  1. I was just wondering how Meigs faired in the scrimmage against Loudon. If anyone knows anything please post.
  2. Charlie Mobryant from Meigs County is one of the top linebackers in the state. He may not be considered the best this season, but that is only because he is a Junior. As a soph. he had around 125 tackles, 5 ints., 9 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries. Last season he was 6'3" 190 lbs. I haven't seen him this summer, but I would have to think he has gotten bigger, stronger, and faster.
  3. If they graduated in '96, neither one of them won Mr. Football for the '95 season. I know this for a fact. We had people in the running for both. I went back and looked at my clinic bowl program and Brown and Dobbs won it for that season.
  4. The only way Maurice won Mr. Football was if he graduated in '97, but I thought he was a senior on the '95 team. Clint Brown from Westmoreland won it in '94 and '95. Corey Dobbs (also from Westmoreland) won the lineman Mr. Football in '95. I was a senior on the '95 Meigs team and I don't think Maurice was even a finalist in '95, but I do remember Fontenot was. They were a very good and disciplined team. It would be hard for me to believe that Goodpasture could have a better team this season.
  5. Remember you heard it here first. MEIGS WINS THE REGION!!!
  6. Meigs will have a chance at the region title this year. They do return almost all of their linemen on both sides. Tyler is back for his 3rd year starting. The Mobryant brothers are going to be a force this season. Charlie finish the season (as a Soph.) with over a hundred tackles, and his brother (a Soph. this season) will punish people from his running back spot. The senior class is full of good linemen, who will be starting for their 3rd season. I have also heard that some more athletes may be comeing out for this season, so yes Meigs has a shot at region title.
  7. First somebody asked about C. Mobryant; he is a Sophmore. Now about the game. Ya'll can win this Tigers. Goodpasture is not that good. Play hard and give it all you got, cause if you don't this season is over, and seniors, most of your football careers are over. I was a senior on the team that played against Goodpasture in the state champioship, and would love to see you guys put them out in the first round on their home field. Just give it your all, because this may be it. Meigs 28 Goodpasture 21
  8. Those two were great, but the best double sport athletes we have ever had, were Floss Wilson in the early 80's I think he was all-state in 3 sports I think and won mr. backetball. Also in the mid 90's Bryan Peck he was a senior on the 95 state champ runner up football team and is now playing minor league ball for the Rockies.
  9. Great game Rockwood. You wanted it more. Good luck in the rest of your games.
  10. Noticed that 87% are picking Rockwood to win this one on the big ones. For the last 3 weeks we have been the underdogs and seems like the players like it that way. Can't wait for the game tonight.

    Team Escorts

Meigs has a police escort to all away games. They also changed the colors of the cars about 6 years ago to orange and black. Don't know if this was on purpose, but it looks good. Just wish we could paint a bus up like the police cars.
  12. Not many people have much to say about this game. It could be a good one. Last season Meigs was only down 6-0 at the half and played very well in the second half, but a couple of interseptions thrown by our Freshman QB did us in. The MC Tigers are playing very good, and I expect a close game.
  13. We are a very young team, and took a couple of close games to bring it together. We also had 4 key players out for the first 3 games. No we are not a pro team, but we do have many threats for a defense to worry about. I was really trying to take the heat off the coach, and put it on the fact that the players didn't come ready to play. A coach can adjust all he wants, but if a team dosn't come ready to play it won't help.
  14. Didn't Andy Kelley come from Rhea Co? I think he is still playing Arena football.
  15. I don't think he did last season, but he did the two seasons before that.
  16. Another that I can think of was Jermaine Copeland from Harriman. He played at UT and then went to CFL for a while. Last I heard was trying to play for the Cowboys.
  17. Too Tall is from TN? Where is Merry High School?
  18. He is a great back, and he would still be above average if you played a harder schedule. Averageing 196 yards a game in the first half though. Do you not see anything wrong with this picture?
  19. I heard the author make a comment on TV last Saturday about the city of Valdosta, GA just finished a 6.5 million stadium pretty much for their highschool football team. Is this a fact, and how did they get the money for that? I have been through there a few times and there dosn't seem to be much there. I know they have had a lot of good seasons, but dang!
  20. I went and looked at Ooltawah's schedule and wow. It's a pretty weak schedule. No wonder your running back had so many yards the first couple games. You haven't played anybody. It would make you a better team for playoffs if you would play some better teams.
  21. The Program was a great movie, until they took out the part in the road. It was a very good movie, and I don't think there was too much hollywood in it. This movie could be great, but it won't. It is being directed by the same director that did 8 Mile. I am afraid that it will be hip hoped up and want do justice to the book. Great book; OK Movie
  22. Meigs Co. has had two, that I can think of. Jeff Smith who played for a few teams, but ended his career with the Titans a few years ago. Now he is working with the Vols in some way. Also, we had Robby Scott who played a couple of seasons for the Redskins. Both went to UT. There may be more. I know this is it, since the mid 80's.
  23. Just wondering what highschools have sent who to the pro's in TN. Meigs has a couple, but I will keep them for now in case this thread doesn't take off.
  24. I think 15 is just right. We must protect these players. You should not even think about touching a face mask. And a coach chewing your butt for costing him 15 yards is a good way to keep it from happening.
