  1. Yeah, I heard McNair's cap number for the '06 season is astronomical, like around 50 million because of all of the restructuring. Tennessean is reporting that the Titans will release Mason ( along with Miller, Nedney, Rolle, Holcombe, and Carter ). It's a shame the Titans couldn't get any value for these guys, especially Mason and or Rolle.
  2. I'm not recommending it ( and definitly not hoping it ) but do you guys think Brandan would be helped out by going to Oak Hill next year, especially if he plans to enter the '06 draft? ( note: I have no idea if he's even considered it, I'm just throwing the ? out )
  3. As much as I've hated it when USN stalls against BA, I see why they have done it. They tried to run with BA last night and the result- BA 80 USN 27. BA is playing very well right now heading into districts next week and their first game will be another laugher, College Heights- Monday @ MBA.
  4. Hold on everybody, espn.com is reporting that owners and players have agreed on a 45 million dollar cap and will meet Saturday in hopes of saving the season, looks like we COULD see some hockey this year.
  5. Though I won't argue that BrandAn ( spelled wrong on thread title ) could benefit from a year or two in college, the option for him to jump to the NBA will be there ( barring injury or other unforeseen circumstances ). Some of you guys might not think he's ready, but experts who know are predicting he could be a top pick in 2006, if you don't believe me check out www.nbadraft.net. That is just one of the many sites who predicts Brandan will be drafted high in '06, should he choose to enter the draft.
  6. Very sad, just hope my beloved Preds survive.
  7. BA didn't ask to be split from publics, and obviously you have to play who is in your region ( by the way Ryan and BGA are both quality teams ). However BA has played quality public schools- Giles, Science Hill, MLK, Maplewood not to mention all of the out-of-state competition. And winning the DII basketball crown is no small feat, remember BA had never done it before 2 years ago, even with David Harrison. There are talented DII teams from all over the state ( Baylor, Knox Catholic, Christian Brothers etc. ) so the state tournament never has been ( nor will it be this year ) a cake-walk for BA. And assuming you're a Page fan, tell your coach to schedule BA, they've proven they're better than Giles so go ahead and do the math.
  8. BA dominates in this one taking home a 21 point victory. BA built a 30+ point lead in the third fueled by a 21-2 run before putting in backups and allowing BGA to close the gap to around 20. Both Brandan and Brian Wright each had multiple dunks. BA's press was suffocating and BGA could barely get the ball past half court many possessions. Very impressive win for BA.
  9. BA's 13 point win earlier in the season is somewhat deceptive. BA should've won the game by over 20 but at the very end one of BGA's players put on a 3 point shooting clinic against BA's back-ups to make the score more respectable. With that in mind I'll give BGA a few points for the home court advantage and say BA 58 BGA 46
  10. First off, all of this trade talk is nonsense. Somebody called in to a Titans Postgame show with Pat Ryan and Mike Keith late in the season and proposed we trade McNair, and both of them laughed. Due to McNair's huge cap number and all of the complexities of the cap, trading for somebody with McNair's age and cap number and injury history just isn't feasable for many if any teams. I see McNair coming back this season, and than just taking it year by year after that. Also, coaches don't count towards the salery cap.
  11. BA has been playing exceptionally well since their 2nd victory vs. Giles, I don't see anything being different tonight, BA will take this one by 12-15 points.
  12. I strongly agree with GotMilk. Yes, the Titans did have a tough year, but you're not looking at the big picture if you call the Titans a poor franchise. They are not a bad franchise like say the Cardinals, they simply had a rough year due to injuries and such. And even if the Titans do have to " blow up " their roster some time due to the cap they can still be back in contention in a year or two just like the Ravens did several years ago.
  13. I'm not a fan of either team but I did notice that Giles Co. blew Page out of the gym tonight, all you Page trash-talkers should be ashamed.
  14. Interesting to hear about Auri, thanks for that itzme.
  15. Obviously I wish BA could've pulled this one out, but I for one am very proud, it sounds like we stood toe to toe with one of the more elite programs in the country and almost pulled it off. This was a school with 5 times BA's enrollment and a much richer basketball tradition, BA could've been intimidated but it sounds like they brought their A game. Congrats to both teams on what sounds like a great game, now BA can learn from this and work on bringing a third gold ball back to Brentwood.
  16. Just doing a little research on Mater Dei as I wait for an update, check out this team's credentials and look at the size of their basketball staff, 13 people in all! The 2003-04 CIF semifinalist Monarchs, under the guidance of Coach Gary McKnight, have enjoyed tremendous academic and athletic success over the past 22 years. Coach McKnight has led the Monarchs to five state championships, 17 CIF championships, 21 league championships, and an overall record of 663-62. The Monarchs average over 30 wins a season. Coach McKnight is the winningest coach in Orange County boys' basketball history. In addition to the team success, nine players have been named CIF Player of the Year and many more have gone onto successful college careers. The boys' basketball program offers five teams. Varsity Gary McKnight – Head Coach Bob Servin – Associate Head Coach Jason Quinn '90 – Assistant Coach Sean Stevenson – Assistant Coach Chris Abeyta – Assistant Coach Junior Varsity Jack Tuz – Co-head Coach Ryan Barintina – Co-head Coach Carl Smith – Assistant Coach Ben Villa – Assistant Coach Sophomore Mike Garcia – Head Coach Freshman (three teams offered) Bob Thrall – Head Coach Steve Scoggin '00 Jim Waiden
  17. Looks like we've got a game, update as much as possible please!
  18. What time is the game? Will anybody have updates?
  19. I am pulling for BA 100% and believe they can pull this off if they play great, but either way this will be great expierence for the team and should help them come tourney time. And I agree with Wes.....nice to see an MBA fan come out of hiburnation, RRR- did you see Brandan's dunk on Thursday @ MBA?
  20. I read in the paper that this is a tournament.....will BA keep playing if they win or have to come home? Also, are there other any big name schools participating?
  21. Definitly BA, Father Ryan, BGA from the middle, I haven't seen enough of the west and east to guess those. Does anybody know where region tournament is for the middle this year? Also, are sub-state and state at David Lipscomb again?
  22. WOW, guess BA wasn't too hung over after their huge win over Giles. I'm not going to even try to break it down. There was just domination from BA from the opening tip to the final whistle in almost every aspect of the game, let's just hope BA doesn't get too big-headed, there's still a lot of basketball to be played. But as for tonight, GO EAGLES- i couldn't be more proud.
  23. BA pulled out an OT thriller two weeks ago at Father Ryan. The rematch is tommorrow night @ BA , can BA stay undefeated in the state?
  24. I was caught off guard by the quote also, I assumed possibly the overtime football win over MBA two years ago, or maybe one of his 9 state championships would qualify as the greatest night in BA sports history. There is always the possibility of a mis-quote, which I hear are very common in The Tennessean or that Flatt was just trying to show some love for the basketball team-which is a classy thing to do, either way I don't think a huge deal should be made about it.
  25. I know Giles is bitter about losing, but that's pretty weak- chalking it up as a win just because you think Smith outplayed Wright- which is definitly up for debate. Yes, Smith had one AMAZING dunk, but Brandon had 3 dunks and swatted Tyler out of the gym one time. I personnally don't remember who outplayed who last year but I do remember that Giles Co. won both, I think in a few years I will remember that BOTH players played very well this year but BRENTWOOD ACADEMY as a team pulled both of them out.
