  1. And Ceaser your an idiot. No reason to be that way since they whooped your team whatever it is. If he has the oppurtunity to coach in College id tell him take it and run. It is afterall High School Football. [Edited by Chakra20 on 5-2-03 10:12A]
  2. Ezell lost 16 starters to grauation this year, so like we have said all along things go in cycles especialyl for a school of such a small size. While i do appreciate your tone and i think you need to grow up. They will still be better than most of the schools in 1A simply cause they have a great coach. They will still have a a good qb and 2 or 3 good receivers so they will be throwin the ball aorund ALOT more this year than they did the last few years. A winning season would be impressive unless we get the transfers they are talking about.
  3. We dont want anything given to us all we want is equality, which is the same thing you are looking for. VG brings up a good point that whats good for the goose is good for the gander. Everyone of the football championships was won last year by a school that has open zones Except Brentwood. As far as Recruiting and Scholarships a majority of schools DONT recruit in the typical sense, but since they are in business to have students they have to advertise it and thats all a majority of them do. That is the extent of recruiting. But i see there is some common ground for us and that is we agree that both types of schools need to have restrictions if they get kids from outside the zones. Such as Maryville who actually should be playin in 5A. We want equality given to us ie if public schools have those same types of perceived advantages then we want them moved up to. What i dont think many people relize is they are dealing with a system that is as old as dirt and they dont want to change it. If they do choose your gonna be surprised how many of the local teams will be forced to play up in classification. Milan, Maryville, All WIlliamson COunty Schools, Cloudland, Fulton, Ridgeway and there are many mnay more. You will end up with 25-50% of all publics schools having to play up just like the privates.
  4. We actually dont care as long as what everyone decides is justifiable across the board and its not just a witch hunt for private schools. If your gonna make zones and population density and issue then make it an issue. If your gonna make recruiting an isuue...Make it an issue. If you gonna make all these things an issue then make them an issue. But if you make them an issue for private schools then you have to make the same issue for all publics that have the same advantages that privates do, because there are many out there. I find it funny that we are all looking for the same thing EQUALITY. But noone wants equality if it effects the possiblity of winning, which is terribly wrong. Do the privates dominate 1a and 2A ?...Well look at the records ya they have for the last few years. Thats pretty cut and dry and i dont think most privates have aproblem with moving up it will just make them better in the long run. At the same time with possibly the 10-15 top programs leaving class A/AA the publics still want their 5 classifcations, which will make at least single A a joke. Everyone just wants equality but i think equality is different for every person. Some people just want to win a game ie Lighthouse CHrstian and some people want to win championships ie Collinwood, Ezell. So here we are stuck going over the same things over and over again and going nowhere because everyone wants what makes them happy. The only thing i will say is that atleast the privates have shown the willigness to give a little. The public school people that i see on here are not willing to give us alittle so why should we care. They will go with a multiplier because its the easiest one todo. Theis plan 4 is a joke and could never be implemnted.

    JCS downs USJ

BUt isnt the 37 foot wall down the left field line not right field line?
  6. A Majority of people in Tennessee really only care about Football when comapred to all other sports combined. I had posted earlier i thought the 3 classification thing would work, but i dont see the TSSAA wanting to lose the gates for all those playoff games cause basically that would cut them by 25%.
  7. Its like one school that has buses that pick people up from school. I would imagine its not a metro private school aither more like a FCS or somethin.
  8. Ezell Doesnt even have school buses just wondering what privates do. BA maybe?
  9. Exacttly what they want to happen. They want people to be up in arms about this decision. I think we will be going with a multiplier, simply because it makes the most sense. I have said it all along that if they split the schools entirely you will have less classes no doubt. I know its beating a dead horse but here we go.... 1A and 2A public schools could easily be combined because there is not much a differnce between the two. What ive stated before is also that our championships per thousands of people in the state is way out of whack in comparison with other states.6 championships is all that is needed in a state of this size. 8 freakin champions in a state the size of TN is rediculous. IMHO, as well that plan 4 would be way to difficult to implement but if the TSSAA is made outta money then they could do it. With the attitude the public schools have carried throughout his whole thing i would imagine 3 would be the way they would want togo, but they want to keep the same number of classes but I ask why. You are taking 20 teams out of the two divisions but they are the prolly 10-15 of the tops teams in those 2 classes. Wouldnt that just make it more watered down than it currently is? I mean i understand this all about winning some games and so forth and i understand why Collinwood would really want this. They just had the best team they prolly had in many years and they just got beat up once they played one of the decent private schools. I hope they choose the multiplier its the only one where everyone gets to play everyone and then people are placed in oppropriate divisions with the number of students that particiapate in sports. Overall i dont think the extremist public supporters will back any of these proposals. UNless plan 4 comes out to be something they can actaully do.
  10. I like alot of people on here havent weighed in on this debate lately, but Dandy id like to show you how some of the things you have brought up can be rebutted. Your question of open zoning not even being on the table of discussion is almost laughable. One of the public major points of refernce, is how unfair it is that private schools can draw from such a wide area. That is a legitmate complaint from small rural 1A schools that i can understand, but it doesnt change the fact that the rules they set forth have to apply to ALL classifiactions not just 1A. In your idea i think you want a seperate set of rules for small schools than large and thats ridiculous to me. sSecindly, if open zones is not an issue why is it that of the 8 football championships won 7 of them where from schools that have open zones in one shape or another. To talk to you about the emphasis schools place on sports. If a law was passed that said either you drop your sports program or your religiopus affiliations then guess what sports would be gone. Also, their empasis is making better young men and women the same as any public school should be not having a good team in one way or another. A good sports program is a result of YEARS of doing things the right way and learning from your mistakes. Kinda the way we were doormats for public schools for 15 to 20 years and just recently have learned what exactlly is needed to be suceesful at small schools. Coaching plain and simple for example Ezell was 2-8 the year before Coach SMith got there and then they go 9-3 and to the playoffs with the same EXACT players. As far as advertising there is not a rule against it does it mean its right ... Prolly not, but its not illegal and you adressed that. That is your personnel opinion and we all know what opinions are like...Everyone has one. That is one point i would agree is a gray area right now that needs to adressed so people dont have stones to throw. As far as enjoying winning ummmmm... im not sure what your point is here EVERYONE ENJOYS WINNING no matter who the opponent is. I agree that there is a reason people spend that money when they could send them to public schools for free and that is the feel they will have an advatage once they leave. They are not thinking about they will have an advantage while they are there. Lastly, private school supporters have agreed with you that we are willing to move up but most public school supporters have said we need togo to 4A or 5a and i think thats crazy. What calssifiaction would you say is fair? i think 3A would be a good palce.
  11. Ezell has a kid Stephen Huff , who is also a outstanding baseball player, that should be a great player for them this year. He is 6' 180 lbs and the story on him is he is LB/QB i found this to be kinda funny. He has a rocket for an arm but is also pretty tuff. They took him out of junior high ball becuase he grew so much it was kinda freakish and they afraid he a thyroid problem. The kid is very strong especially considering his age and should fill one of their linebacker spots for this year while he waits behind Schlappi for QB duties. His accuracy isnt great yet but he can throw the ball on a rope. I think he will only get better and will get plenty of oppurtunites to shine since Ezell graduated alot of players this last year.
  12. This is what a mojority of people would agree to.
  13. I dont think anyone would deny that having a good athletic/academic program helpd draw students to the school. The problem we run into is the grey area that everyone speaks of. Admission Procedures of some schools such as BA have to be called into question because of the types of athletes they draw. Brentwood Academy is an exception not a rule when it comes to who gets into schools and who does not. The smaller division 1 privates have grown and proably outgrown the 1A division but i dont see how kicking them out of the whole thing is the answer. The reason for division 2 was based on financial aid availability not if your program had matured to apoint where they defeated the people that used to kick their butts. I beleive SOME of the division 1 privates have out grown 1A sports but not all of them(Ezell Men Basketball 7-22). I think they have outgrown 1A but not not Division 1 and one of the main problems i see is that this time of political correctness has gone to far. Everyone wants things to be their way and dont care what it takes to get what they want. Im sorry if this offends anyone but i see the public schools as that child in a supermarket that throws a tantrum when they dont get what they want. You stand there and you want to go over to their parents and say STEP BACK and proceded to whoop the tar out of that kid.(DREAM OF COARSE) Everyone says the system is to blame but until privates where any good their wasnt a probelm so it all comes down to wins and losse. Lastly i made a post about this before but dont you people see that 7 of the 8 state champions had open zones everyone except Brentwood and i wouldnt beleive with their professional resources that all their kids live in their limits. Your cutting off you noise to spite your face if you ask me. I know Pujo only cares about 1a football but their is a much larger picture here that does affect 3 4 and 5A and should be taken into consideratino when they seperate the schools. ANyone with open zones magnets and privates make up one division and public school with fixed zones make up the rest.
  14. There are no private schools in 3,4 or 5A. There are more reasons for attending a private school than can be named. And BTW if you know of one example its one example of over 10's of thousands of students done by one school.
  15. You couldnt debate you way out of a wet apper sack.
  16. Pujo, Im not gonna comment on the posting of a young man that likes to talk alot. The reason he left Antioch was because his father made them and thats from his mouth. The had a very bad experience with Antioch high school as any caring parent should. DOes that explain why not only gattis but also his younger brother both where transferred out of public schools and into Ezell. I would look for better stuff than that PUJO. All he said is that he transferred because The program at ezell is better than antioch, which is true. Im pretty sure hes not gonna come on here an say " I transfeered because my dad made me". I think we have agreed before that Programs recruit themselves right? Well they do but public schools that have good reputations do the same thing. Maybe not in Roane Monutain but it happens elsewhere. Also i have never said that people didnt send their kids to Ezell for sports. Im sure it happens but in this case your taking the word a 16/17 year old kid, who will be their best player next year, and trying to base some kind of conspiracy theory when there isnt one. Cloudland has never got a player to come to their school in order to play football. It looks funny when you see it in black and white. Also kids dont decide where their parents spend 7-10 thousend for their education. [Edited by Chakra20 on 3-13-03 5:26P]
  17. Well lets just look at Division one sinc you guys wanna discuss everything from Cooks to salaaries and etc... which has nothing to do with what i posted try to stay focused i know its hard but lets at least try. 5 championships at that level. 2 private schools won Lipscomb and CPA. 3 publics won the other. Ridgeway and Maryville both have open zones where they can pull kids from just as wide an area as anyone else. TYhe you have Brentwood who has professional coaches and is in one of the most affluent places in the state. Williamson COunty has the 24 highest percapita income IN THE NATION. So in fact you could say every school that won had some kind of advantage. Thats my Point the all had some kind of advantage and i alos find it interestinh that 3 of the 5 state champions in division 1 are within 10 minutes of each other in Nashville.
  18. For Football last season... 5 private champions out of 8 possible.... 2 of the 3 public schools have open enrollment... Ridgeway and Maryville and im not gonna even discuss what Brentwood could do because i dont know for sure. Especially witht he PROFESSIONAL coaches they have. So that's 7 out of 8 or 8 outta 8 that had unfair advanatges in some shape form or fashion. Thats what i see and if the public supporters dont see they are getting ripped by there own schools then whatever.
  19. He wont play QB at MTSU more than likely youll see him at Fullback. I know he hasnt playedthat postion but with so so speed and and his size and taken into consideratrion that he runs the ball pretty well i think you put 20 lbs on him line him up at fullback hed do ok. I really enjoyed watching him play, but to play division 1 football i think you need a little more speed and better accuracy he did alot of chucking the ball up in high school to few good receivers. But all in all i think MTSU got an asset to their program. I also beleive it looks like MTSU is only getting players from small schools. They are good players from good teams but they are playing in the smallest divisions. If they want to compete with teams for Bowl Games they need to try to compete with those schools for the best players in the best divisions. How many 1A athletes you think UT has ever given scholarships i would dare to say not many. I can think of 3 here locally right off the top my head from this years class. Corder CPA Ownes Ezell and Ward Collinwood will all be on this incoming class for MTSU. All are great athletes and did well in 1A but to play division 1 ball they are gonna need to pursue better athletes.
  20. Ezell will not win with that coach because noone wants to play for him, but thats besides the point. Who wants to play Ezell in the first few rounds of any tournament? Exactlly. They get to play spoiler this year instead of being the favorite. Its funny if you are any good people love to jump on the bandwagon when your down, but i will say this we have been good at this sport for a long time and it will continue in the future if i have to go buy some players next year.
  21. Why because he speaks what he beleives. The truth of the matter is that hes right. There is a reason that so many people in urban areas send their kids to private schools. Now its different reasons for each and everyone of them, but this is just as viable as any of them. The point is well made that rural public schools are just like private urban schools in more ways then they are urban private schools. Also money plays a huge role in the equation explain this one to me.... Williamson County has the 24th highest per capita income in the NAtion and i belevie that directly corresponds tot heir sucess on the field. Taking public and private into consideration. Brentwood Academy, Brentwood, CPA, Franklin, Centennial, and BGA i would dare to say i woudl put an allstar team together from these teams that would rival anyone in the nation.
  22. Ezell Harding will have the toughest schedule especially considering what they lost from last years team. They lost 8 starters on offense and 8 on defense and then ad to that the toughest schedule in school history might make for a long year for the eagles. They added Lipscomb and Goodpasture to their schedule of FRA, DCA, CPA. Looks to me they are gearing for the split that is to come.
  23. LOL UM major school in the SEC i think not.
  24. Umm read more on this site. Some people seem to think location has alot to do with this argument or COULD. Look at the state champions in Football this last year, how many of them where from rural areas? CPA = City Lipscomb = City Brentwood = CIty Maryville = City The you have the Division 2 scools there alomst all located in urban areas. Almsot every state champion came from an urban area. Do they have advantages being in urban areas of coarse they do but also some disadvantages sounds very simialr to me to public/private. Heck over half your state champions came from South and West Nashville teams. [Edited by Chakra20 on 1-13-03 2:23P]
  25. We wont go cryin to daddy when BA comes and whips us because we will get better and beat them some to.
