Baseball Cards....
Fuggly63 replied to Fuggly63's topic in Lookouts, Redbirds, Smokies, Sounds, & Major League Baseball
Thanks for that, gotmilk. I have actually been bidding on Albert Pujols rookie cards on ebay, and I can get them on this website for cheaper. I owe ya one! -
You know, with all of the history in baseball happening this year (or the potential for, I should say), I went through my baseball cards. This is something I haven't done in close to five years. After about five hours of looking up the value's in Beckett's, I started to think about how popular baseball cards USED to be with kids and adults. I rarely ever see kids with baseball cards anymore, and even adults are hard to come by. Anyway, I have two questions: 1. Are you and/or your kids (if any) still collecting? 2. What do you think happened to the popularity of baseball cards? I can't really answer the second question myself. There are probably lots of reasons and I would bet that X Box would be the first one.

Albert Pujols

Number 19 last night. Rolen had a heck of a night as well. -
Albert Pujols

Ha ha, same here. Yeah, I have thought about that as well. What I don't understand is why pitchers are intentionally walking Barry Bonds more than Pujols (not that I am complaining). I'm hopeing that pitchers just pitch to him so that someone who doesn't take steroids will hold that HR record once again. -

Hey Solomon, glad to see you made it to see a game in the new busch. I love the pictures. Makes me even more excited to go in July. We have tickets for the Cardinals - Rockies games on the 14 and 15? I think that's right. Oh, and we are also heading to Atlanta fourth of july to see them play the Braves. -

Through five, Carpenter has 7 K's, 0 ER, 4 hits, and 1 BB. Looking pretty hot so far. -

Cards are now 3-0 and tied with Milwaukee for first. The pitching has looked better than average thus far. If the starters and the bullpen keep up the good work, and we throw Looper in the mix, there will be no reason not to win that WS Championship this year. -

No way Solomon. I could't leave a Cards fan hanging like that. Been lots of places this winter (St. Louis, Tuscaloosa, Gatlinburg, Atlanta), so I haven't had much time to get on the T. -

Sounds good to me. I would rather the Card's win in four just to make the NL look good again, but I guess most people would call that greedy. -
Just wanted to see what anybody had planned for Super Bowl XL. Anybody doing anything exciting or what?

White Sox
Fuggly63 replied to bballer13's topic in Lookouts, Redbirds, Smokies, Sounds, & Major League Baseball
I'm going to have to agree. A lot of teams bettered themselves this offseason, and the White Sox were not one of those teams. No repeat. -

I tell you what, man. I am so darn mad at the blues right now it's unbelievable. There is absolutely no logic in trading away our best players. Weight is now a hurricane and Sillinger a pred. I can understand getting good draft picks, but gosh, at least keep your leading scorer. Maybe in a few years they will be back on top, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. I just can't wait until baseball season now. -
The way that Big Ben, The Bus, and Polamalu and the Steel Curtain have been playing, it would be wrong to pick against them. The defense has already shut down two of the top three offenses in the NFL, Seattle should go the same way. If Pitt can split the carries between Parker and Bettis, and establish the running game, then Big Ben and Heinz Ward will take care of the rest. Therefore, I will take Steelers in a semi-close game: Steelers - 27 Seahawks - 17 (Not to mention, the Steelers are way overdue for a Super Bowl victory)

Hey dandy, I think you'll be proud of me for this one. My brother is a huge Preds fan, and as you know, I am a "Bloser" fan (i have to call them that now because the literally stink.......... bad). Anyway, my brother got me tickets to the April 15th game vs Phoenix. I am more psyched about seeing Wayne Gretzky, but I will be rooting for the preds. My brother even went as fas as getting me a jersey for gameday. Don't think I am bandwagoner by no means. I hate bandwagon fans. The blues are still #1 in my heart, but hockey this season hasn't felt right with them on the losing end of almost every game. This is the only way I will be able to watch hockey for the next couple of seasons (by going to a preds game). -
Yeah, I realize that now. I'm stressing out over the cardinals and the season hasn't even started yet. Go figure.... Breakout year..... Gosh, I am just praying that he doesn't have a breakDOWN year. Visions of Rick Ankiel keep running through my head. This is just more money wasted. At least the contract is only for a year, so really, you are probably right. Hopefully with Rolen back next year, he and Pujols can produce enough runs so that we don't have to worry about our pitching.

What's the Civil suit all about? Sorry, I obviously don't keep up with UT football.
