    MUS-MBA

MBA looked better Saturday as anticipated, and after reviewing the scores from MUS' first two games, it looks as if they have picked up right where they left off last season. This match up has become one of the premier rivalries across the state, and I look forward to it as I wasn't able to see either of last year's games being they were in Memphis. Both contests were close, and MUS proved to be the better team. Both schools are rich in tradition, well coached, and will be well prepared. It should make for another exciting DII-AAA game!
  2. BA did look sloppy against Ravenwood as it was not the best game to view, but they found a way to get it done in the end. Turnovers are costly in any game, and I don't anticipate the Eagles making the same mistake two Friday's in a row.
  3. Where does this thread mention BA and why are you so interested in BA's silver balls? I thought this thread was to discuss MBA vs Trinity. If you want to talk about BA, start a new thread. As for MBA, they will be fine. Last week's game is over, and I am sure they have moved on. there is no doubt that MBA learned from it and will play a much better game against Trinity.

    Team Tennessee

Coaches are selected by the TBCA Officers and Regional Directors, and players may be nominated by a coach affiliated with the TBCA. Selections are made based on recommendations, evaluations, and additional information received through follow-up work by the coaches assisting with the team.

Matt Packer was also selected to the All-Tournament Team.

  9. The Miller kid is a special player and a fine young man. Ole Miss signed a classy, young man who will well-represent their school and program both in the classroom and on the field. This is a fun and interesting topic to discuss, and in some cases, a difficult choice. Miller is their glue and would be a very well-accepted choice. However, what about Lea and his two performances? If the opposing team ain't hitting, you got to look at the individual on the mound. He may not have been their MVP throughout the year, but he just have been for the State Tournament.

    Div 2 next year

Division 2 will continue to be competitive despite the graduating of some fine players across the state. If you look at the 8 schools who participated in the State Tournament, most return a core group of players. One team that that stands out in my mind due to the number of underclassmen (especially sophomores) they played is Evangelical Christian School. If you look outside those teams that participated, the team that seems to lose the most in terms of players is Baylor. This was a school that played a number of (talented) seniors this past season. With all that being said, four teams to keep an eye on next year are: CBHS, McCallie, ECS, and Knoxville Webb.
  11. The following are some other solid pitchers out of D2 schools this year: Matt Ridings (BGA) Shay Crawford (Harding Academy) Michael Park (Memphis University School) Kyle Nichols (Briarcrest Christian School) Houston Brown (Evangelical Christian School)
  12. If you have a problem with the current process, contact your regional director and let him know. It is my understanding the regional directors meet prior to the TBCA Clinic, and I am sure such concerns would be discussed and considered accordingly. The fact that it is creating such a stir says a great deal about the importance and support of this event. It is by far the top showcase across the state, and this is the reason why so many players want the opportunity to participate.
  13. Again, I am sure there is a reason such a shift was on, and I fall back on his scouting report and the confidence in his pitcher to locate. All teams hit a bump in the road, and that bump may not come at the time we would prefer, but the bottom line is Covington is still playing while other teams are not. This opportunity is possible because of both the players and their coaches. They work hand in hand, and this group should not question Geno's decisions because whatever decisions he makes have been well thought and are in the best interest of the team. Does it guarantee succcess? Not every time. But 31/37 times ain't bad!
  14. Covington has had a fine season, and it's hard to argue a 31-6 record. Geno is a fine coach, and I don't question the decisions Geno and his staff makes as he is very thorough in his scouting reports. The boys will be fine, and I expect Covington to win tomorrow versus Mitchell as well as have continued success in the Spring Fling!

    Mikie Minor

If he pitched 10 innings, I would be very interested as to how many pitches he threw. Winning is one thing but taking care of the young man's arm should be of great priority.
  16. Cordova and MUS played in the Championship of the Pepsi Challenge, and MUS won by a score of 5-0.
  17. Any scores from last night's games?
  18. Stout is a special player who will have a positive impact on Baylor Baseball this spring. He's flown under the radar screen but I think people will see his DI ability very soon. He's team oriented, plays hard, and loves the game. As well, Stout is multipositional and from what I saw a solid P. I look for him to have big year for the Red Raiders.
  19. Simpson, Greene, and Stout will do well for Baylor. These three can pitch against anyone and give their team a chance to win.
  20. I think a player to keep an eye on will be William Stout, a senior transfer at Baylor. His impact should best be seen on the mound and defensively.
  21. Stout will be an excellent addition to Baylor. He's a mulipositional player who also pitches. Baylor got a special player, and he should add alot to their squad.

    D2

One SS to watch in D2 is William Stout at Chattanooga Baylor. My understanding is that he is a transfer from Memphis University School who also pitches. He should be a welcomed player for Coach Etter and an impact player for the Red Raiders.
  23. I would like to see Nashville follow suit; time will tell. Any highlights from today's game?
  24. Based on what I saw, I think Briarcrest will do fine. They have the athletes to compete, and I agree with itzme that the Saints will have to come ready to play each week. I don't see them moving up and being the top of AAA in 2005 as they were in AA this year, but they will adjust and be an opponent to recognize. Briarcrest's ability to have an overall record of .500+ in AA was never in doubt, and therefore, participating in the playoffs was almost certain. This is based on the number of times they have participated in the CB over recent years. By moving up to AAA, this will put more emphasis on not only their regular season scheduling, but I believe all AAA teams. It's a good addition and makes for an even more competitive division!
