    FORREST

I don't know, but they still have lots of talent. I would be very surprized if it doesn't come down to Forrest and Richland in the end.
  2. Wouldn't you know the rain-outs would start on opening day. How does Coach T want us to handle the cancelled/rescheduled games on the schedule part of the site?
  3. Based on the teams used if you move Wayne County and Collinwood to Region 7 then the regions as a whole will be balanced well. Both numerically and geographically.
  4. Is coach King still there? He used to be great at getting the most out of his teams. He regularly beat teams with lots more talent. He was also a hoot to watch on the sideline.
  5. Great post beethoven. Wish we still had good marks.
  6. Baldcoach, private domination is much worse in both Softball and Baseball. I am not sure why there is not as much uproar as football. I know during Spring Fling it was a pretty hot topic for a while. Maybe its because in the spring sports so few publics even get a whiff of the State Tourney that there is nobody around for an interview.
  7. -Could establishing a 6 man or 8 man football league / classification help resolve the concerns of our small rural public schools? No -Could establishing such a league possibly allow more schools across the state to establish football programs? Yes -Could such a concept ever receive serious consideration in Tennessee? If not, why not? I doubt it. The vast majority of the small publics have the participation level to play 11 man football. Sure we all know of a small school or two that has been struggling to get enough kids out. I am familiar with region 6A. The only school in that region that has had any problems with keeping enough kids out is Cornersville. The other 9 schools in the region have plenty of kids. It would be next to impossible to convince any of those 9 to drop to 8 man ball. Sure Cornersville might think about it. So might Red Boiling, Gleason, or Cosby. But thats not enough interest to get it going. The problem is not the number of kids out at most of the small schools, but the lack of talent to win a state championship. Sure there is a school or two out there with an outside chance, ie South Pitt. But it is to the point if you are small rural public you are resigned to simply try to win your district and hope you don't get hammered to bad in the playoffs. At this point someone is thinking that it shouldn't be all about winning, and you are right. However, do you really expect even semi-intelligent people to look at the playoff record of privates vs. publics the last few years (36-3) and expect coaches and players who are working their tails off to just shrug and say, "winning doesn't really matter anyway".
  8. volgen is right. Participation should have no bearing on classification. However, records like 36-3 (private vs publics in the playoffs) most certainly should.
  9. Coach Aydelott may not be the stretch that some folks think. Aydelott's father-in-law I think works there. Also I believe his kids are reaching the age where in Metro a small private school looks like a good place to be. I don't know, but he would be a good candidate anywhere.
  10. The 2 year playoff record of private vs. public now increases dramatically to 36-4.
  11. I am a small public school supporter. I am a Christian. I don't think the privates are lying, cheating, or being decietful. I think we need a split for the playoffs. I must be really screwed up.
  12. In Collinwood's defense their one non-region game last year I think was Loretto - a 2A team. Plus region 6 is the toughest 1A region in the state outside of Nashville's region 5. The reason region 6 gets little respect on a statewide basis is that the region 5 privates knock them out pretty quick. Region 6 has consistantly had 5th, 6th, and 7th place teams that can and have beaten schools in other regions that qaulify for the playoffs. So please don't call Collinwood's schedule weak. It is simply not the case.
  13. 36-3 That's the record of privates vs. publics the last two years in the 1A and 2A playoffs. And you think there is no problem?
  14. "when things got interesting was after the split. the D-I privates, who apparently had previously been poorly coached and didnt work very hard, suddenly came to life. after going a mere 66-58 (.532) over all those years, they responded to either the vacuum created by the D-II schools leaving... or what? since the split, they have run up a record of 107-45 (.704), and their record has been improving virtually every year. and EVERY year since the split they have exceeded any year before the split. the past two years, the record has gone to 36-3 (.923), not counting what lip scum may do in the last 2 rounds of this year's playoffs." Great post laz. I wonder why there are so few responses from the private supporters. Could it be that it is hard to refute cold hard facts? And if this is indeed just a cycle, it appears that it is going to be a very long one that is only getting worse for the small rural schools. I am a small rural public school supporter. With that said, I think most of the private schools are great places, with good coaches who are going by the book. If I lived in Metro my kid would go to Lipscomb, Goodpasture, or Ezell in a heartbeat. All are quality schools with fine upstanding men as coaches. But you have to be absolutely crazy to look us small school folks in the eye and tell us that we just need to work a little harder and we'll be right up there. Give me a break! Look at those numbers again and tell us to coach harder. No, there is no such thing as a level playing field. However, those numbers are absolutely rediculous, and they are getting worse.
  15. Oh come on pujo! It doesn't matter that we won only 1 out of 14 games. We just need to coach better and work harder. It's that simple. Why can't everyone see it.
  16. Even though 6 out of 8 left are private and I am in favor of a split. I think that South Pitt has a good chance of winning IF they can get past Boyd.
  17. I don't think leather is really a Forrest fan. He's just trying to stir things up. The Forrest - Mt Pleasant score should speak for itself even though it was a close game until Forrest turned it over 8 times. Forrest does have an outside shot at the playoffs. However, they would need to win out and have some help. Plus they will be underdogs in two of the games against Moore County and Huntland.
  18. OK, let me restate it. Either the talent in Moore County is down or the talent at several of the other region 6 schools is way up. It's one of the two. Moore County is smaller than most of the other schools in Region 6 with I think only Huntland and Cornersville being smaller. With schools this size you are not going to have talent every year unless you are attracting it from neighboring counties. Which by the way is how the rest of the region assumes that Moore Co was so successful during their great run in the 90s. Look at Bruceton as an example. Do you think Sturdivant is all of a sudden a terrible coach. Of course not. They are simply down in talent. I could be wrong, I don't work with Moore County, maybe the staff isn't getting it done. I just find it hard to beleive a man who led his team to the Clinic Bowl just a few years ago has now become not good enough.
  19. Mac was/is a great football coach. Price is a very good coach and more importantly a very good man. To say that he has more talent the last year or two is a joke. The talent is clearly down now compared to the Mac era.
  20. Should be a good game. The winner likely finishes 3rd in the region, unless Waynesboro loses to both Collinwood and Mt. Pleasant. The loser probably finishes 4th and gets the pleasure of a trip to DCA. Ouch! Not much of a reward for a good season in tough Region 6A.
  21. We go live on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. However, I have heard several times that the most sucessful team in our region practices in shorts all week. I am not sure that our kids could stay focused without some live work.
  22. Where are the results? It has been well over a week now.
  23. Walking Horse Bowl - Lewisburg Butter Bowl - Pulaski? Crockett Bowl - Lawrenceburg Tobacco Bowl - Hartsville?
