Marshall County doesn't have the best pay in the world and top notch school districts in TN have problems hiring and keeping MATH teachers with or without a coaching position so why should the people in Lewisburg think they can find a math teacher with head football experience?

Most schools search for the very best at every position. If you need a top notch math teacher don't assume they can coach football. If you need a top notch English teacher, don't presume they will be a good head coach. Likewise, hire the best man or woman for the job in coaching too. If a man has experience, organizational skills, knowledge of the game, hire him!

A buddy of mine checked into the position. They are just looking for a math teacher who can coach "a little." Seriously, this is what the lady at the central office said when he inquired about the position. So all of you math teachers who "coach a little football" head on down to Lewisburg and put your name in the hat for the job "coaching a little football" at Forrest High School. Nathan Bedford would be proud to be associated with the program!

Nice school with over 800 students but ZERO talent. Pay is low and few assistant coaches in a tough district. I have friends who applied last time and said they gave it to someone with almost no experience but he was a local kid and so they thought that would help them win games. Last year they played a tough schedule with mostly underclassman and was destroyed in every contest. THE ONLY PEOPLE who will apply for this job are younger coaches who think they can change the world and some old dogs looking to retire. Nice place but no one in their right mind would touch it!

Same uniforms I saw them in last season. I don't think they have any new talent coming up, most starters are seniors. South Gibson will eat them alive and so will the chargers.

I hope GCHS beats the Rebels on Friday. It would be so fitting for them to end their losing streak against Shawn Jackson.

Most coaches pull their starters and don't kick onside kicks over and over just because they want to RUN UP THE SCORE. MOST COACHES TRY NOT TO RUN UP THE SCORE if the game is clearly one sided. You can NEVER justify such classless poor sportsmanship. It is anthetical to the very concept of good sportsmanship.

Who wins the battle of these two winless teams?

At least three assistant coaches from the Bill Cox staff (1996-2000) have gone on to be successful head coaches. The last winning season was 1999. It takes a good staff teaching fundamentals and good athletes who are willing to do the work.
