  1. thats funny...i saw a kid wearing cardinal and gold this past season that would've ran circles around either of those two guys. #9 was his number, i think. oh, and trust me, this kid NEVER went down. he also got some little reward for all of his showing off, something like a Mr. Football trophy or something like that. how many of those did rico and stembridge get? c'mon, bhsOL, dave was a better runner than stembridge and you knows it.
  2. best advice for blackman: torch the barn and kill the rats!!
  3. "purple rain" ???? well, i have to say that smyrna is the only that could possibly do this term more of an injustice than prince did. yeah dad, i got my mop too. got a couple of umbrellas as well if you need one.
  4. and i'm surprised that you haven't had your son already doing that for you!! thumb aside from pushing vehicles, i had to go up against kenyon buford in blocking drills sometimes during practice. trust me, there's a reason that he had "excursion" stitched across his personalized game cleats.
  5. you guys are forgetting one important fact here. the question shouldn't be SHOULD girls be allowed to play football, but WOULD they play if they had the chance. the answer to this question lies within my signature. check it out.

    Coach Mac

different types of football. i'm not sure what classification ripley is, but i do think that ms football is stouter than tn football. traditionally, they have been very good, although i don't think that they have gained the reputation in ms that riverdale has in tn.

    Coach Mac

i grew up in mississippi and played against ripley in the 8th grade. they destroyed us. they have a tremendous program. best of luck to coach mac.
  8. this is extremely suprising to me. my dad and i both agreed that the favorite for a run at the 5a gold ball next year would be oak ridge, but i'm not so sure of that anymore. although i'm not too familiar with the oak ridge program, i do know enough about them from their showing at tomahawk stadium last november to know that they are an extremely stout and sound football team. best of luck to the wildcats this next season and best of luck to coach lussier at father ryan. i would hate to see rankin leave from riverdale (although he was tough as a coach, all of us players respected him). regardless of your beef with the man, no one can deny that he built the riverdale program into the machine that it is today. if oak ridge were to get rankin, i can't imagine the force that he would put out on the field. scary thought
  9. the lights at mtsu are pretty bright. i know...i saw them every december!
  10. one day i hope to attain the level of sarcasm that you have!! oh, and region, the only thing you should worry about coming out of the mouths of babes are the plays being called in an oakland huddle.
  11. dad, you're crazy granted, oakland will be better than they were last year, but they still won't be able to match up with some of the squads in this area. i see a 5-5 or 6-4 season for the patriots.
  12. i believe the most that riverdale poured out on the ground is probably around 400 or so. with that in mind, they didn't allow a 100 yard rusher all season.
  13. i don't know about this one bhsOL. i never was a speed demon, and i played on the line.
  14. hey mcallister, where are you from in mississippi? i lived there too for 14 years, before moving to murfreesboro and playing for riverdale. i lived in houston, which is about 45 minutes outside of tupelo. the houston high hilltoppers are terrible. i'm glad we moved! thumb i think that scheduling a game with sp is a brave thing to do. props to mccallie for scheduling a powerhouse like sp. however, i see it as getting really ugly really quick. they are in a class all their own, especially for tennessee high school football. good luck though.
  15. i spoke with coach mcdaniel and jacqui at hobby lobby on saturday (no sneers please...it's my job!) coach mac is still his same great postive self and jacqui is still absolutely one of the most beautiful people i've ever come into contact with. she is such an inspiration to me, and words cannot describe the impact that she has had in my life as well as in the lives of others. i love you jacqui and the entire macdaniel family.
  16. hey region, what board do i need to go to in order to nominate blazer14?
  17. hey region--THANKS A MILLION!!! that really means a lot that you would nominate me for the plus. and thanks to you too dmoyers--hope you liked the chicken tenders. i was off of coacht for quite a while, even when Riverdale made the infamous "traitor" comment. i can't speak for him, so i can't take it back for him either. however, you always make me laugh region, and even though you never bought me a hot dog, i'll still buy into the thought that they are the best out there. hasbeen becoming a plus member--what a great day for riverdale football!!! remember region, just cause you got the membership for me doesn't mean you're safe from the tribe attack.
  18. rebelron and dmoyers, hope you guys don't mind me joining along. you see, Riverdale has always had this affinity for buying me meals--almost like we're related or something!! thumb
  19. hey region!!! long time no post, eh? its great to be back, and i dont think there's a better week to come back to riverdale football. Riverdale and i are coming back early from thanksgiving in mississippi to catch this game in person, and i can hardly contain myself. with respect to all oak ridge fans and players, i just don't see riverdale losing this one. i have never, personally, seen as much speed on one team in my life (they've got more team speed than the 2001 championship team that i was a part of and that boasted players like taron henry, marcus king, edrell smith, and oh yes, lets not forget, mr. ralph king). however, this year's group is also extremely strong up front on both sides of the ball, and thats because of experience. bottom line to oak ridge when we have the ball: have fun trying to stop tb gaston miller. if, by chance, you do stop him, have fun stopping fb tamar butler. given that you stop them both, try stopping dave thomas, the THOMAShawk. if it turns out that he can't run on you, try and stop 6'3" wide receiver rahmel oliver and 6'4" 260 lb te chris perkins. see what i'm getting at? riverdale has too many ATHLETES for anyone to be able to account for. and, their line is dominant and experienced in playoff play. players like ricky lawrence, phillip thomas, justin jones, justin white, and skidmore have all shown they are capable of demolishing anyone in their path (gotta give my o-line boys some love--used to be one of 'em!). dig in oak ridge, its gonna be a long night for you guys on defense. bottom line to oak ridge when they have the ball: riverdale has allowed ONE, count it ONE, touchdown in the previous 42 quarters of play. they are too fast to be beaten from east to west (sorry, guys, but no sweeps or bubble screens) and are way too physical and strong and nasty up front and in the linebackers to beaten north to south (no powers or dives, either). granted, they have shown some weakness in the secondary, BUT, they make up for it by never giving opposing quarterbacks time to throw the ball (qb's don't complete many passes from their backs!!) so dig in oak ridge, cause it's gonna be an even longer night for you guys on offense. the warriors are blue cross bowl bound and level-headed. they control their destiny now. 15-0? i think so.
  20. no doubt, i think this game will be much closer than in week 2. smyrna has improved so much since then, and from what i hear, orona is starting to come into his own. is he as good as dave thomas? based on what i've seen, i don't think so, but i'm not going to count him out. i can't wait to see this one this friday. i'm just glad i'll be in town this weekend. region, what's up man?? first, you don't buy me a hotdog at the rhs/ohs game, and now you're speaking heresy against the warriors?? c'mon, show some love!! thumb
  21. well, from a middle tennessee, former riverdale warrior perspective, i tend to agree that we don't need press coverage. we have an outstanding program this year, have had outstanding teams the past 13 or 14 years, and will be outstanding for years to come. everyone knows about the 'dale, no matter what region of tennesee you are from. and as long as you knew that we were playing lavergne, you should've been able to draw your own conclusions to the outcome of that game. sports writers do their talking in the paper, but the warriors do theirs on the field. see ya'll week 15.
  22. who knows...guess we'll find out week 14!! thumb
  23. wtaylor, i'm a riverdale grad and i played for the warriors from the '99-'02 seasons. i also saw the game on espn and i have to say that i disagree with your statements. the players on this year's riverdale squad have never seen the type of talent of a southlake carroll or a denton-ryan texas 5a team, and i believe that a game between riverdale and any of the top 10 teams from texas, florida, georgia, or california would be over by halftime. as much i hate to say that, i believe it. south panola, the best 5a program in mississippi, would give riverdale and any other team in tn a whipping, just because football in these other states is just so much better at the high school level. i believe that my warriors are #1 in tn, and thats just fine and dandy by me.
  24. waco, fergason may be the better passer, but thomas is still a very good passer in addition to being the best athlete to come through riverdale's program in years. he can still throw the ball well enough to hurt you, but if you flush him out of the pocket his legs will be your death penalty. shaggyj and ooooo, i cannot believe that ya'll think orona is better than thomas. now, i'm not arguing that orona stinks or anything like that, because he is an extremely talented athlete. but if he was the caliber athlete that dave is, then he would be putting up better numbers, regardless of how bad his line is. not to take away from riverdale's o-line, but watch the majority of dave's runs--he creates his own blocks by shaking defenders down to their knees. bottom line, when dave's on his game, he is a one man wrecking crew. orona just hasn't shown that capability to me, but that's not to say that he doesn't have it.
