talent in Campbell county has always been there. The only problems Campbell ever has is getting players to play, or keeping them from transfering to Anderson Co. The talent is there this year, and if they play together they can shock a lot of people. I wouldnt say they will be a state contender, but they will give about everyone they play fits...

Score was LC 62 Sq 50, but Sq scored 30 against the subs in the 4th. It was a blow out, but the score didnt reflect that b/c LC was giving some younger players playing time.

I was at the LC game, and yes it was a slaughter. Sequoyah did score 30 points on the subs for LC in the 4th quarter. Jones is one of the best athletes around the knoxville area, but against LC, when he had trouble getting the ball, it looked like he started pouting. Then he quit playing defense. He did score 14 against LC, but 8 of those were against the subs. If Jones plays as hard as he can, then he will help Sequoyah out tremendously. For the rest of the team. They have no guard presesence. LC who isnt the quickest defense team had 7 steals in the first half and 12 for the game. That is about 7 more then they should have. Also, Sequoyah shoots way too many 3's, They need to work from inside out and they will be more successful. They had a sub who played the 4/5 spot that shows some athletic ability, and if he plays under control then he help take some heat from Jones... Overall Sequoyah will be improved, but I would be surprised to see them win 15-20 games...

Alcoa, has 2 contributeing players still in football. They might have more, but im not totally sure. one of them would of been huge underneath in stopping jones..

I went and watched the Sequoyah/ LC game last night, and I ws disappointed in how Jones acted and played. As soon as LC got a lead Jones quit trying to do anything, and when Sequoyah started to knock down some shots he finally started playing. Jones also doesnt play any defense. He seems like a player that thinks he is all world and he isnt. If he wants to play college ball then he needs to change his attitude real quick. Yes you are right Jones should score 20 plus a night, but he will be the decideing factor in that. Its all in his attitude. Also, when Sequoyah went to the full court press Jones had to play defense and it helped out tremendous, but in a 1/2 court 2-3 he just stood under the basket and tried to block shots, which he was unsuccessful at...

I went and watched LC play Seqouyah. THey look good this year. It looks they are really haveing fun out there and that is what is important. Coach Gray is doing a great job with letting these boys play, and when they get wild he brings them back in. For LC they were great at times and bad at times. Any time they got a big lead, they started trying to do to much and it hurt them. Also, turnovers cost them several opportunities in the second half, but it is was the first real game and that is what you can expect. Goodluck tonight against Greeneville, and keep up the good work. Also, I would like to hear how the rest of the district faired in their first week. I dont have access to the Knox paper, so this all I get...

Your stuff on LC is quite inaccurate. They return 3 starters from last year. Kyle Lombardo, Brad Miller, and Bryce Cusick. Also, Ryan Rhodus started sometimes also... LC only lost 4 players last year (Singleton, Ressigue, Draper, & McNabb) They lost good talent, but nothing that isnt already replaced. For Faragut, they shot LIGHTS out in the first. 25-5 after the first. Then Coach D, had Gray put LC in a 2-3 zone and it was close from there out. LC was unable to matchup in a man to man. LC also had a poor shooting night...

Also, LC beat west the other night to, a team that would of ran all over Farragut and your church team... Give LC time and they will be surprise teams...

Give be a break. Farragut hit everything they threw up in the 1st quarter, and they were nervous because for a lot of them they, theat was their first varsity game with a lot of playing time. After the 1st LC stayed even in the last 3 quarters.. LC didnt give up and that is what matters, that is why they play these HOF games, so they can their feet ready before the season starts. Also, Jason Vance didnt play becasue of the FLU, he is LC's 6'6 starting power forward, who can light it up from about anywhere. He would of helped tremendously, b/c he would of taken some heat off of Bryce, the other big man... For farragut, like every year they will have tons of talent that will be wasted on a poor coaching staff. And I havent seen any church leagues teams that could beat any high school team. There is a dfferent style of ball, and church league is pretty much organized street ball. Give me a break if you think your church league can beat any high school team.... For lucas Hamilton, he is a freshman and you might not see him this year on varsity, but next year LC loses alot, so he will probably be starting.... He just has to get tougher, ability isnt his problem..

i JUST TALKED TO COACH D, IT SOUNDS LIKE LC REALLY PLAYED WELL AGAINST WEST. EXCEPT THAT FREE THROW SHOOTING. ANYWAY, IT IS GOOD TO HEAR, AND KEEP IT UP...

Isnt that what this site is for.. I cant say I agree with everything Bonfire says, but if you goto other threads he gives LC and other teams a lot of credit, more positive then negative, so I dont mind his critiques of weaknesses. For LC it will take some time to get into the season. They lost a key senior last year (Singleton) and not having his presence is making other players have to step up... LC has a lot of players with inexperience, 3 guys Dorsett, E. Miller and Vance, did not get much varsity play last year and now they are getting lots of playing time, so it is a big leap.... Also, from the guy that said LC didnt show much, give them time, they have the potential to be a strong team in their district.......

How did LC look last night. Was the big man underneath a factor. How did Kyle do running the point against an athletic team, without Singleton to bail him out this year.... Any improvements from last year.... How did Coach Gray do running the team...

I agree with Bonfire,last year when we played you all had about 10 students there, that isnt what I would call crazy, we had mroe students there and we had to travel an hour to get there... anyways who is your alls new coach, you all lost a great one in Andy.

Oh I almost forgot- If BLake Cline does play this year and sticks out then he will be a great needed guard off the bench... It might just take a little while for him to get his game up to speed, but if he is patient then it will happen and the district better watch out becasue he has the ability to hurt you off the bench...

Hold up a minute..... LC will be a great team this year... Im sure the players have a good idea who this is to...... Yea Grey is getting his feet wet, but Coach D wont let anything come in between Greay's inexperience and the team... Coach D will be the man win it comes down to times when it matters.... For the players on the team they lose a great coach who had the greatest respect for, but The one thing that is better now is the kids have their heads clear and have a mind set to win the district... YOu all will need to watch out for this team becasue they can hit you from all directions.... Kyle Lombardo can penetrate, and if learns to kick out more then he will be even more effectice.. Brandon Dorsett can shoot when he gets his feet set, and has quick hands on Defense... Blake Jones- might not have much basketball talent, but this kid gets me fired up when I see him play defense.. Brad Miller will be the same Brad you have seen the las 2 years still shooting and hitting threes... BUT watch out there are 3 players this year that you didnt hear from much last year. Jason Vance- about 6'6 can fill it up from inside or out and plays very smart, Ryan Rhodus- great defense and rebounder and if he isnt shy with his shot then he will knock some down this year, Eric Miller- I dont know how he does it but this kid can score, it might not be the prettiest but he gets it done on both ends of the court... OH YEAH dont let me forget the Big MAn Bryce Cusick-- He was embarrassed with his play last year and is ready to prove a point this year.. He will be the most dominant post player in the district, and no one will be able to match up with him except maybe Scott Co if Lewallen has returned... Goodluck to the Panthers this year, and play one game at a time...

Kerr might recruit but give me a break, again if you dont know what you are talking about then maybe you should check out the cheerleading board, they may be up to your speed.. I never said Edmiston was a bad QB, I went to watch him last week and I was not impressed with his passing ability. We are still waiting on game tapes.. I mostly said that if recruited we would like to see how he did at defensive back.. His athletic ability is tremendous, and I fill, and that is my opinon, that Edmiston could be a heck of of a DB, If he was about 25 pounds heavier he could also be a great Running Back in D1... I think Edmistion is as good as it gets in Tennessee High School Football, If I were a high school coach I would want him on my team.. I never said he was a bad QB, If you dont know the info dont bring it up...

If you are so smart then you know James Banks even though he is our best receiver is still the 3rd String QB, but they list only as a receiver......And it is not uncommon to see walk ons calling plays, especially cooter, he is a a very smart QB, I was just correcting the person saying he is the 3rd string QB.. He will be lucky to ever play a down, that doesn't mean he wont, but I wouldnt bet on it..If Cooter is smart he will keep doing what he is doing, and then one day become a QB coach and so on and so on until he moves up the ranks...THats is how Cutcliff got started in College Football..

Jim Bob Cooter is not the 3rd string QB at TN, He is a scout team QB, but he rotates with two other walk ons....Anyone can walk on at UT, even if you have never played all you have to do is show up and give it your all, so dont try and beef him for something that he isn't....Please more intelligence when posting......

Good Post. You hit the nail on the head with Catlett. I heard the same thing... No one gave him a chance b/c he wasn't ready to let the clinton clique tell him how to coach the team.. Any team would be crazy to pass on Catlett as a coach, but I heard he is going back to help Coach COllege ball.

Kerr was smart enough to get a contract on his pay, both coaches used to be paid the same but Gaylor wasn't smart enough to get it in writting. They tried to take away Kerrs money too, but Kerr had a contract that was set in stone. Smart move by Coach Kerr if you ask me... What do you ecpect Kerr to take a pay cut just b/c the Clinton Coach had to... What would you do in his case, I would bet take the money$$$$$$$$$$$$ Anyways even without the extra supplement Anderson Co and Clinton coaches still get paid better then Knox Co schools, and they have lower living expenses... BBall is the same way too. The assistant basketball coach at AC gets paid the same as the head coach at Lenoir City.. That doesn't seem fair, but it is. YOu have to get lucky in where you coach and besides Maryville and blount Co schools, Anderson Co schools is as good as it gets... Maybe if other teams had thier towns support the way AC does then their coaches would get better pay.
