The latest news from Athens is not looking good. The coaching staff has three coaches sick and many players are still not practicing. Coach Hutchins himself missed Tuesday and Wednesday and was not sure about today. This is not good timing, but life is about overcoming obstacles. The back-ups have practiced all year(and their parents have griped for an opportunity), so saddle up Cherokees and win one for my Patriots.

I will say this, the GovMan is loyal to his team, win or lose. I must say that WB was much better than 5-6. However, I think their defense was overrated. In big games, the defense gave up key scores.

You cannot mention Hutchins after just one season. Coach Potter has done it for several years. He is my vote.

The atmosphere at DB is incredible. The fans are rabid, the band is loud, and the smoke from the grills is delicious. Then Coach Clark and his gang are generally good and play the game hard. I agree with Bud about Pals, the sweet T is unbelievable.

I have heard several names being thrown around. Gaddis will not take the job, pay is not enough. Several coaches from area schools will be interested in the job. The rumor mill is turning up some interesting names such as Meadows from Jeff. Co., Woods from Mo. West, Shattuck & Gray from Oak Ridge, Stephens from A-E, and Hutchins at McMinn. All would really be good for Clinton.

Cleveland's achillies heel all year has been the lack of a passing game. I saw their game vs. McMinn earlier and it sounds like that West used a similar gameplan. Way to go West!

I would like nothing more, since we are talking history, to see another Jeff.Co. 51 Oak Ridge 0 score like 1987. I know that Coach Lusher and company still feel that one on cold November nights.

I talked with Coach Hutchins last night on the phone and he told me that those players are playing in the game. Those rumors where just that, rumors. i wish the people on this site would get their facts straight before posting gossip.

I know this, a good DB coach is worth their weight in gold (and for Coach Folsom, that is worth a lot). The fastest way to lose football games is in the secondary. Just ask the Vols.

Playoff possibilities are numerous in Region 2-5A. Oak Ridge will win the region (and possibly the state). Second will be determined Friday night in Athens. Farragut must beat either OR or Soddy to get in, or have William Blount lose 2 more which will not happen. Soddy is eliminated if they lose to Farragut, but will finish fourth if they win. If McMinn wins against WB, they will be second. It is very important to finish first or second in this region to stay out of Kingsport and Jefferson County in the first round. I agree with Tribefan (he of insurance sales) on the region finishes.

Where did you get the information on #1,3,8? If they don't play, McMinn will lose badly!

This is a joke. Campbell County is not that good. The Cougars are having a "good" season, but let's be real. Science Hill will roll.

Coach Swafford was ajerk who ran an outlaw program at SD for too long. You want to know why the program is bad? They lost their offensive line coach because of Swafford and two really good backs. The kids there probably did love Swafford because he let them do whatever they wanted and act like complete thugs. I think whoever gets this job will have a lot of talent but will need a tremendous amount of disclipine!

Someone did not do their homework because Greenville is a 4A school.

Maybe the boys in Athens are busy preparing for the games instead of talking!!

Thismone could really get ugly. SC has had problems with speed, and Jeff. Co. has plenty of it. Also, the Jeff. Co. boys will get a chance to say Hello! to Coach Wilhite who coached at Jeff. Co. for the past few years and is now at SC. Jeff. Co. will roll into the playoffs 9-1 and look to have a huge showdown at OR in the second round!!

I have seen both of these teams and both are good teams. However, they will not meet again. Neither team can compete with Maryville or Knox Central. Neither team will be around for round 3 of the playoffs.

@good4U, you show your amazing ignorance again!! Jeff. Co. is at camp in Kentucky this week, so I doubt if anyone on the site traveled to see PRACTICE!! And by the way, Reliford did not make 19 tackles in both the DB games combined.

Extrapoint, You seem very knowledgable about Jefferson County football and have a lot of insight into the program. Did you play there? Do you coach or have a son on the team? Who do you think will be the next DC at Jeff.? I heard that Phil Wilks has the inside track on the job. Also, why do you not think Hutchins will be at McMinn very long? Do you have inside info?

Let your guard make the call. If he has a 1 tech. man block the play and iso the LB with the wing. If he has a 2 or 3, tackle block down and guard kick out. If the guard is uncovered (50 look), fold block with guard first and tackle around on LB. Wing will block DE. This takes all the guess work off the coach.

Hutchins has never run the power I. He has run the I with Ricky Upton for a year, but the rest of the time he has run option. I heard he was going to run the wing-t at MC.
