  1. D'burg may be the team no one wants to play in a one and done, but FloydPink is right. They have to start beating Milan, Obion, and Westview. Time's running out fast. Ric Flair said it best, "To be the man, you gotta beat the man!!"
  2. Dyersburg upset Dyer County to win the District 14 title. USJ and Trinity will meet in the region 7 finals on Tuesday the 17th
  3. The rule in HS stinks... it should be three feet like collegiate rules. As long as the defender is in a legal guarding position, the count holds, even to the basket.
  4. SportsNation, Thanks... btw, not only is this the countdown thread, it is by far the most fun as well!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Victorious????? To quote Inigo Montoya (not Tony), "I do not think that means what you think it means." To the "victor" be careful what you ask for, you might just get it!!!
  6. A big congratulations to all posters on the Dyersburg Was Impressive thread. That's how every post on all forums should be. Respect from both sides for both sides. To Mt. Juliet players, coaches, and fans.... congratulations, you won with dignity and class. To Dyersburg players, coaches, and fans you also won and lost with dignity and class. Saturday night @ Murphy Center was what high school athletics should be!!!!!
  7. Too easy MG, and a homer call at that. Sherelle Warren, Dyersburg High School.
  8. If John Glisson has his off-court demons under control, why not. He can flat out coach the game. The real question is this, who would want to come to Obion? OCHS is going to have to hire someone who is willing to take the job, they can't go hand pick who they want. This just in... Obion is no longer a plum coaching job!
  9. Doaks is a very talented player, but Peabody's guard play has been inconsistent at best all year. Average is a very good term to describe the talent around Doaks, and I agree, "The Hat" had far more talented and balanced teams than any group Coach Sisco has put on the floor. Even with Doaks, gold ball talent hasn't been in Trenton for a long time.
  10. NWHoops, great post, very well thought out. Can't argue with any rankings at all. Looks like NS and D'burg will both make sectionals, Bartlett is the only Shelby Co. team that might give the Lady Indians orLady Trojans any difficulty. Stranger things have happened, though. That's what makes tourney time great!!!!!!!
  11. What is Katrina Beechboard's status @ FHU? She was one of the leading scorers and rebounders through seven games, but hasn't played since. Any news????
  12. The only safe lead is any lead you have with 0:00 on the clock.
  13. Mike Walker 6-5 PG from McNairy Central in the late 80's. Posted triple doubles v. Penny Hardaway in AAU wins over 17 and 19 national champs. Went to Northeast CC in Mississippi, but couldn't make the grades. Could have been an all star in the NBA, no exaggeration.
  14. Any team Coach Shelton puts on the floor is going to be competitive. Jerrod can flat out coach the game!!!! Don't overlook the Eagles.
  15. Traditionally McNairy dominates when they are athletically superior. Execution has never been a strong point for the Bobcats. Not having seen either team play this year, but knowing the coaching staff @ MCHS well, Greenbrier by 14+. You don't earn a 1 seed in any region by being sloppy. Greenbrier will out-execute (is that even a word??) McNairy
  16. It is going to be a very close game between two very evenly matched teams. Lorenz will probably be the difference in this one.
  17. You can't have a legit top ten without Shelbyville and Dyersburg. Northside isn't top ten material this year, even with the phenomenal Sha Brooks.
  18. After seeing them play a few times, I have to say JCM is overrated. They are a very good team, but there is no way they are the second best team in 4A. Too many little mistakes in execution: missed blocks, sloppy ballhandling, and too many penalties. One of the best in West Tennessee, but not the state.
  19. JCM has played very well so far, but they have peaked or will peak very soon. Don't get me wrong, they may be one of the best teams in West Tennessee, they should finish no worse than second in the region, but I don't see them getting past the first round of the playoffs. They are not a top 10 team in the state.
  20. What's happening in Savannah??? New baseball coach and new basketball coach. Any info on the changes and why????
  21. I agree, Rudesill does a tremendous job year in and year out. Todd Shepherd @ Milan is very underrated and still one of the best. Well prepared teams that play very hard night after night and are 10-15 points better than they should be. Jared Shelton @ Chester County, Driver @ South Fulton, and Brown @ Dyersburg round out my list.
  22. Any news on where the seniors from district 13 AAA are headed? McLemore from Hardin County and Reeves from JCM project better at the next level than Dyersburg's or Northside's seniors.
  23. What happened to Horton? Did he resign or get asked to resign?? Rumor has it that he wasn't even the first choice for the job when he took it.
  24. Chubby, Great point about their interest or lack thereof. Teams that play a ful summer schedule, plus AAU, plus start intensive practice in August, peak a couple of months too early. it's very important to work hard and make sacriifces, but every athlete needs time away to recharge. The great coaches push the right buttons, and have their teams fresh and ready @ tourney time.
  25. Hardin County girls are a 3 seed. They split with JCM and won a coin toss. The HCHS boys are most definitely seeded 4.
