  1. Not sure about him coaching boys, but he was an assistant girls coach at UTM before taking the Westview job.
  2. If Summertown can play with Community and be in a tie game with 2 minutes left to play, I would say this, along with the other big games they have won so far clearly puts them at the top in the district.
  3. Good win for them Friday. Maybe it is just taking a little while longer than expected for the new players to learn how to play with the team.
  4. Always impressed at how well this district can score. Most teams aren't fortunate enough to have kids that can consistently put the ball in the hoop. Pickett county shoot with amazing precision and confidence.
  5. I thought you said it was the refs making them take off the headbands that caused them to lose. Now it was the foul calling? No need to keep bringing up their loss from last year in substate. The best team doesn't always win or else there would be no need to play. Gibson has a phenomenal team this year, very experienced, fun to watch, and undefeated. Leave it at that. Compliment what is happening NOW because every time someone has an opinion other than yours, you start bringing up old games or making excuses. Nothing wrong with having a difference of opinions on here; that's what makes Coacht fun.
  6. Very true, burn. Guess my reply did seem a little unnecessary. I do want to ask any Chester county folks why they have lost 4 games, all to Single A schools, if they were fortunate enough to get 4 transfers that according to the jackson sun should be helping them be tied for the 2nd spot in the district? They have an established and successful coach and her daughter is one of the best juniors in west Tennessee so doesn't seem to make sense.
  7. Obviously from the Perry County/ Riverside score, riverside is terrible this year. I bet Frank Hughes picks up the win at home and riverside doesn't win 10 games this season
  8. Have had the pleasure of watching several games last year but not as many this year because the season just started. No matter how ridiculous the calls, the players should never be allowed to question the referees authority. You certainly don't want the Perry County winning tradition to be replaced by one where the players are remembered for complaining. Unfortunately in the world of basketball, it only takes one or two incidents to change the public opinion of a school, even after years of excellent behavior and tradition.
  9. Perry county boys are too consumed with complaining about any calls the referees make instead of just playing basketball. Always surprises me to see what a coach will tolerate from players on the floor in order to win.
  10. There is a reason the X coach is no longer employed in the school system. Can't imgine RHS would give him a 3rd chance to get fired/resign.
  11. So this thread has quit being about mchs and chhs and all their transfers and is now about Southside ans Gibson co?
  12. I am usually a silent Coacht member and almost wish I had refrained from even posting because it always comes down to "he said , she said" comments and petty arguments. With that being said, to keep from sounding like I am calling anyone a liar, I'll opt to agree to disagree as you suggested. Looking forward to seeing who does manage to win these exciting district tournaments coming up next week. Best of luck to all players and coaches.
  13. Afraid you are mistaken again, trader. I agree with cool waters. Foul was a little excessive, but no celebration of any kind took place between the coach and player. No high fives were given and certainly no smiles or smirks. If any kind of positive transaction took place, it was after the game and congratulatory of winning at scotts hill, which RHS hasn't done for quite a while. I also checked back and nothing has EVER been mentioned about RHS being "dirty" with their style of play until recent posts. Sort of makes you wonder if their winning record may have a little to do with all the negativity. Now we should all get back to the topic of this thread and discuss district champions, which Riverside is not.
  14. I'm a little surprised that no one has mentioned Riverdale vs Mt.Juliet in first round of state tournament 2010. Two best teams played first round and Riverdale won in double overtime. Amazing plays made by both teams and it was a shame there had to be a loser. Probably the two best coached teams in tournament and definitely most disciplined.
  15. Come on folks... Have we forgotten all the bad blood between Riverdale and Blackman over the past 3 years? Most of the threads discussing the two teams were locked and had to have certain posts removed because the discussions got so ugly. Amazing how Riverdale bringing home the GOLD BALL last year, after all the controversy, managed to silence most of the unneeded remarks. This is called a rivalry! Teams aren't considered to be true rivals, unless both opponents have a good opportunity to win. There is an extremely high level of talent in Rutherford County and that is what makes AAA basketball in middle Tennessee so exciting. Most of the children that have been called out in this thread, were singled out because they are GOOD, not because they are breaking bones during games. It is also a little much to complain about a player being too aggressive in the post when she is 5 feet, 9 inches tall anyways. Personally, I hope Riverdale annihilates all and repeats as state champs.
  16. Hickman County should save their gas money and not even make the trip to Marshall County!! My prediction for this game is Marshall County 63 - Hickman County 0
  17. Thanks for the tip, but I don't drink coffee. It's addictive, stains your teeth, and stunts your growth. Maybe you should lay off the coffee a little bit and read my post again as well. I merely commented on your unrelenting study of Riverdale, nothing more. Mighty touchy on the Lady Warrior subject. The person that questioned Riverdale going to team camp was a post before you. I used bold and underlined words to make sure that everyone knew that they did not attend. Nevertheless, your sarcasm wasn't left undetected by anyone that has read many of your previous posts. Doesn't take a genius to see that you try to stay on both sides of the fence when it comes to your feelings about The Dale, players, and coaches. Some posts are positive and all smiles; while others are surly, deceitful, meant to stir up trouble, and hurt anyone's feelings possible by posting because they will no longer give you the satisfaction publically of knowing that you exist to them.
  18. As always, I am SO impressed with your consistent knowledge of the Riverdale Program, Iluvsmokeymts! Must be hard to keep up and still manage to have a life. Anyways, Riverdale Lady Warriors DID NOT attend the MTSU team camp. As previously stated, they are on probation. From what I hear, they are following the restrictions to a tee. Of course, anyone that knows Coach Maxwell-Hodges would never doubt that the LW Program would be crossing every t and dotting each i, getting ready for an exciting upcoming season. Any Riverdale players that were seen at MTSU team or individual camp were affiliated with another group/organization or on their account, NOT THE RIVERDALE TEAM OR COACHES.
  19. I guess that I still do not understand why people at Blackman Middle would be so unhappy with the coach. The only way I believe that the administration could be that upset with her wanting to help her alma matter would be if EVERY teacher in the entire school were super fans that attended each and every sporting event, which we all know is not realistic. I understand about the inner city rivalry, but if she is willing to teach there and is happy, why not encourage her to better herself and coaching abilities, which may end up bettering Blackman Middle girls basketball or even the high school later in her career. I wish all the coaches good luck with new positions and hope that all school systems manage to be happy and not put any stress on teachers that is not needed.
  20. Lewis County is playing in the TMSAA Small School State Tournament, not the TNT State Tournament. The TNT and James C. Haile are invitational tournaments that anyone can go to. The TMSAA Tournament is different because you have to quality to play in it. Not just anyone can go. This might be why you haven't had many responses to your post. Lewis County did win and will advance to the final 4 to play the winner of Summertown/Charlotte on Friday 18th @ 6:30!
  21. Not sure what you mean by sectionals? The 4 qualifying teams from the North will join the already decided teams from the South and play the state tournament at Blackman Middle School the week of February 14. Hope this is helpful. I think some schools are playing at Columbia, but it may be large schools instead of small schools.
