  1. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Miller family. Ross and Kenny Copeland
  2. I won't argue any of your points. I will say we have 5 classes and we have kids from all 5 classes that get scholarships every year.

    Unbelievable

Did you read the comments? "Posted by NO_DIGGITY on March 4, 2009 at 9:40 a.m. in response to docholliday1954 Not sure about Ron and Don, but I could have sworn I saw Sonny Warcloud and Bearcat Brown in the stands."
  4. Doesn't matter how many classes you have.....if you go to Fargo and Nationals and tear people up.....they notice you.
  5. Dustin's little boy. I like the GNWA web site much better than the old Vent.
  6. rgalvan...you should have seen little Fretwell wrestling in the 5 and 6 year old division this past weekend. I guess equally impressive was the little Kawa.
  7. I kind of like this response to your comment from one of our parents: "Sometimes I think these kids would rather wrestle than breathe. Not once have I ever heard their parents "talking them into" going to extra practice. They go because they know it will make them better. They go 'cause they want to be the BEST. There could be 30,000 kids to chose from, but if they don't have the passion, determination (some athletic ability helps) and involved parents to support their love for the sport, they would simply be average wrestlers. There are many large 5A schools that have a large pool of kids to choose from. They don't all have kids willing to give up much of their social life (year round) to become the best wrestlers in the state." http://gnwa.org/underground/viewtopic.php?...30%2C000#p24835
  8. I thought there was only 1 season for wrestling and it lasts 365 days.
  9. rgalvan...This post by Tom Mitchell?....(TJ Mitchell's dad) Some of the Hills secrets Postby MID60 on Sun Mar 01, 2009 1:11 pm Ok most want to know. I will give you some inside hints. This is no fluke, Ramos is the main reason, he is strict on every wrestler no matter how great he is. If you remember we had wrestlers out the first match of the year, well that was from the Fargo trip which IMO had nothing to do with the Hill but Cliff suspended the wrestlers that were working extra for next season from matches in the beginning of the season. These missed matches costed some wrestlers from personal records like 200 wins for a career(ended with 199). He keep one wrestler from attending State in his Sr. year cause he broke a team policy where most coaches would have let him wrestle. Coaching staff is second to none from one end to the other with NO EGO'S Faith yes Faith these wrestlers all go to church in groups every Sunday (different churches) but you always see more then one in church on sunday and then on Monday night it's Young Life they all pick each other up to go. They all get together every year during Christmas and work with needy familys. check this link out http://www.gwinnettdailypost.com/main.asp?...tionID=&S=1 After every match on the weekend the Varsity all spends the night together at one of the houses this has been a tradition for years as the other things I mentioned. They all have a tough practice with great work and drill ethic and then 3 days a week attend TWC and act like its the first practice. They are all there for each other. Parents are a large part of the success. They all look out for all the wrestlers. If we see one speeding we pull them over, if we see one acting out in public we correct them and the parents are as tight as the wrestlers, we have get togethers all the time cook outs, dinners at local restaurants even when wrestling is not going on. When we see things going wrong we correct them and have talks with the wrestlers. As good as this team was there was a time where they thought they were bullet proof, getting team penalitys not paying attention to the other wrestling during a dual ,texting etc. Coaches got them and put them through a hour and a half of the worse practice they ever had (they couldn't even remember what they did excet throwing up) This team demanded the best from top to bottom and coaches and parents too and would not allow any less and that is what this program is all about. Some proof of these things and the parents can speek as well are Mac Bennett. I have seen him for years but never like this year. Just last night Mac came over to my house and said he was spending the night and were we going to church in the morning. I told him of course. John Allgood, Nick Holbert, and more that all came to this program and got better as the year went on. This program takes avg wrestlers and makes them above avg it takes good wrestler and makes them better. I am very proud to be a part of this program and I know it has made my son a better person and wrestler and it is happening to my other son Drew he is getting better and learning more every day. There are many more things I can mention but I can't give out all our secrets. Other parents from here can feel free to add. Thanks coaches and parents I would say I am going to miss the Sr. leaving but in this program the familys keep coming back so you never miss them and they are always there for you.
  10. No big B C H S flags? No B C H S cheer.....or fanatic fan leading them in cheers? No fans that glowed in the dark when they turned out the lights? No one throwing out 1,000 fabric Frisbees with BCHS Wrestling on them after the last match?
  11. If you happened to watch last night you may have seen that Tyler Parker from Collins Hill lost his semi-final match to Heinrich Barnes of Oregon State. Barnes is tough kid and represented South Africa in the Beijing Olympics last summer. If you wondered about the injury timeout, Parker dislocated his elbow. He went on and finished the match...losing 7 - 2 with riding time. After the match, x-rays show the arm is broken and he won't be able to wrestle back for a shot at 2nd. Poor kid has had a tough time staying healthy....thyroid treatment freshman year, torn intercostal muscle as a sophomore, and this year torn ligaments in his ankle. I sure hope he gets 1 healthy season. From what I understand he'll graduate this year with a 4.0 and then next year with his Masters degree and on to law school. Not bad considering he's at Stanford.
  12. If you'd like to watch the PAC-10 championships they will be streamed live...and free. The next round starts at 9:00PM our time. http://www.pac-10.org/championships/2009-wrestling.html
  13. 2@140......They were on our fans too: http://gnwa.org/underground/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3901
  14. Ever notice everyone else's fans are jerks.......never one's own.
  15. I'm not feeling the love here........2@140 I have to be nice to the Father Ryan fans. I've got odd ties to the current Bateman's mom through my brother in law. (Not odd in a bad way) They behave pretty well at our tourney too....well...until the Baylor folk started filming them. (evidently no covert filming instruction from BCB.....like don't hold the camera and wear a bright red sweater when your team is wrestling in the other gym)
  16. Wrestlersdad....email sent.
  17. Wrestlersdad.......I passed your post around here and you need to tell her she's got a whole bunch of new friends down here at Collins Hill pulling for her to wrestle too. She can look us up on: www.collinshillwrestling.com We'd like to send her a shirt to let her know we're thinking about her if you could tell me where to send that to.
  18. Stop throwing rocks at me! I'm just a poor GA country boy. I did notice Jason has gotten much taller.....scary to think he's still growing.
  19. BCB iii .....I hate to hear it......I've really enjoyed meeting you and getting to know you a little. Enjoyed watching the boys on the mat. I think you'll be back.........no meetings or strategy sessions for B-ball. Give me a call some time. RMC
  20. Looks like he has a new school: http://www.blueridgeschool.com/?CFID=24883...FTOKEN=12958252 BRS Wrestlers Compete in National Preps Tournament Posted 02/23/2009 10:27AM Barons Jason Luster and John King competed in the 2009 National Preps Championship Tournament on February 21 at Lehigh University. John King made it to the semi-finals in the Heavyweight division, while freshman Jason Luster took second place and All-American honors. Huge congrats to Jason, John and the Barons Wrestling Team and Coaches!
  21. Luster in Prep Finals: http://gnwa.org/underground/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3956 Check out school name of opponent. Remember folks.....he's a freshman.
  22. 2@140......two of the matches that stand out to me that we had with BC were the Travis Creagan vs. Michael Johns and David Mang vs. Taylor Knapp. Remember those? Also....remember Travis having to chase Gary Tiller? LOL.....I think Travis teched him.
  23. I post about good Tennessee wrestlers on the GA site. I try to provide you some information about GA wrestling. So lets say when a kid like Graham wrestles someone like Bushart you know who he is. So you'll know when to watch for good matchups. I also started on this site when I had a nephew at Baylor.
  24. Time for another shirt! I need an XL!
