what's up mr. bigster, LOL...LOL..LOL we haven't chatted in a while. i knew that my comment would draw your attention. you are probably right. lake deserved to win, because they played hard and they played as a team. middle did not play well down the stretch. it was h**l on coach starks all year long, but especially the last three weeks of the season. the team was not playing well, because certain players were jealous of others. to be specific, the kendrick kid#34 or #32. he felt that everything should revolve around him. his father and coach starks had words several times. coach starks complained about kendrick being out of shape, lazy and playing weak. he was a team captain, but coach demoted him because he..well let's just say that he and partee have similar attitudes, but i think kendrick's attitude is worse. coach starks was glad and sad to see the season end. he felt his team could have done better if the parents would have allowed the players to play, somewhat like the OCHS situation but worse. for a minute, coach starks was looking to leave middle college. i do not think that he has totally ruled out leaving, but i think that since kendrick is leaving he will return. if he leaves, middle college will struggle. he masked a lot of middle college's weaknesses. in the last game, the players just could not handle the pressure of the big game, but that makes them stronger for next year. if the coach comes back! as for peabody, they are clicking at the right time. i hope that they do well. i wish them the best.

i do not think they will win it, but i hope that they do. it will give us a lot to talk about. lake county beat them three times and middle college beat them twice. middle college beat lake county two out of three times and when lake county beat middle college, they shot 45 free throws to middle college's 20. lake county won by 1 point (middle college hit a 3 at the buzzer to make it that margin). point is, if lake county claims to be the best if peabody wins, then middle college has a claim also. before we jump off on any discussion, let peabody do what it can.

he said that he had a prior engagement, so that is why i did not register him. i talked to him about it today. if we have coaches asking about him, then i will see if i can persuade him to attend, because we need all the exposure we can get. especially if it is this positive. what about daren currie (#13) from middle college! he won the mvp of district 16a, albeit with controversy. however, he is a very talented and smart player.

gomab2, i am the boys coach at middle college high school (memphis) and i have about six players who are interested in attending the showcase next weekend. they said that they were not able to get online to register and they feel the deadline may have passed them by. is there anything they can do to ensure that they have a spot there?

it was a hall of champions game, which does not count against either teams record. that is why it is posted that way.

westtn, it is the match-up that should have taken place in the 16a tournament. lake county won it, but they knew that they were not the best team coming out of 16a. middle college is the only team that has beaten everyone in 16a twice. lake county has to beat middle college on a neutral court. lake county played so hard when the game was in lake county and they still could not come out on top. the pressurre is on lake county to win. remember, lake county is the favorite to win the state. that ten man rotation does not work against middle college. you aint playing peabody. middle college aint scared of lake county. you better make some adjustments, because if you think that jacking up those 3's will help you win, then you can starting preparing for the next season. middle college by 12.

LOL LOL they really like coming to lake county. we are going to miss it because of the district changes. the mvp was a stunner. currie has been trememndous all year for middle college. he always keeps his mind in the game. doaks should have received the mvp,but what he did in the lake county game hurt his team. they have to play the top seed in 15a. if they can win it, i think they may run the table. i was surprised that partee did not play. some of the picks on the team were somewhat suspect. tates from halls should have made it. that was the biggest snub. we will all support each other in the region next week. we want to make it the 16a semifinals at the region 8a tournament.

you went back and found this post! you got me! i am humble. you did make me eat my words. i really hope that we play each other again, because i would like to have the last word. for now, you have the right to gloat about the victory. halls played harder and understood the importance of the game. our guys just thought that they would walk right into the finals. hopefully it is a wake-up call and we play better against peabody and whoever we have in the region. i really hope you guys play well tonight, it is good to see players work as a team. no hard feeelings, past or present.

yeah it was somewhat unbelievable. halls played hard and middle just thought they would breeze through to the champ game. the season is not over. this lose makes it more interesting in the region. we will come back from the halls loss. they won it fair and square.

what happened at the tourney?

Coach Starks has done a great job at Middle College. he should get the 16a coach of the year award. he does not have alot to work with when you compare it to other coaches. he has forced his team to buy into the team concept, even though some folks are upset that their children don't "shine" in his system. he painted a masterpiece against lake county when middle colege beat them at lake county and he has embarassed a few 2a and 3a coaching staffs in memphis as well. i hope he gets it. all hatred aside, he has done the best job of any in 16a.

HATS OFF TO TRENTON PEABODY! not much to say about this one. trenton wanted to win it more and they did. the officiating was worse than it is in memphis, but middle college would not have won anyway. trenton was lights out with their shooting. their role players really played an outstanding game. they did everything well, but they tuanted middle college as they walked off the court. i thought for a minute that we were going to see indiana/detroit II. middle college really did not make doaks work, things were rather easy for him. all teams will have their moments. so now, there are no undefeated teams in 16a. to say that peabody is the best is yet to be proven. THEY ARE STILL THE #3 SEED IN THE DISTRICT. they have to play YO Academy to get into the regionals and then play lake county in the district, which they have lost to twice this year. the regional tournament will be the clear indicator. the district will slot the teams and it will be interesting to see how that works. beat lake county and then you can say you are the best. we have the best record, so until we are out, we are still the better team. that loss will not kill us, just hurt our ego. we were so high after the lake county game, clinching a bye in the district and guaranteeing middle college a slot in the regionals. we are always portrayed as the villian in 16a, so we will work with that. peabody beating us let's us know that we can be beat if we do not play together. hopefully, we will re-focus and come back with a vengeance. i think we will.

a neutral court? come on mrbigster! middle college went to the swamp and beat lake county. they beat lake county @lake county and in memphis. a neutral court really does not come into play, if you can't defend your home. you can play zone against them and you will not win. i think the win against lake county with that crowd acting the way it was hurt the mental state of lake county. the game was close and good teams win close games. lake county had their chances but they could not make shots down the stretch. lake county is a dangerous team, but middle college can matchup against any team in the region, and control the tempo. we have what is know as a portable gameplan. we don't rely on the 3, nor do we rely on a single player. we are a team. we embody that! it will not be easy, but we get a lot of competition in memphis. i think......well, let's just play it out.

i never said halls would not be good. as a matter of fact, i thought that they would play better than they have. the tournament will not be easy for any of our teams. you support yours, i will support mine. the best team will win. if it is halls i will give them their props. if we win, give us ours. and yes it was harder to beat them the second time, but middle college did and they did it in halls. the neutral court will be interesting. it will be a tough game. ladyk00, i love your spirit. you give them a lot of support. i too, like to give my team support. we were last in the district last year. we were humiliated last year by everyone, especially halls. none of the people involved has forgotten that. it is not just athletic for us, it is mental. the first time we beat halls, it was to get over the mental block and the second time was to prove that they could win on the road in hostile territory. the third game will be interesting to say the least. when all of this is over, we can sit back and laugh about it. it may be the last time we play halls for a while. so, it will be a highly contested game. i like our chances because we have beaten you twice. that is an advantage for us. none of us takes halls lightly. we know it will be tough. but we think we will be there in the end, you think halls will be there in the end. we will find out who is correct when the tournament starts.

CLARIFY PLEASE! i did not say that middle college was unbeatable, i said that halls was not going to beat them. beat bradford, then we can have a "real trash session". we do hate, never have, never will. you are the one who does all the hating and bashing. we just read and respond!

ladyk00, HALLS WILL NOT BEAT MIDDLE COLLEGE! i know you are excited about the past two wins, but you first have to beat bradford. then, you have to beat middle college. both things won't happen. don't plan to play middle college, until you beat bradford. why do you think halls can beat middle college. you said that middle college would lose to halls "in the jungle," but they beat halls. halls played so hard, but they came up short. you said that lake county would beat us, because they beat halls by 40. that did not happened. if you were at the game when middle college played lake county, you would understand that you don't have much of a chance to beat us ever again. you had your fun when you had strayhorn and nance. you have to go through us. halls is not mentally strong. you do not like us. that is fine by us. we don't need your admiration. we do fine ourselves. our approach is us against the world. that is how middle college plays. that is why we are undefeated in the district. are you undefeated? are you the top seed? recognize and respect that. don't try to down us. we can play. we do play. so get that thought of beating middle college out of your head.

i agree with you. i think that prep schools should not be allowed to participate with traditional high schools since some of the students would be academically ineligible to compete in the high school ranks, but they compete against high school students. it is somewhat weird that a student could leave a district where he is ineligible, go to a prep school and come back and play a school in that district without penalty. to level the field, athletic organizations should not allows schools within its ranks to play charter schools. they really should play juco schools, since their time in scholastic athletics has expired. i know parents who send their children to prep schools so that their child can compete on the high school level for an extra year to get a better scholarship offer. it sounds like cheating, but they are just working the system. i like the idea of prep schools only if they meet the same standards as all the schools they play. either way, the hands of time cannot be turned backwards, but that is what prep schools do-- give a child (a more mature person) an extra year in high school. i do not like it, but will anything be done to handle it?
