  1. Just thought I'd bump this topic back to the front by saying it's good to look at the bottom of the pages and see about twice as many of the BOLD RED names as there used to be.................
  2. If you don't already have one then you will probably soon have one of those "VOTE NO FOR ANNEXATION" signs in your yard.
  3. Actually she scored from 4 yds out and made the Paul Harvey show. "And now you know the rest of the story. G-day".
  4. Here is the answer to all your needs. Carson Newman has a clinic at the Music Road Convention Center in Pigeon Forge about Feb. 25 - 26, 2005. Contact CN or Coach Sparks via e-mail at the CN.edu. website for a brochure and details. BTW the clinic is a husband /wife oriented clinic with lots of good stuff for the coaches boss as well as X's and O's for the coach. thumb
  5. Partner, it's pretty simple, I seen and talked with Coach Rankin for about 10 years at the various coaching clinics we have both been at and if you noticed at the game or on the tv, he has some snow on top of the mountain like I and several other old coaches do. He just probably wants a little pressure off from whats expected at Riverdale and may be looking to see if he can still build a winner from the ashes of another program(some folks thrive on new challenges every few years or so). As far as the conveniences, Cleveland has all you need and if they don't then Chattanooga is just as close to Cleveland as Nashville is to the 'boro.
  6. Thanks, where at, as far as what motel or convention center etc????????????? Anyone from Gallatin know anything about Middle Tenn. clinics?????????
  7. Please post any information on local high school football clinics here. I would like info. on the Big East clinic in Pigeon Forge, the clinic held at Gallatin if it's still held, and any other state wide.....
  8. I'll call your bump and raise it a look see.
  9. Prior to this year it was only bottle rockets with a 75% fizzle out rate........
  10. Those who do not take care of the smaller details, including team spirit and moral are the least prepared to win. These are usually the ones that let everyone down on 4th and goal from the one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Who has Wartburg scheduled in place of Sunbright and Oakdale???
  12. Monroe was an excellent coach at Cleveland, but someone once said "you can't go home again". Several coaches have tried and it seems to hold true. IF Cleveland does land Gary Rankin as the new head coach it would be the biggest coup since El Che and Castro took over Cuba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thumb
  13. I've read some but not all the posts on this topic so this may have already been addressed. Alcoa and Huntingdon are both very good teams, but you guys will have your hands full at quarter and semi-finals time when the "alphabet soup" private gang that is moving up from 1A arrives at your door....... thumb
  14. After numerous posts on at least two topics about the quality of football being "weak" or weaker than folks like across the state of Tennessee, I'd say lots of folks care. Improvements in the general fan base and community support will always help a program to improve and raise the bar on their competitive level! thumb

Internet is a mixture of both. Remember that there are websites for nearly every newspaper, magazine, tv station, and radio station, as well as the state high school governing body (ie. TSSAA) in this and every state. And yes, not everything in the "papers" is always fact, especially in the smaller rural papers.......
  16. Cross county rivalries don't mean much anymore with region play and the tie breaker system that goes into play if their is a tie within the region at playoff time. The fact that the 1.8 multiplier has emptied out the majority (if not all) of the ever present and dominating privates from the 1A class has several smaller schools dumping bigger class "rivalries" from the schedule and scheduling games that are more competitive and "winable". You don't want to ruin a shot at the playoffs and "gold ball" due to a thumping at the hands of a larger cross county rival that probable didn't generate any more revenue than a playoff game or two will provide at the end of the season.
  17. Region 1 - 1A will have Hampton High and their venerable coach J.C. Campbell dropping down from 2A. They will be extemely "hard to handle" for at least the first year since they return about 80% of their starters...............
  18. I'd say it's close between Riverdale and Maryville.
  19. Boys, just hold on to your britches this is going to be a wild ride and it will be just about anybodies game. With the 1.8 multiplier there will be a mad scramble at playoff time with a whole bunch of public 1A's that haven't had a sniff closer than the semi's dreaming of sugarplums and gold balls dancing in their heads!!!!! thumb
  20. I wonder how our enthusiasm compares to the little towns and communities that show up on Friday nights to watch their cowboy/farmboys play on those sixman teams in the Plains states. I would really like to see one of those games live sometime................. thumb
  21. Thanks, do they have a website to look at it????????
  22. I didn't know about this game. I thought the only All-Star games sanctioned by the TSSAA in the state were the TN/KY All-Star game and the East/West Shrine game????????????????
  23. NCLB is just another Education Dept. fad to accomodate the First Lady and will pass in time like all "paper trail" education programs that are politically motivated. The problem I see is that the TSSAA and other state sports governing bodies will either give hardship approval to transfers while NCLB is intact or be forced to by the federal courts. NOW, when NCLB is defunct and no longer a factor in determining eligibity, what kind of Pandora's Box will that open for future decisions on legal vs illegal transfers and what is or what isn't recruiting?????

Like I said in an earlier post, how can you tell the general public from the coaches if you are a first time reader. Many administrators and politicians are webheads like the rest of the country is rapidly becoming. If they read something negative on coacht or any other popular sports website, then as Will Rogers used to say "I don't believe it unless I read it in the news paper". Internet is todays newspaper!!!!!!!!!!!! thumb
