Without the benefit of the paper........what does it say is the REAL STORY ??

It would seem that since the people in eastern McMinn County can't seem to get over a clock malfunction they would need to call the head of the local official's association and complain, because an overpaid referee is the one running it. I remember that the baby blue scored the winning TD with about a minute left. If the clock had been working properly that minute might have already ran off. YOU RECKON?

NEW top game in the region........Meigs at Central in week two..........don't think for a minute that there won't be some head knocking going on in this one.

Come out of your act. What's your real agenda? Quit tossing rumors and innuendos and tell us your beef.

Good thing you don't claim to be a coach because if you kissed one kids tail trying to get him to stay then you better be kissing 40 more tails. If the kid has no more community pride than to transfer to Central then I say GOOD BYE !!!!!

Seems like for a guy who personally "HATES" rumors you sure dont mind trying to get one started...

Being from Meigs I want to clear up a couple of things for you folks. Everybody I know from here would like for there to be a way for BOTH teams to lose when Central and Polk meet, in any sport. Thats the way rivalries go. The other thing I want to clear up is that, regardless of what you think of him as an umpire, Tad Roberts is not, and never would be, the guy that gave the two finger salute to the Polk fans. The guy that did that wore number 42 and Tad was an offensive lineman who wore number 77. I will say that if Tad had done that I would have hated to be him when I went home. It seems that when either one of yall lose a game it is, and always has been, the umpire/referees fault. Show me a good ump/referee in any sport in our district.

BB doesn't rule it is just a fact of life that HS basketball practices in June. I find it very refreshing, in this age of specialization, that our girls play both sports. They play because they enjoy them, not to get a scholarship. It would be very easy, with their recent lack of success in BB, for these girls to pack it in and concentrate solely on SB. It's good to see that they have some school pride in them, which is more than you can say for MOST schools. I can get up on a soap box, MrThinksHeNosItAll, but I won't. In this day and age of I am going to transfer because we don't win enough or I don't play enough we are awfully proud of the way our girls carry themselves.

Just to answer your question and then I will let it go. The next batter up hit a line drive to the third baseman who turned it into an inning ending double play. Would have been a bunt situation without the call and we never know what might have happened. Might have scored zero but might have scored 2 or 3. It was a well played game and we are very proud of our girls and I am sincere when I wish Hixson the best of luck. Really enjoyed playing them. The good news is that Meigs returns eight starters and looking forward to advancing a little farther next year. The bad news is that most of them play basketball too and have to pretty much take the month of June off for basketball but thats another story.

Very questionable call at 2nd base in the Meigs vs. Hixson game. Meigs led 1-0 in the sixth inning and had the leadoff batter on. Bunted and the throw to second pulled the fielder off the base. Runner was called out and after the Meigs coach asked to appeal and the other ump unheld the call. Meigs may not have scored but they would have had runners on first and second with no out and their 2, 3, and 4 hitters coming up. When you get to a region game there should be umps from another region and the umps were from the Sequatchie Valley, who is in the same district as Hixson. Hixson has a very good team and wish them the best of luck from here on out. District 6AA obviously is strong at the top but so is district 5AA.

Has Hixson played in any tournaments this year? Don't show any on their schedule. If not, how come?

As long as the Central coach will keep playing his infield in with a 2 run lead late in the game the Tigers will have a chance. Must have been wanting to win by 2 runs instead of 1.

The rumor I have heard is that Polk cancelled so their top two pitchers could go on Tuesday and Wednesday. They had pitched on Thursday and Friday in non district games. Rumor also has it that the Boyd coach drove to Benton on Monday and the field was in excellent condition. But, like I said, RUMOR.

Agree. The best thing Coach Eller does is let his assistant coaches earn their supplements. He is a great leader and the kids will love him. He knows exactly when you need a kick in the butt or a pat on the back. The '95 team DID make it to the finals and fell to Goodpasture. His overall record may not be very impressive, but if you look at his record his last 4 years at Meigs it is VERY impressive.

I think when Coach Eller decided to apply for the job it made the principal's job MUCH easier to decide. Several good and qualified applicant's but hiring Eller is a no brainer. Can't argue with his record when he previously coached at Meigs and on top of that is a heck of a good guy. Welcome back Stan, we have missed you.

McMinn had a pitcher that transferred in a couple of weeks ago. She played for Loudon on a Thursday and showed up at McMinn the following Monday. Not sure what prompted the move but she will keep them in most games she pitches.

I am from Meigs and the game with Cleveland was NOT a fill in game. Cleveland hit the ball all over the park and beat us pretty good. It was a scheduled game and was varsity players. Just a good game played by Cleveland and not so good game played by Meigs. The fill in games were against Notre Dame and Union Co. Just wanted to clear that up. Thanks.

Geez Mom take a pill and quit feeling sorry for yourself.....I don't reckon I have seen anybody on here who has said they love to see Boyd fall. This district is not as weak on the north end as some in Chattanooga would like to believe. And one thing you are right about.......we shall see.

BIG win by Polk Co. over Boyd Buchanan. Apparently, MrNoitAll may not "know it all." This district is going to be wide open this year with at least 4 teams having a shot to win it.

John Who? Where is he coaching at now?

The best thing that has happened in this district is they have dropped the "Pod" system in their schedules. This will make all teams have the same district schedule and nobody will have an advantage. In past years Boyd automatically started out at 4-0 because they were in the pod with Tyner and Brainerd. This will no longer be the case.

Did Boyd Buch not lose their pitcher? Who all do they have coming back. I would also think that Tellico will be somewhere in the top 4.

What happened on the all tourney team. Fill us in.

That's the same thing people were saying about Region 4 in football this year and we all saw what happened in the first round of those playoffs. Region 4 is ALWAYS tough.....even when they are "down."
