  1. Danny Gilbert all the way. He's a great ref, knows his stuff, makes the right calls, lets you know whats going on (especially on back points)
  2. do any of you think that women's freestyle wrestling would be able to take flight at the end of the season?
  3. correct me if i am wrong, but didn't notre dame end up winning the tournament because the coach couldnt handle the fact that ooltewah stepped it up and beat them? didn't he argue about the scores and pestered the staff so much that they let him re add the scores and they supposedly won by a mere half a point?
  4. yes i can understand what you are saying cb, and the many of the point raised by many of you are good ones and should be addressed, but i'm not going to sit back and just let some things be said, i am allowed to have my opinion as well. i just do not think some people have a clear understanding of exactly what female wrestlers are about. i understand the conceptions of many southerners and am grateful for them. but there is a time and place for that. girls still deserve respect and being a gentleman and opeing doors and pulling out chairs should still exist, but when it comes to sports and other competitions, wheres the equality?
  5. Michael Morelan, who are you and what is your connection with the wrestling program. and also, what is your relationship to Miranda from the McMinn Central team? i have seen her wrestle on several different occassions and i just dont understand why her name is constantly brought up across these message boards.
  6. haha i dont believe this. do you consider yourself a good coach? even an ok coach? i mean, as a coach you should be able to demostrate moves without touching a girl. thats the funniest thing i've ever heard, a coach resigns because he cant teach a girl moves without touching her in private places. heres what you do, you show the girl how to do the moves on a guy, and tell her to watch. theres nothing nasty or sexual or anything about it. nothing can be misconstrude. i have never been around a coach that was so worried about touching a girl that he couldnt conduct a practice or instruct a team. you being a coach i would think that if u had a girl on the team you would try and make her the best in the area and be proud of her and teach the boys on the team a little respect and equality for the opposite gender. way to be a great role model for your team. teach them that you cant compete with girls, they are inferior and are not worthy expressing there love for the sport of wrestling by participating in it. way to go coach.
  7. not appropriate? grow up. and no one asked about your family. and i also hope that wasnt a crack at my family. what happened to everyone being treated equally?
  8. kevin, if you raised your daughters right then they would respect themselves and know when a line was being crossed in practice. if you raised them with a love for the sport they woiuld be out there on the mats because they liked wrestling, not to prove a point that girls can wrestle. of course no father wants to see his little girl being touched and beaten by other boys and he not have any control over it. but touching is a part of the sport. pain is a part of the sport. girls are not violated enough in one practice or match for anyone to be offended. as for your second point on the volleyball issue and title 9, thats completely true and i agree with your statement
  9. ok Sly, i'm so sick and tired of the lame what if boys wanted to play volleyball arguement. you find a boy that wants to play volleyball and tell him that the only way he can do it is on the girls team, see if he does. he sure could, but of course hes not going to want to. guys pride themselves on competition with other guys, having him compete with gisl wouldnt proove anything. go ahead and start a boys volleyball league if you deem it nessicary. its not ironic, its just that boys dont want to play volleyball with girls
  10. do u have a problem with girls wrestling the boys? afraid the girls will win? it happens
  11. Go get 'em Flipin!! i completely agree!!
  12. Just out of curiosity, if you all could rank each of these teams, what would the order be? Soddy seems to always have a strong team and Ooltewah, Red Bank, and East Ridge all seem to be close this year. How would u rank these teams?
  13. the team from New York will be there. I think the name is like Central Square or something.
  14. all it is, is a bunch of girls from red bank and soddy trying to act like they know about wrestling. ur just gonna see a bunch of girls get rowdy and upset off when they start loosing or getting their butts kicked in a match. now granted a lot of the soddy girls know about wrestling because they have been managers for the longest, but still, its just gonna be a show. just drama
  15. haha, yup, the Old School Ballas are gonna be pretty rowdy this season. Ooltewah's got an awesome team. Gotta give some credit to the Daisy Crazies though, they show some good spirit as well. I think Ooltewah has stepped it up a notch since last season though, OHS has a ton of spirit.
  16. What schools do have one or more girls on their teams? I'm not talking about teams like Soddy and Red Bank that have a separate thing for girls and they wrestle each other like a powderpuff. I'd like to know which ones have them on the team with the guys. The only ones i can think of right now are Soddy Daisy and Ooltewah.
  17. krnsftblfan30, first of all, if you were serious about wrestling, you would be. it wouldnt matter that the coach didnt want you to. you can if you really want to. but i guess ur one of those girls that is just out there to make a statement and prove something, instead of being out there for the love of the sport. the coach prolly doesnt want you on the team because its more work with girls wrestling on the guys teams. more liability, worrying about facilities, weighing, its a lot to look at.
  18. Ooltewah's team if full of hard workers. Even with Bird coaching, the team has been able to hang on and get the job done. The team has had to step it up a couple notches, but it will all be worth it in the end. Good Luck to the Owls this year.
  19. Go Owls!! I'm so proud of all the girls playing this year. Sarah Carrico, what a haus. way to go Sarah!!! Jessie Watson, the girl an fly, shes got speed and attitude. Holly, yeah, watch out for Holly!!! Awesome job ladies!!
  20. i agree with cheernbhappy. at matches or dual meets having cheerleaders is different and there is room, but at tournaments, there is absolutely no room for cheerleaders. and gradfromthenest you are one of the only fans that wants the cheerleaders there. i wonder why
  21. I think that coaches always like to see that their schools support their teams and for wrestling, a lot of the suppoirt comes from cheerleaders. There are not many fans that attend matches and to see the wow wonderful cheerleaders there makes it seem more important.
  22. haha, centralbasketball, you crack me up. "your offically retarded" haha, i dont think you know what your talking about though. the best fans attend ooltewah and soddy. barrelboys cant touch the refs or the daisy crazies
