Mine too Indian, and our little school in Decatur have had 2 girls do just that. I guess it made em feel good to sit on the bench at the basketball state tourney. And hopefully they feel even better sitting in the softball dugout (especially when they lost to us) in BOTH sports.
Gonna be tough next year......McMinn Central has NO seniors and Sweetwater has very few.....should be a good fight for top next year.....and don't forget Boyd.....they will just reload I imagine....
Meigs has a VERY good freshmen class coming in also. Possibly the whole starting infield next year could be freshmen. Middle School team went 28-3 last fall.
How many seniors does Bledsoe lose this year ? I know we here at Meigs have seen enough of Bledsoe this year. They have beaten us 4 times. But, things are looking brighter in Decatur, "FINALLY."
BIG win for Meigs today as they rally from a 5-1 second inning deficit to defeat McMinn Central 9-5. Might just give all those freshmen & sophomores some much needed confidence.
Two 3 team pools will be played on Friday night. Double elimination on Saturday.
Friday Schedule: Pool A - 5:00 Meigs vs. Copper Basin, 6:30 Meigs vs. Bledsoe, 8:00 Bledsoe vs. Copper Basin. Pool B - 5:00 McMinn Central vs. Tellico, 6:30 Tellico vs. Sale Creek, 8:00 Sale Creek vs. McMinn Central. All times are Eastern Time.
Central had a pretty good bunch last year and has pretty much everybody back. Pretty good returning pitcher. Meigs is awfully young with only 2 seniors and zero juniors. They do have a solid freshman and soph class. Probably still a year or two away.
The tournament will be held at the Athens, TN regional park.....The 6 teams entered are: Bledsoe, Copper Basin, Meigs, Tellico, Sale Creek, and McMinn Central.
We had ole Robo Ref a couple of times in the tourney and you are exactly right. When he did make a call (which was rarely) he had those mechanics down pat. I wouldn't say he cheated anybody, he was just BAD for both teams. Let the inside players just kill each other but the guards better not breathe or it was a touch foul. A little consistency would have been nice.
It was too late but your info was right on the money. We (Meigs Co.) played them Friday night and beat them 43-40 in OT. It was a very good and exciting game. Lipscomb scored pretty much all their points on 3 pointers and Meigs scored most of theirs on inside play. Lipscomb led by 11 early in the fourth qt. before Meigs pressed and turned the game in their favor. Very good middle school game.
Congratulations to Meigs Co. girls on a fine season and TNT tourney. It was their first ever trip over there and they made east TN proud. They won a very tough game Friday against Lipscomb in overtime 43-40 after trailing by 11 early in the fourth quarter. Played White Co. in the finals and just couldn't match up with them. White Co. owned the boards and scored several points with offensive putbacks. Again, congrats to first year Meigs coach Mincey and her undersized but big hearted Lady Tigers. Also, congrats to White Co., you could certainly tell they had been there before.
