  1. I also have much respect for the Oak Ridge football team and always have. I have said that many times in past posts. The games I played against Oak Ridge are by far the most memorable to me and always will be. What has been said is not talking trash or "hating" whatsoever. I am sorry that the whole headset incident ever took place, but it really did and there is nothing that can be done now, but by no means is that "hating" on the wildcats. Trust me, the folks in Kingsport are looking forward just as much to this upcoming year. Good luck to the wildcats(unless the're playing DB) and I hope that I wasn't a "Wildcat Hater" in this post.
  2. I hate to be the 2nd person to get on here and speak about Oak Ridge's mysterious "11-man fake out" by Adonis Johnson. I started that game and was standing right beside coach Clark in the locker room when he was told that our signals were being scanned. I don't want to bash the Wildcats because I do have respect for them and their program, but that DID happen and it is a shame that a high school coach would pull something that low. Oak Ridge did beat us 21-10 at our place in 2000 right after we had knocked off Sevier County, but I would take that loss anyday to see what happened at Blankenship some playoff time. 32-6
  3. It doesn't get much bigger than a DB vs. Oak Ridge game. This game is absolutely nuts every year, and they always meet again in the playoffs. The biggest games I remember from my days as an Indian were always against Oak Ridge. DB and Sevier County have also had some classics. At least on the east side of the state, I think DB-Oak Ridge and Maryville-Alcoa are bvy far the biggest rivalries there are.
  4. TD3, Sorry, but you are sadly mistaken about that comment and obviously you don't know Lamon personally at all. He will not be at Riverdale next year and that is one of the most completely made-up ideas that I have ever heard. Sorry man, no Lamon for you. Peace
  5. It was DB in the semifinals in 2000. We beat Oak Ridge 32-6 in the quarterfinals and lost to Red Bank and Gerald Riggs 21-13 in the semis. By the way, there is no comparison between Region 1 and 2, Region 1 dominates.
  6. There's a prayer coming from this UT student for Matt today. The kid sounds like nothing less than a class act. Just keep on fighting and knowing that there is an army behind you Matt. Also, remember this quote from the late coach Jim Valvano. "Don't give up, don't ever give up."
  7. There will be some good scrimmages at DB this year. If not in the spring then definitely in the fall. They host a 4-way scrimmage evwery that hyas had Maryville, Morristown West, etc. in it in the past few years. It is always some great pre-season football to watch.
  8. Jeff. County is definitely on the rise, but I just don't see them unseating DB this year. If I remember correctly, the last few times that DB has not had any experience at quarterback they have gone to the state semis. What you have to understand CMoore is that we don't rebuild, we just reload. DB still runs the show in Region 1. Roll Tribe
  9. SCBBallFreak, I don't mean to be a jerk but if Josh Ward has already taken 20 official visits then the kid is inelgible. You are only allowed 5 official visits but as many unofficial visits as you want. Let me know if he has really taken that many cause I am a DB fan. LOL
  10. These people have every right to get on here and talk about how good White Station is because they are the defending state champs, but they also might learn a lesson the hard way for completely writing a team off. Granted, the odds are stacked against DB, but I don't think odds have ever had anything to do with the outcome of the game, what happens on the court determines that. I'll gaurantee you that every player on DB's squad had tremendous respect for the WS team, but I'll also gaurantee you that they will not be intimidated. I'm not gonna say that DB will win, but if they do, then it won't be crow some people are eating. It'll be Sh%#. Roll Tribe!
  11. Sorry guys, It's been a very busy week here in Knoxville for me with two midterms and a paper due, but I think I might be out of the woods now. I have an uncle who teaches at White Station, and he e-mailed me about the game saying that they are definitely a solid team, but most definitely beatable. He said that nobody who has played them is really fundamentally sound, and they always get intimidated and jump right out of their game plan. I don't see that happeneing to the Indians. From the similar experience of playing in semifinal football games I have learned that everything goes out the window at this point and anything can happen. Sometimes heart will take you a lot further than you think no matter how big and strong you are. I have my last exam on Friday before spring break, and if (when) we win on Thursday, I will be jumping straight in the car and heading to the 'buro for the 2nd time this year to watch a DB team play. I have that feeling in my stomach that these guys are the ones who can do it. Remember this one: "What matters is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog." Coach Vince Lombardi ROLL TRIBE!
  12. This really comes as no surprise to me. Greeneville is a great team, and DB almost learned that the hard way. I know my mind was changed about them when I walked out of Freedom Hall last Friday. Best of luck to all of the Maryville seniors and also good luck to the Green Devils. If I was a bettin man, I'd say we'll probably see ya'll again before this is all said and done. Roll Tribe!
  13. Who is the one from Kingsport? Is he a coach at DB?
  14. DB knocked off Bearden tonight and is on their way to the 'buro. I watched these guys play Greeneville for the Region title, and what stood out is how much heart they played with and never quit. I truly believe, that with a class act coach on board now, they have a legitimate shot at taking the whole thing. I believe the final was 75-62 if I was given the right score by my mom back in Kingsport. Anybody who was there let me know who played good and so on. ROLL TRIBE! "Don't give up, don't ever give up!" Coach Jim Valvano
  15. Good luck to all of the guys tonight. I saw ya'll play Greeneville on Friday and ya'll amazed me with how hard you played. Keep it up tonight and we're goin to the 'buro. Somebody get that score posted as soon as it's over. ROLL TRIBE!!!
  16. Could a better bunch of guys lost to Greeneville tonight? I had that feeling in my stomach earlier and WOW! Heard the "Hawk" played just about perfect as he quietly dropped 29 on Burns' bunch. Thats just too bad. I can't wait to get home tomorrow for the game. I havn't been this excited about DB sports since (take your pick) our semifinal games in football. I didn't even play basketball and I am as hype as anyone. Keep ya'lls heads on straight guys, and as long as you keep that mindset, IT'S ON. "Till I collapse"

    4 - 3 adjustmets

You can go to a "warrior" type look or a 4-4 by moving the strong safety up as another outside backer, moving one outside backer to inside, and playing your middle and strong side backers on the inside, and your weakside backer and SS on the outside. This formation gives you more speed to the corners and if your SS is a decent sized kid, you don't lose much size up front.
  18. One more thing. I have a weird feeling that Science Hill is gonna lose to Greeneville. I hope not, cause I wanna see DB take them out one more time, but its just a feeling. Peace
  19. bud, If the Indians win tonight then I'll be at Freedom Hall tomorrow so I'll try and find you. If anybody else is gonna make it then let me know cause I know me and KMAC will be there. ROLL TRIBE! Prediction: DB 72 Tn. High 50
  20. Just wanting to wish the Tribe good luck tonight, and if all goes as planned, tomorrow night too. I don't see them having a problem with Tn. High if they play focuded ball, and then its time for a showdown. Hopefully they win tonight and I'll get to watch them again for a change. Spence, you going to KPT. this weekend? Holla
  21. I think its going to be a good thing playing Tn High again simply because these guys KNOW they can beat them. If they keep playing the team ball they are right now, I don't see this ending any time soon. Hopefully I can get back and watch if they make it to the region finals. When will that game be? I wanna hear some stats about this game, or heck just tell me how many Lamon had. One. "Nobody who ever gave his best regretted it." Coach George Halas
  22. There is no denying the fact that Lamon Williams is a great reciever already, and is no doubt better than anything Science Hill has put out in a long while. His sophomore year was like nothing I've ever seen, but we have to remember that the kid has 2 more years to play, and anything could happen. Like I said, he will be ONE of the best recievers DB has had if he never catches another ball, but that doesn't make him comparable to any college reciever.(Especially Cecil Moore). Just support him and we'll see if he is a world beater in 2 years.
  23. Ok CMoore, I am getting real sick and tired of this completely irrelevant junk you have been posting on here. I tried to tell you nicely once, but you never even responded. Nobody on here cares about Cecil Moore, you, or even Johnson City as a whole(unless you are one of those people). The name of this thread is "Best WR in the State", not "I AM JEALOUS THAT PEOPLE THINK LAMON IS GOOD SO I WILL BASH HIM." Grow up man, and like I said on my other post to you, all you guys need to be doin right now is tryin to find a way to beat DB in anything. Football= It will never happen, Basketball= Sorry boys, you can't have that one either. If your boys are real dedicated and work real hard, the Scholar's Bowl team might nip us. (On second thought, naw not that either.) Peace player [Edited by TRIBE1 on 3-3-03 3:56P]
  24. What up Matt? This is Holt. I need to get Sammy to go to the buro' in a few weeks cause I think they really have a chance. I'll guarantee you Kevin'll go and then it'll be a full-fledged alumni convention. Take it easy!
