a minute or more is when the ref T'd the coach up. He was still basically in the same spot by the scorers table. The coach was not being a pain to officials at all; it just looked like he got caught up in coaching and forgot where he was on the court. He was clearly trying to change up the defense. He simply had been where he was not supposed to be for too long. LA should complain more about the charge on Matthews kid on prior trip down court. It was his fifth. It was one call in the game that was questionable. It was a fun game to watch. Lots of speed from both teams. Majority of the game was essentially played with ten guards on the floor at a time.
  20. Yes, it would be a shame for everyone involved. Well over 100 players on these two teams struggled a lot to get here. It would be nice to have cool crisp dry weather for them to decide the matter. Shame for all the fans too. I sat at Greenbrier in the rain and the early part of one home game. Not a lot of fun.
  21. Winner of this game could potentially be the team that handles the forecasted weather the best. That would be a shame for everyone involved.
  22. Is Cates the only player that will be quicker on turf?
  23. My guess is the soft schedule finally catches up with Notre Dame. Livingston gets the win here by 9.
  24. Catfish, I'd say that was fairly well said. Seldom do we have a kid play in college. It's all about coaching if you don't have incredible athletic talent. I have observed that the public schools that have great coaching staffs also win all the time. Witness - Riverdale, Trousdale Co., Alcoa, Maryville, Milan, Fulton, Hillsboro, should I go on. I look forward to a rivalry with Cheatham Co. in the coming years. You guys are well coached. We are well coached. We should have some great games.
  25. At this point, it really is a toss-up on who is more of an imbecile. Could it be Capt. Truth; or, is it bulldog69? Neither seem to be able to stay out of a Lipscomb thread or say anything of remote value. You be the judge. Maybe this would be a good poll question? This question has as much value as their comments!
