  1. So.....anyone got any updates for us???? Man I miss Rhea Co.
  2. The program's mojo will be sidelined until Rhea Co. is allowed to ride again. Not a week removed from his apparent banishment from these forums and we've lost our 2nd head coach in the last month. I think it's safe to say Rhea Co. was the glue that held it all together. In all seriousness though, everything happens for a reason. Part of me thinks we dodged a bullet here and we can all hope that the administration has better luck with their next selection. Remember, it's not like anyone is trying to ruin the program. I think we all want to see success from the football team, as well as all Rhea County athletics programs. Here's hoping that starts with the next new coach of the Golden Eagles. We're all Green and Gold when it comes down to it. Hopefully the 2nd go round of this doesn't turn into the same "bashfest" the last thread did.
  3. Not to mention we are also moving up to 6A for the playoffs beginning next year.
  4. To be fair, this "maryvilleisgod" person could be anyone - just some random onlooker who has no interest in either Rhea or Maryville. I knew as soon as I read it that it likely wasn't a real Maryville fan (although every fan base does have some idiots, that's just the way it is), because while we have had an interesting week of conversations, I generally do not have any problem with Maryville or their fans. And yes, those of us here in Eagle country do get pretty excited about our football - that's all that these posts have been...enthusiastic at best. Most (knowledgeable) Rhea fans will admit to a man that they have a good bit of respect for Maryville. Oh well, enough of this for now - I'm just ready for kickoff...this has seriously been the longest week ever.
  5. I've seen Maryville play 7 out of the last 10 years (or, every time Rhea has gone up there). One thing that seems to be true no matter what is that Maryville would always have a little trickery up their sleeve and execute to perfection. I saw in the paper today that they have scored 71% of their TDs on the ground - does this year's team run it more than in the past? I realize I've just had a small sampling (one game out of their 15 each of these years), but I seem to remember them as a more pass oriented team. That's not to say they are the Texas Tech of high school football, as I know they ran a fair amount - it just seemed like a high percentage for them. The other thing I always noticed was that from the stands at least, Maryville players seem to usually conduct themselves with good sportsmanship, which I always admire. And yes, the announcer cracks me up with the way he says MERRY-VILLE. I'm sorry, not a knock on the guy...it's just that I am pretty sure he may be one of 7 people in east TN that actually pronounce it correctly. I'm pumped about this game and looking forward to the Maryville fans coming on down to ol' Rhea County for a change. I have utmost respect for your program....but my gosh do I want a win Friday. LETS GO EAGLES!
  6. It's just about 3 hours from Johnson City to Rhea. We're about an hour and a half south of Knoxville.
  7. I'll be honest, these threads are downright embarrassing. It reminds me of a bunch of little kids arguing at recess. I see all these screen names with "Eagle" or "RCHS" or anything like that in them. That means one thing - we are all "Rhea County fans"...all fans of THE SAME THING AND THE SAME TEAM. Sure, some of you don't agree with everything the coaches do - that's part of life and is a normal thing. If you have a problem, talk about it to their faces, not behind their backs here. To be honest, the fans on Friday night are far more embarrassing than anything the coaches do. Most fans might as well stay at home, we could hear you just as well from home as we can at the game. Every place we go the home crowd is so much louder than ours, somehow we have become the wine and cheese crowd (should be whine and cheese since that's all any of us do). We are 4-1 and 2-0 where it matters, in the region. How about you guys act like it both in the stands and in public, and on these message boards. We are Rhea County. Be part of the we or don't. But don't keep carrying on like this, it is ridiculous.
  8. Great win for Rhea County! I know they are much maligned, but I felt our coaches were outstanding last night, and for the first time in as long as I can remember the crowd sounded like it had a pulse (that's gotta change, every other team that we play has way louder fans than us even though we usually double them in numbers). What happened with the 2 fans and Fitz after the game? I had to leave as soon as it was over and I must have missed that one. I will say it is going to be interesting having the visitors coaching staff up in the booth on the home side all year, as those knuckleheads from last night proved. All in all this was the best game I've seen on any level in a year or two - here's to 12 more just like it!
  9. Seriously. Can't this message board be used for something more than somewhere to argue about completely irrelavant things? Ooltewah, you guys are good. McCallie is good. Tyner is also very good. All three of these schools should have tremendous years. Who is the best? Nobody knows, nobody will know. There won't be a three team playoff to settle an argument between fans. Thats just the way it is, getting on here and resorting to the kinds of things that are all over this message board will do no good. It's sort of sad to see the only threads with multiple pages have multiple pages because of an argument between two schools or two people.
  10. Your Hixson Wildcats. I have a feeling you already knew that you just wanted to hear me say it LOL.
  11. If Rhea County plays like they are capable (see: Brainerd game) they should win this one easily. But if they play like they have every other game this year, there's no telling what will happen. You would think that after seeing what playing with intensity can do for you (once again, Brainerd game) they would play that way every week. We're still 1-1 in region play and with these last 5 games all being against region opponents...we've got a chance if we can just bring the intensity 5 weeks in a row. So yeah. There's that.
  12. Yeah I was just wondering if anyone saw Rhea County play last night? How did they look?
  13. All I can say after the game Friday is that Soddy Daisy is indeed the real deal. I thought that this would be a close game coming in to it but boy was I wrong. Congratulations to Soddy and good luck the rest of the year. One positive I did see was Rhea County kept playing hard despite the score or time left, and that's a good sign for sure. Now we've gotta get back up and play a tough Hixson team this Friday. Go Eagles.
  14. I'm not one to blame officials on a regular basis, but after watching the Rhea County-Wilson Central game on Thursday I must say that I saw the worst officiating I have seen in a basketball game on any level in my entire life. A charge would be called on one play, then the exact same play would happen a few minutes later and it was a block. And I'm not saying that all the bad calls went against the Eagles either, because Wilson Central had some tough calls go against them. Pitiful calls actually. I guess I always thought that as you went deeper into the playoffs, you saw better officiating. The saddest thing about it was that Zach Hyatte, arguably our best player, could never get into a flow because every time he did anything he was whistled for a foul. I realize this game happened 3 days ago, and I wasn't going to say anything about it...but after seeing this thread I couldn't resist.
  15. From what I hear they have been passing out permission slips and sign up sheets to ride pep buses up on Thursday. Rhea County fans travel pretty well, so I expect to see a lot of familiar faces in the crowd. But who knows, I may be dead wrong.
  16. Actually, the referee did make the charging call as he was running off the court. I kid you not.
  17. well, the refs don't miss layups and free throws, or forget to box out, or use a bad game plan. sure refs mess up, but we all do, we're human...don't blame an official when a game doesn't go your way.
  18. rhea county and maryville play at 1:30 friday afternoon
  19. that is crazy that he wasn't listed....the kid is definately a top 5 player in the area...who did they have listed as the 5? cause i would love to see who they think is better than him. i have seen him play in person several times, he is the real deal.
  20. everyone i have talked to on the team tells me that cooper is playing for the eagles this year and had no idea where those rumors were coming from.
  21. i don't think maryville will blow out chatt. central. the purple pounders have a lot of speed. maryville is the most disciplined and well executing team i've seen all year though...i think the home field and not knowing how to lose give maryville the edge... maryville 27 chattanooga central 20 sorry purplepounderfootball, i really want to go with the region 4 team...but my brain takes my heart on this one.
  22. every maryville player, coach, and fan should be very proud of the program you guys have got going on up there. after watching tonights game, i must say that i am very impressed with not only the way your team plays, but also the way they act. even though my eagles lost tonight, at least we lost to a class program. good luck to you guys the rest of the playoffs.
