  1. Well your "freshman" QB is off and running. He is all he is advertised to be. The Lions should do very well. Westview has potential but i need to see them play 2 or 3 more games before making a call. It was good to see huge improvements in the kicking game, something we lacked last year. Same kid but you can tell he has worked his tail off during the off season. What a game to kick off the season.
  2. After seeing JCM scrimmage Westview and Milan in the Henry County Jamboree, this guy has no clue.
  3. From what I seen, read, and heard (I know hear-say won't hold up in court). I have talked to some people close to the Dresden program and they believe your skills people are very talented but there are questions about your line. From reading on Coach T, line play is still a, concern. I also read a freshman is starting at QB. I understand he had a great career in middle school and he has got a great pedigree. He could start playing great on that first Friday night but the odds of that happening are not good. Now after 3 or 4 games it could be a different story. The same holds true for your linemen. My son's last year at Westview was over 10 years ago so I don't have a dog in the fight, I try to be objective. I did see the Chargers scrimmage JCM. Some say JCM has turned the corner, maybe maybe not. I was impressed with what I saw. They are way ahead of what they have been in the past 2 years. Although their QB is not great, he is steady and provides good sr leadership. The line has experience and handled both sides of the ball in their 2 scrimmages, Backs showed good speed, followed blocks and were hard to bring down. The kicking game is way way better than last year. Now would I give you 21 and bet....I am crazy not stupid. If your guys had 3 or 4 game under their belt, I would have to reevaluate that spread. Westview needs to be motivated to win and make a statement. Even if that happens we still won't know what we have until midseason. If your guys win, Westview will not be able to compete in their 3A district. Now if you lose, you got beat by hopefully a decent 3A team and you move on. I have been wrong many times in the past and many more to come in the future. One thing I do know.....it is football time in TN. Good luck to us all.
  4. Call me crazy and you will, Westview by 3---Touchdowns
  5. Look at those numbers again. The View has a big edge, but I am reasonably sure we have not played Dresden every year for the past 21.
  6. Butchie, we ain't got a chance, but I guess I will have to showup for the whippin. I think I will go to Rebel land and watch the Rebs and the Lions battle it out. Got good food there too. By the way I do enjoy your post.
  7. I have to agree with you Butchie. I think we just need to give you the W and move on to Milan.
  8. Where are you getting your Westview info? You need to check your sources.
  9. I apoligize to Volqueen. Your post sayed common opponents and you are correct. Sorry about that.
  10. I don't know about Milan's stats but you are way off on the View. Defensive stats are correct but the the View has scored 347 points not 217.
  11. It probably would have made a difference. But our backup QB scored two TD's. How many did your's score? I hated to see your QB hurt and I agree it was a game breaker. But good teams expecting to go deep in the play-offs need to be lucky in avoiding the injury bug or have some depth past the first eleven. Up to this point the View has been fortunate but who knows what the next play may bring. I understand your QB may be back in 3-4 weeks. I hope so. It would be fun to play you guys further down the road. I really think this is a pickem game everytime we play. If we play again win or lose I want to play your best. Take care of business and win your region.
  12. Huntingdon, Humboldt, and Peabody will be very unlikely to move to Class A regardless of the enrollment. Schools can choose to play up if they so choose. These schools know a move to Class A would hurt their programs. You play to the level of your competition. Mckenzie has helped themselves by scheduling good non-region games (you better get rid of Dresden) . Schools that are on the classification bubble suffer if they get bumped up and down. Ask Peabody. I took time for them to recover from their 1 A experience. A former coach told me they would not make that mistake again. The 2006 classification shows Peabody and Huntingdon with 15 more students than Union City. These schools seem to be able to compete. Trenton will be a good measuring stick for the Rebels.
  13. You need to invest in a new clock!
  14. WOW This is awesome. This is the first time I've gotten to post with the big guys. I've been hanging out on the A, AA and AAA forum. Our first two games have been with single A teams ( JCS just pretends to be AA). All I have heard is how deep we are, and how big we are, and how fast we are because our enrollment is SO much more than single A. Well the shoe is on the other foot now and I say strap on the headgear and lets play football. Henry County will be a great measuring stick for the Chargers. The Patriots may be the best team we will face this year. Depth has been a factor in our first two wins but this Friday I have to give the depth factor to HC. I think our speed was a factor in our wins, not that we are fast but Union City was just plain slow and JCS was just not "athletic". I suspect HC has some speed. Our lineman on both sides of the ball were much bigger than our previous opponents. We won't have the same mismatch at HC. Westview will have a steep hill to climb Friday night. We will face the same situations our 1 A friends face when they step up to AA. I look forward to a new measuring stick. We base our progress on the Milan and Huntingdon games, basically the same teams every year. Are they really that good every year or are they just king of the same hill every year? Anything can happen on a given Friday night. Don Coady will have the Chargers well prepared and he will get all he can get out of his players. I hope this is a good game and maybe the View can will....but it could get ugly.
  15. I am a huge Charger fan but I think the Chargers will have a steep hill to climb. HC will be the first good team we will have to face and possibly the best team we will see this year. Our depth was a factor in our wins over two single A teams (yes I know JCS is now AA) and I think depth will be a factor in the HC game. In this case it will be advantage Patriots. The View also is not blessed with speed, I am not saying we are slow but we don't have the jets we have had in the past. I suspect HC will have some speed to go with size and depth. As Frank Underwood would say "Make no mistake about it" Don Coady will have the Chargers well prepared and he will get all he can get out of his players. Anything can happen on a given Friday night. I hope it is a good game and Westview might win...but it could get ugly.
  16. WestTnFootball and UCdiditagain: You guys must have been to a different Westview-UC game than the one I attended. 49-7 with the mercy rule enforced with 10 minutes left in the game and your not just a little impressed? You guys are not really serious about that scrappy bunch turning some heads are you? I know Westview has "Thousands" of students more than UC but Huntingdon and Peabody don't have many more students than UC and they seem to be able to compete. One problem is that you dropped down to one of the weakest Class A regions (if not the weakest) in the state and boys it has taken every bit of 2 years to play down to your competion. So much for your domination in Class A. You guys are hoping to be number 4 in the region just to make the play-offs. It used to be fun to play UC because when we would occasionally find a way to win it really meant something. You turned my head tonight because the Tornados are fast approaching homecoming material. I hate it. You guys should be better than that.
  17. You must not have been at the Westview-UC game. I the only thing I see is UC playing down to the level of most of their region opponents.
  18. Just curious, How was the attendance for this game? I have heard UC's fan support has dropped since reclassification.
  19. Sorry but stoppage did occur during the sudden death period. The Madison goalie was injured and was attended to for a number of minutes.
  20. I am a huge Charger fan and I have to admit that Peabody got hosed tonight. It was most certainly the refs fault!
  21. Westview should be the favored team with good field conditions. But chances are good that the field will be wet maybe even sloppy. Westview's speed may be negated, therefore all bets are off!

    OC vs Trenton

I had an opportunity to see the replay of the OCCHS and GCHS game. I also attended the Westview , Obion game. It's no secret that the Rebel defense has and will probably continue to struggle this season. The Rebel offense was very impressive against the Chargers: however the key to the Rebel offensive set is the talent of their sophomore qb. After he injured his wrist in the second quarter Obion certainly was a different team. If this wrist injury sidelines the qb for 3 weeks Obion may lose out. I know this is a disappointment to players and fans because the Rebels are much better than their record will indicate.
  23. Chargerman are you a complete idiot? I am a huge Westview fan and I saw this kind of post from Mustang fans---Mustangs 49-Chargers 0---and we know what can happen. Dresden can and will beat us if we are not focused and ready to play.
