  1. No pressure, just had to get the home and away right so both teams had 5. It takes a little negotiating around the region to make sure everyone gets 5. Ask the falcons, we gave them a home game to help them and another team traded us to make sure we could get OR. So there was never any pressure, we have always wanted to play that game, and are very excited to get to play the state champion falcons, which we haven't backed away from either. The Fulton games in the early to mid 2000s were very exciting. Maybe , the most exciting games in Maverick history.
  2. Like to wish all Maverick Fans Happy Thanksgiving. The QB Club has some awesome Nike apparel for sale. Get what the coaches wear . It will make great Christmas gifts for the Maverick fan on your list. Call Coach Terry at school for more information. Don't forget to go to acmaverickfootball.com and sign up for text and email alerts. One lucky fan who signs up before Friday will win a Nike Coaches shirt. 3. 2015 Anderson County Football schedule will be released this week. Waiting on contracts and home and away non district games. They are all penciled in, and the Maverick Fans will not be disappointed. It is an SEC West schedule as one of the coaches mentioned. Go to acmaverickfootball.com and sign up for text and email alerts on the schedule, banquet, and other event dates and times.
  4. What is a conference administrator? I have never heard of such a thing. We do not use one at the high school level. The tmsaa should be in charge of a middle school game along with officials who made the calls. Is the conference admin a self appointed thing? It is laughable to me that football was too rough. I attended the game, saw one quarter of physical football. The officials called the game fairly, and it was unfortunate that the adult in charge decided to stop the game and cheat both teams out of an opportunity to play the game. His press comments just add insult to his poor decision. Let the teams play. Conference administrators don't call off the game when Fulton, alcoa ,and Maryville end up on your schedule. They let the kids play.
  5. Went tonight, HVA 3 AC 2 , great scrimmage, both teams got after each other , felt like both teams had their moments , and both have things to get better at. AC there the ball well, and ran the ball well considering Fox and Sharp were both held to ensure no injuries, and so they will both be healthy for week zero game. Offensive line , which was a question for AC, is huge. They are getting better each week. Coach Russ will have them dialed in next week. Bryson Phillips and the birthday boy Garrett Johnson ran hard and got the tough yards. Zane Smith made some great reads , and had some great throws. Defensively, Evan Green and Brandon Ford had picks, and the linebackers were solid early. They got winded, and missed some tackles, but finished the night strong. Look forward to a great week zero game as the dragons come across the bridge.
  6. Tanner Williams at Anderson County was a record breaking QB. Fun to watch. Just throwing him out there because he was a great one for the Mavericks.
  7. Fulton will be the best the best 4a or 5a team in East Tennessee. They are loaded at all positions. The guys they plug in are just as good as the guys that leave. Thank goodness scrimmages are what they are, 10 plays in a row , with no special teams play. AC has work to do, and it will get done. If you are wondering about how good Fulton is, just wait, they are gonna put as many points they want to on Powell or whoever they play next.
  8. There is no such thing as a co champion according to TSSAA. We got the plaque to prove the undisputed district championship is at Anderson County. I like how y'all have kept this thread above the line for 14 pages. Let's stay there and talk about how we think our teams will perform based on what we see the next three weeks. Pads go on, and the touch league stuff is over.
  9. Great to see Anderson County Maverick Matt Fox on there. He is deserving of the award as he led the state in rushing last year. Hard to argue his numbers. He continues to have a productive summer, and a big senior year. Congratulations to the AC program for having another player listed on this team.
  10. AC went with SD tonight, and again got some great work from a quality opponent. South Doyle is very athletic and Coach Duncan knows how to coach em up. Zane Smith continued to make the reads, get the ball to the playmakers. Defensively, Garrett Johnson is just a ball player. He is a coach on the field for the mavericks. He knows all the checks and gets other players in position to make the plays they need to. Joc Bruce is the real deal. Brody Rollins is a ball player , and SD looks to be very good this year. Love to see these two teams meet again like they did last year. Thatbwas a great game that people who were there will always remember. AC has had a few of those games, and they are fun stories to tell.
  11. They went today. Alcoa is again one of the best looking teams around. They have great coaches and an outstanding facility. Alcoas kids are coached and will expose teams that are not. They did a special teams session the first twenty minutes. AC got some great looks for their up front guys, who seem to be in question on this thread. The up front guys aren't the dozers they had last year, but they are fast and athletic for an OL. I was surprised to see how well they moved. Johnson Fox Ford all caught balls from new QB Zane Smith. It was a great session form both teams.
  12. Thanks for mentioning the Mavericks. CC will have some talented kids coming back, but like you said earlier , a lot of teams have kids coming back. AC is stack loaded at the skill positions. They are talented and deep at the skill positions. The line is huge, they didn't play as much last year because of the senior line they had, but they are big and have some talented players. Matt Fox led the state in rushing, and has added pounds and power this winter. Garrett Johnson maybe the most talented player for the Mavericks, and the kicking game is solid and return the kickers. Watched them all spring, Coach Gillum will have the Mavericks ready to defend the district title. I can t wait to watch this team and our district this year.
  13. Anyone know how to add a picture.
  14. Anderson county has 1021 students. The students at the alternate school are counted on the Achs enrollment numbers because the new school is in the process of getting a school number. Those students cannot participate in athletics at ACHS. It is against the board policy. AC athletic director went down and explained this to the TSSAA , and because it was built on the campus od AC, and because those student test scores count on AC the TSSAA decided to make AC count those kids even though they cannot participate in athletics. AC has a technical school on it's a campus as as well. They share it with Clinton high, who has their own school number so those kids are not counted that ride the bus from Clinton everyday. Hope this helps.
  15. Ding, ding, ding that's right op, but he finished the better part with ETSU. He is a Maverick, so I guess we can discuss him on this page. I know you are happy for Matt too, just like the all Maverick Fans are. You keep cheering your team on down there. We'll keep cheering those Mavericks on too. You will get your chance Aug 22.
  16. Once again, I am smarter than you. Josh ended up having a fine career at ETSU, where Pyke is going. This is an AC 14 page, get off of it if you have nothing to say regarding our team. AC is having some great winter workouts, just as they did last year. Look for the Mavs to be in the mix again for a great season. Our coaches and players are on the same page with our goals and expectations. It all starts in the weight room.
  17. You sir, are a two year old. Way past all that for you to bring it back up.
  18. How does JuJaun Stinson get left off the all state team. He is a very dynamic football player deserved to be on that team.
  19. Anderson County goes 11-2 and can't break top ten with the states' leading rusher in Matt Fox returning. If yiu didnt see junior Garrett Johnson play this year, buy a ticket, he is worth the price of admission. That list is a joke without the Mavericks included . Maybe you didn't know fox and this junior class at AC is one of the most talented groups they have had. Insert a QB that has been in waiting and they don't miss a beat. They weren't picked top ten last year either and did pretty well. So I guess it's an EARLY list not to have them included.
  20. Anderson County proud to have Offensive Guard Matt Pyke chosen to represent the East. He is fun to watch, you can YouTube his name and watch him bulldoze his way through these past two seasons. Best of luck to him and the East Tennessee team.
  21. Mav,you just keep buying tickets and cheering your team on. it will always be something, I am sure the Maryville fans can always find something to say about the Rebs , who continue to win on a consistant basis. The AC program continues to grow strong with all the efforts of the passionate fans and longtime supporters. I would hope that all the fans continue to stay positive and support this program. We have something special, and it has taken a lot of effort on a lot of people's part to make it be what it is. Their are some proud programs out there who have struggled lately and would give anything to win again. Just keep supporting this team and give them all the support you can. I love watching these kids, parents, coaches and community members rally around this program, it is fun to watch.
  22. Mav, I am with Oskie here , and I think your generalizations are off. I have been around the program for 15 years, so I wasn't here when you played but I can tell ya that each game is different and and each season is different. To say that the secondary has been the weak link year after year is just what it is, your opinion. All I have heard the last four years is that we are not physical enough, finally this year all of sudden we are physical. Those coaches didn't do anything more this past off season than in the past seasons to make them more physical , they just were. I mean you can say something different every game. Take the Powell game for example this year, we had two of our best players in perfect position to stop, intercept, or knock down the pass to Middleton. He is 6'6. He caught the ball over our two best kids. You can't coach that. Their kid made a play, and all I hear the next week was about the secondary. The coaches are asking the secondary players to play the run too. In high school football it is smart to stop the run and make a team throw because most high school teams cant execute the passing game at a high level unless you are CAK . Its a joke , the coaches have and continue to coach advanced concepts in the secondary that equal or rise above any in the area You can have your opinion, I know you will continue to support the team, but let's be positive about team and coaches. Look around we have it really good, and it has been a lot of work from a lot of people over a long period of time. Let's be nothing but positive around our kids and fans. The coaches will always get the most out of their kids. They always have and always will. If you can't support that, then cheer for another team. I am not into Internet arguments, so if you reply remember it is about the players and the success of the teams. The Mavericks have had some great success in football , I don't see that changing as we have a solid group on the plate , and a lights out group of seventh graders in the pipe line that have an opportunity to be as good as any that have come through.(provided the secondary coach teaches them how to defend the pass while tackling the run). Happy Thanksgiving.
