*wipes a tear* tricklician, you're my hero *hug*
  2. I saw that in the paper, not only that, but Webb is 3-0 so far. Should be very interesting, but with no baseline for who Webb has played, it'll be tough predicting. I think, tho, if Oneida can keep the pressure on the back line as they've shown they can, they'll get on the board... the worry for me is Oneida's backfield, they haven't had to show much yet this year, this'll be their proving ground. They seem good, but with not much pressure yet, we'll see. If I had to predict, I think Oneida wins 3-1. It'll be entertaining, though. Looking forward to it!
  3. Not arguing that point. I agree they haven't been significantly tested yet, and from everything I'm hearing, they'll get that with Webb. All I'm saying is that they have the potential to be extremely good. Even against not-so-good teams, you can show brilliance that would still show against "better" competition. Looking forward to hosting Lenoir City, too... that'll be an epic, I think.
  4. Oneida's played three games so far, outscoring their opponents 21-0... I've only kept stats for the last 2 games, but by my count, they've only given up 1 SHOT on target in those 2 games, easily saved... flashes of pure brilliance, some letdown in the middle of the Cumberland County game, but overall, very, VERY good... especially when they can put DeAraujo, Grigsby, Swain, and Welch up front in their 4-2-3-1... Grigsby and DeAraujo have already formed a great rapport, they can be very, VERY dangerous against anybody. And they have plug-ins all over the field, Stevens, Brewster, Losher, Hamilton, and Chenowith... their back four is good with Wilder, Buhaly, Smith, and usually Grigsby... and Choi and Kim coming in this year as exchanges, along with DeAraujo, and McCulloch in goal... he hasn't had to do much yet, but Thursday should test him. I know I'm leaving kids out, don't be mad at me, I'm going by memory here ;P
  5. You know, you're right. Every official that could possibly make the playoffs got together before the season, in white robes in a cave in Chattanooga and decided who was going to win this year, and every official signed his blood oath that he would screw every other team to make it happen. IS that how this "conspiracy" started? I'm glad you brought this to everyone's attention. From now on, we'll play the games with no referees. Let fans call the fouls... and make sure the police aren't there, either. Then there won't be any conspiracy keeping some fans on a certain side of the gym, while "everybody else" gets away with everything. That would make for a FAR more entertaining game, right?
  6. I have heard (rumor only) that this was always going to be Nancy's last year at SHS, as she was leaving the state to be closer to her family. No idea at all about the veracity of that, but I hope she was able to leave on her own terms.

    Questions?

Gotcha, thanks Gotcha, thanks Gotcha, thanks

    Questions?

Other questions What's with the out of bounds thing? Is it that when the ball goes out, the team with the closest player to the ball when it goes out gets possession? And is it a free out? One thing I've never truly understood...
  9. Good to see ya again, MAS! I agree, Oneida is fond of the kick and chase... they look like a rugby team sometimes in that regard... but they have two very capable forwards in Grant Swain and a Brazilian exchange student (whose name I've yet to hear, I have to admit ) up front. Very quick, good on the ball... and Oneida supports well out of their brand new formation they're playing this year (see if anybody who doesn't play has noticed it). If you give them time, they're highly dangerous, in that they'll go from having 2 in the box to 6 in a heartbeat. I don't particularly care for the kick and chase game, but so far, it's been effective for the Indians. I'm VERY much looking forward to seeing Kingston this year, we'lll be traveling (our TV station that covers Oneida soccer) to Kingston for the District game there this year, so get the press box ready and have a Coke ready for me
  10. Oh, lord, here we go again Saw Oneida in a scrimmage Thursday, they look QUICK... I saw some issues that have to be worked out in the back, but they should work out with the return of the basketball players and 2 more weeks effort. Good corp of returning players, oughta be a fun season to broadcast, as again, tentatively, we're ognna cover all Oneida home games and the 2 district away games this year on TV.
  11. *OFF THREAD, BUT IN RESPOSE TO LAST POST* Why do people think because there is a large foul margin (eg. 7 to 2 in a half, or whatever) that it must be "the refs cheating/biased/blind/whatever"? Maybe, just MAYBE, the team with more fouls wasn't moving their feet as well, or slap happy, or getting fouls underneath, or whatever, just not as crisp as the other, less fouling team! There is NO rule, or even idea, that fouls should be even after a half/game. THAT would be cheating on the part of officials if they did that intentionally. Don't like the foul spread, move your feet, play harder and smarter on defense, practice harder, whatever. Don't blame anyone but yourselves. *BACK TO YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED THREAD* And I will edit this and say Abe, you really weren't complaining about that, and I don't want you to think this post was directed at you, it's just a rant I've held in a long time. Sorry you were the one to bring it out.
  12. Thank God, somebody said it. No, there is NO need for a shot clock. If you don't like that teams hold the ball, GUARD THEM. Get within 6 feet, a 5 second count starts, they have to give up the ball. Sitting back in yourlittle safe zone while they hold it is a strategic move. YOU'RE letting them do it. (I am, of course, referring to the teams, not the fans... don't get the wrong impression). A shot clock would just give the players, coaches, and especially referees something else to worry about, and in reading all the threads on here, the refs don't need anything else to worry about. The rules are there to stop it, so do something about it as a defense.
  13. All ya gotta do to stop that is get within 6 feet of them to start a 5 second count. If the defense doesn't wanna do that, tough noogies.

    And your point is.....?
  15. Actually, I am a ref But as for those other situations, it's an official who when he blows his whistle takes care to notice the time left (or his partner does) and can without a shadow of doubt in his mind put time on the clock. I've done it before, many times. Maybe the situation didn't let him take his eyes of the play long enough to get a glimpse of the clock, and his partners let it run out or whatever. I wasn't there, so I'd never pass judgement on a crew in that kind of situation. He just decided the clock ran out, and that was that. Hard to take for the losing team, yes. But without being there, I can't say wrong or right. And as the thread says, it would have taken a miracle to win.. if there was .7 seconds or less, it would have taken a catch and shoot, or with .3, a tip to count... tough to do. But that's the situation as I see it.
  16. By rule, if time expires in the judgement of the officials, and a foul is called, there should be free throws attempted only if it can make a difference in the outcome of the game. 3 point lead, 2 throws, you get that part. Apparently the official(s) believed that the excess runoff was within tolerance (Nobody can react instantaneously to a whistle, some runoff is expected). Either that, or he had a hot date that night and needed to get out of there
  17. Granted in most cases, you're right, but if you called every instance of that, you'd be there til Kingdom Come.
  18. Lombardo had 20 on the night, and really took over his team's offense in the second half... kline's bucket was his only points... Scott had three in double figures, Jeffers, Sam Phillips, & Derek Boshears, with 14, 13, & 13.. Eric Miller had 10 for LC... AS said before, LC's first lead was with 1.5 to play... A few of LC's fans rushed to court after Kline's bucket, Scott's fans were praying for a T, didn't get it... what else... The folks from WLNT & WLIL were very nice, and made me feel at home... that's about it.
  19. Well, yes, but being very simplistic, lacrosse is just field hockey where you can pick up the ball with your stick ;P
  20. Okay, so enforcement is like hockey, penalty box and power plays and the like. Cool. It sounds like the game is based alot on hockey, just basically a cup/net on the end of the stick instead of a blade, and a ball instead of a puck. Could you essentially call it summer hockey? :justwrestle:
  21. I think of Oneida can plug the hole left by the graduation of their central defender, they've got a great shot
