  1. Gleason would say different to what? What does Gleason have to do with this game? Has Gibson played Gleason? The Holmes girl looked to do mighty fine against Gibson's inside the last 2 years. Add that other rebounding machine Chester has, and I'd say their post game isn't too bad. Regardless, Chester will either win or lose and will only get better by playing one of the toughest schedules in the state. CC's first 6 games: Dyersburg, Gleason, Westview, Dyer Co., Hardin Co., Gibson Co. (where are the cupcakes...there are none!!!!) Have a nice day!
  2. And Thomas will undoubtedly get hers as well. Flawless, I don't think so? No... Chester just needs to take care of the ball and play defense, something they get better and better at each game. Thomas inconsistent??? Actually, when you get down to it, her cast is about the same as Dudley's. The teams that will beat Gibson are the ones who can handle a decent press.
  3. Yeah, Bradford was quite the powerhouse before Russell got there. And also, what you are saying is that McNairy has had no talent in the last 20+ years?
  4. Westview did have Chester Co. number last year. However Chester Co. did peak at the right time and made a run to the title. Playing good teams like Westview and Gibson Co. during the regular season prepares you for the tournament. Chester Co. won the games that mattered the most! You might need some extra bags this year in 13AA. Good luck.
  5. Nice post. However, Dr. David Blackstock is the coach that did the building and laid the groundwork winning the schools first national championship in '98. Had some tough teams made of local talent starting back in the late '80's and early 90's. The Lipscomb graduate, Coach Campbell has done very well stepping in and continuing to recruit that local talent and getting another national championship! All class acts. Congrats to Union University. Also, Freed-Hardeman has nothing to hang their heads about. Great season with a group of great girls. Just a little unlucky when you needed the ball to bounce your way. Way to go Lady Lions. Not very big fan turn-out for championship game. Hopefully it was the weather. Union used to sell-out Omen Arena.
  6. Update your info... check out www.showtimebball.com Looks like a dream team!
  7. Chester County is losing Holiday and Durbin (which are two big losses), but are returning 4 starters led by Bianca Thomas and a host of underclassmen ready to be unveiled. Add to that equation a super-frosh with major scoring power. Could be another good year at Chester County.
  8. Why has this topic become a Thomas vs. Brown issue? Brown is obviously a very talented player, and must be a friend. Both are gems and valuable assets to their respective teams. Congratulations on the fine season York had, and to Brandi Brown for being a finalist (and Latoya Bellomy from Westview). With all of Tennessee's talent, to be a finalist is in itself an honor. For Thomas, accepting the Miss Basketball Award & Tournament MVP in uniform, right after your team wins a Gold Ball is something every high school player DREAMS of! Congratulations. Please don't discount Bianca's accomplishments. Good luck to both of these young ladies. You can catch them in action this spring playing for the 16u Nike Team.
  9. No, I am not incorrect. In District 12AA there is a 12 team All-District with MVP; and 10 All-Tourney with no MVP. Ask your coach.
  10. No, I am not incorrect. In District 12AA there is a 12 team All-District with MVP; and 10 All-Tourney with no MVP. Ask your coach.
  11. Yes, positive. If they said it on the radio, they were mistaken.
  12. I'm sure Thomas isn't sweating it. Winning MISS BASKETBALL says it all. Besides, she would probably trade either for that GOLD BALL!!!!!!!
  13. Had nothing to do with coaches' stupidity. Chester had to adjust to Holiday being out of the game while in foul trouble, hence problems with turnovers; AE made a run; Chester regained composure. All of this happens in a course of a game; especially in a championship game, a team isn't going to roll over. AE was courageous, fought hard and made school history. Congrats to all state tourney teams. A trip to Murfreesboro = successful season!
  14. I heard that Camden was going to be there, so everyone else better stay at home!
  15. Late 70's, Chester County's Cassandra Howard led Chester to the runner-up vs Bolivar and the championship the next year . Could jump out of the gym. Averaged over 45 pts/game. Transitioned from 6-on-6 to 5-on 5 during her career. Is coaching in the Army I believe. Was featured in Sports Illustrated in mid '90's when she was STILL PLAYING with the Army all over the world!
  16. Haven't seen Bolivar play have you? Athletic, well coached with a 6'2 monster in the middle.
  17. Thomas -Chester Co Bellamy -Westview All 3 are deserving. It is indeed an honor to be selected as a finalist.
  18. Bianca Thomas has averaged over 20pts/game being double and sometimes triple teamed... and she is NOT over 6'0 tall. She is not a post player but can score on anybody in the post. She COULD average over 40 a game, but she has teamsmates that can score also...and she gets them the ball if they are open. She would rather pass off than take the shot. And she is a wonderful person; honor student; classy kid. Make a case for your pick, but don't discount any of these finalists because they could be on the team that knocks your team out!!!!!!!
  19. Beg to differ about Thomas. She plays point if Holiday leaves the game. Have seen her play point with Holiday in the game. She plays post if a post leaves the game. However, she and Holiday do make a good team!
  20. Being District MVP has nothing to do with it. Too many coaching ego's voting for MVP's.
  21. I don't know her stats but I think I saw them in the Jackson Sun?
  22. I would have to say Bianca Thomas for AA. She has the total game, inside and out, plus good ball handler.
  23. Bolivar wins the tie-breaker with two wins over Humboldt.
  24. Bianca Thomas- Chester County - hit her 1000th point as sophomore. She is currently over 1600 as a junior. Did not play high school her 8th grade year. Any player that hits 1000 pts in a career is an accomplishment! Congrats to all!!
  25. Yea, I would replace Gibson with Clarksburg!
