  1. 24-24 10:06 left. Fourth and 1 and Brentwood scores on a 59 yd TD run
  2. WS leads after 3, 24-17. Julian Burton with a 21 yd TD run after stripping the all from the Brentwood RB. Hayes had 159 total yds at the half.
  3. Not sure. I am getting the info relayed to me from a sportswriter from the Commercial Appeal. Will try to find out.
  4. Julian Burton 40 yd TD run...WS leads 17-10 midway through the 3rd
  5. Brentwood took opening kickoff and drove down the field taking up about half the 1st quarter. Bruins were up 10-0 in this one. WS has answered especially right before the half driving 99 yards to get the tying TD. 10-10 at the half
  6. It's all Beech early 638 left in the 2nd quarter 29-6. Beech has 2 INT including one in the end zone and recovered a fumble on the kickoff
  7. I would imagine that there will have to be a teaching position available for the right person before they could announce anything. If you didn't know what members of your staff will or will not be coming back, it might be kind of tough. However, there will not be a non faculty coach as head varsity football coach at Millington. As far as the previous questions, offense and defense will depend on available talent. Is the talent there to make a change to a different "O" and "D" or will you have to make do as is? Coaching changes depend on teaching positions as well. You can only have 3 non faculty football coaches so your hands might be tied if there are no teaching positions available for any coaches that you might want to bring in. Millington will have a number of skill players available. Travron Taylor will be back at WB, Roland Genesey and Rico Jefferson at FB and Antonio Webber will be a sophomore to watch at WB. Ben Allen started at C this past year as a sophomore as did sophomore Jamal Collier at T. Allen Cross returns at LB. I am sure there are many more names but I am just putting them down as they come to mind. Millington will be fine. We just have to see what they have learned from playing tough competition.
  8. Actually there were a number of years that teams with losing records (3-7,2-8,1-9) got in because there were 8 regions. Some of those regions only had 5 teams and when you took the top 4 in each region, you didn't necessarily get the cream of the crop. I know there was one year where it came down to week 10 to see who the 4th place team was going to be in one particular region. The two teams going in were 1-8 and 0-9. I would think the smart thing to do is go back to regions, find a way to have at least 6 teams per region and have the top 4 qualify. Now if you have to cut back to 4 classes to do that, so be it. I don't think a team with a losing record should ever be allowed in the playoffs. If you are going to do that, you might as well let every team in.
  9. Shaun Abel is the new head coach of the Dragons. Had been DC there for a long time.
  10. Mark Fisher was indeed a head coach at Munford before he came to Millington. Which Brighton coach? Head Coach Will Wolfe?
  11. The coach at Millington, Hank Hawkins, resigned because he wanted to spend more time with his kids. He had the support of the community and was a big part of this community. He grew up here, went to high school here and has spent the last 19 years of his life as the coach of the Millington football team. He was not asked to resign nor was he fired.
  12. Best of my knowledge is that they have received some calls but I have not heard any names just yet. Job hasn't been officially posted yet.
  13. I don't have a problem with them just basing it on the regular season because not everyone gets in the playoffs. This isn't an award for the best player on the best team. It's for the most outstanding player period. I don't think however the media who vote on this see it that way.
  14. So who's wins? Of course this is based on regular season and has nothing to do with playoffs.I know nothing about Stone and Gurchiek other than they are QB's. Hayes is as well and this is his first year at QB. He scored 28 TD's this year, throwing for 16 of them and only 6 INT and over 1200 yds. He has 984 yds rushing and averages almost 8 yds a carry. White Station's only losses on the year were to MUS & CBHS and they have beaten Whitehaven,Melrose and Mitchell (all district games and all of those teams made the playoffs) They also defeated Briarcrest & Ridgeway who also made the playoffs. All in all 7 of the 10 teams they played made the playoffs.
  15. How long has he been coaching? Where was he before Southwind?
  16. With all due respect, Millington needs to get the best person for the job. Whether that's from the inside or the outside, young or old. The problem with most "young" coaches is that they don't realize (or aren't willing) how much time that you have to spend outside the stadium and practice fields talking with the people-both businesses and individuals . When you are a small town such as Millington, high school football is the pride of the community and they take it seriously. So if you are a young coach wanting to come in to Millington to be the head coach, be prepared to make yourself a part of this community. Don't think of it as just a job. I have already talked to Coach Hawkins and thanked him for his years of service to the Trojans. Hank went to school at Millington and has been a coach here for 19 years-the last 13 as head coach. Doesn't seem possible that it has been that long. He took us to a place we had never been before...semifinal round in the playoffs. Back to back perfect regular seasons. Hank-once a Trojan, always a Trojan. Thanks.
  17. OB scored 41, MUS-38 and CBHS-31, Arlington-10, 3 other teams-7 and 3 teams were shut out. Wooddale might win the game but they aren't in the category of the first 3 teams on this list.
  18. Under your reasoning, the defense is responsible for all turnovers. So if a team fumbles the ball 8 times without getting hit at all (all due to the weather conditions-mishandled snaps, dropped balls) then its the defense's fault? That's ludicrous and laughable. Don't worry about what I said or should have said. Last I checked, you haven't paid for the right to worry about that. Just worry about whatever team you are supporting without the name calling.
  19. My point is you didn't cause the first fumble. It was a bad exchange and Arlington recovered.
