  1. Sorry to say but AC won't be in the semis
  2. Hey is Pat anything like Waldo -- Do I just look for the bright orange and white striped sweater?
  3. My basic rules for game management are as follows: 1. Anything goes until at least halftime no matter what the score. My first priority is to win/put the game away. 2. If I have a team down by 20 or the game is in control I will sub out my first team when the opposing coach subs out her first team. Basically, when the opposing coach concedes the outcome I will clear the bench but not until then.
  4. 30 is a double digit [Edited by Daggerkyak on 2-7-03 4:58P]
  5. I believe it's a uniform policy -- if anderson county is out of school for weather then no games take place involving county teams.
  6. Basically across the state middle schools are broken down into areas. Example Area 1 Upper east TN -- Area 2 - Campbell, Scott, Anderson, Union, Morgan etc. (For an area breakdown check the TSSAA website) It is up to the coaches in each area to divide into districts or not. In area 2 we have a large school / small school classification. We play our regular season and at the end we set up a distict tournament for each classification. From there teams can advance to the sub-sectionals and sectionals with there being an eventual sectional champion from several areas combined. In East TN we combine Areas 1 - 4. There is no magical state champion but you can win in essence what is a regional championship. Logistically it would be impossible for middle schools to have a state championship. It is a great reward for our kids and it gives them something to build on for the future. Plus we play teams that they will face when they get to high school. This is just the nuts and bolts of it and it may work differently in other parts of the state but this is basically how it works in East TN.
  7. I think the Lady Mavs will close the gap at home. The game will be exciting to watch, but will there be an emergence of a go-to player, such as Abby Jo, who can get them over the hump? The three freshmen, Worthington, Forbes, and Bryant, could play a key role in deciding the who gets the win. Laura Hall will be too tough for Kingston to counteract. This will be a big Roane County Win for Oliver Springs.
  8. I can say without reservation, that at least 2 if not 3 of East Tennessee's top freshmen are at ACHS. Alyssa Bryant and Ashley Worthington put on an outstanding performance in the freshmen tourney last week. Bryant scored 16 pts in the championship game and hit the game winning shot against William Blount, while Worthington continued a string of strong perfomances with 17 in the championship game. If you add Rachel Forbes into the mix along with the girls from LCMS the future looks bright at ACHS. [Edited by Daggerkyak on 2-3-03 6:00P]
  9. We would love to play OS. Maybe next year they can get in on the large school scheduling. Playing teams such as Jefferson, OS, Jacksboro, etc. does nothting but prep our kids, at Norris, for high school. Anything we can do to get them ready is a bonus. At ACHS right now, I think, you're seeing the effects of not playing the best in years past at the middle school level. The Lady Mavs are building and have a good foundation from last year's team at Norris. Plus we didn't fair that badly this year with an overall record of 10 - 7 and starting anywhere from 3 to 4 seventh graders. As an added bonus we could have "OLD HOME NITE" for Matt and do a bobble head doll. [Edited by Daggerkyak on 2-3-03 10:09A] [Edited by Daggerkyak on 2-3-03 10:10A]
  10. How does the tallent pipeline look for the Lady Mavs in the upcoming years? How do the teams from Norris and Lake City compare with others across Anderson County?
  11. Maybe Misty can build a solid program eventually, and I hope she is given the opportunity. THE ANSWER along with that other guy, did a good job last year with the tallent they had at Norris and hopefully the girls will be successful. They deserve it! Bryant can be a solid, if not spectacular player, as can Worthington and Forbes. Those three, with the girls from LCMS, are a strong foundation to build on, but I guess as the old song goes, "Only time will tell". [Edited by Daggerkyak on 1-31-03 11:44P]
  12. Amazing isn't it!? AC picks up its first district win in two years with a good effort at Scott Co. and then walks into the lion's den at OS and lays an egg. Now how do the Lady Mavs respond when they walk into the Dragon's Lair tomorrow night? Only THE ANSWER knows. [Edited by Daggerkyak on 1-31-03 10:41P]
  13. After having torn both the right and the left acl, I would recommend the allograf (cadaver). I had the autograf (patellar tendon) done on both and if I had it to do over again I would change my mind. As far as doctors KOC has the most widely known but not necessarily the best. 14. I'm not saying that the officials didn't make a mistake or use poor judgement, that happens all the time. Have you ever been to a game in Campbell County or in Union County? And I agree that the officials need to enforce the rules uniformly and fairly, but somewhere down the line what we should be teaching the kids is that it is not just about winning and losing. All my players understand that you have to be in control of your emotions to be fully focused on the task at hand to successfully execute the gameplan. When you are a "loose cannon" what good can you do for your team? Someone throwing a punch, whether it's called or not, is someone who's not helping her team and that's where the coach must intervene.
