  1. Someone close to the team told me he tore his labrum against Darlington and broke his wrist against Alcoa
  2. No disrespect intended, but I think Milan was a better team than Elizabethton. I think that as much of gamers as the CAK boys are, I think you could definitely see they were in cruise control. I've never seen a team be able to "turn it on and off" the way the Warriors could. They came out hard against Milan cause they knew Milan would be tough. I don't think Elizabethton worried them any...
  3. This is what I find MOST interesting about this matchup... Somewhere between the State Title game last year and this week, I have no doubt that the coaches from Milan took a look at the tape from the finals last year and went back over it and tried to figure out what they would do differently. Look, I don't think anyone blames them for what happened last season. I think CAK played about as perfect of a game as they could've possibly played on both sides of the ball, and really came out and shellshocked the Bulldogs. The Milan staff had to feel good about their chances about getting back to the big game this year after returning so many players and had to realize that they would more than likely face a CAK team again that returned so much firepower. I guess what I am most interested in seeing in the game on Friday is what Coach Morris and the Milan staff have learned in a year's time. They've had a year to prepare for this game. I think CAK will have a VERY hard time stopping Coleman, and I honestly don't know that they can. That's more power on power. Schematically, I'm interested to see what the Milan coaches have come up with in a year's time.
  4. I disagree, respectfully. I think it would be a little fun to have the midfield jawing going on during pregame tomorrow. Not as a sign of disrespecting each other, but why not amp things up a little more than they already will be? I promise I get how high the stakes already will be, but I think fans of both teams will tell you that neither group of kids are gonna back down from a fight... It'd be fun!
  5. I don't feel like that should be an issue. 55 from Alcoa is pretty good, but his best offer was MTSU. 63 accepted a full ride to UT. I say 63 is a much better player than 55, or at least thats what college scouts think.
  6. It doesn't seem necessary, I don't think its fair to call the kid classless but its definitely not a necessary play, especially considering at no point during a 56-0 beatdown would the game be close enough to need something like this to get the winning team going.
  7. Regardless of what you try to say, Spartan, the reason for not playing is simple. Webb is D2, CAK is D1. There is no doubt in my mind that a good percentage of Webb players pay their own way to the school or have earned their schollys because of their test scores, as you stated you did. But for every one like you, there is one like a John Inman from the early 2000's who was an absolute beast, who had his way to the school paid for because of his athletic prowess. Now, I would never name a current student by name, but I have seen the situations for a few of the familes that send their kids to Webb, including one of the "stars" of this year's team. I would be shocked to know that they could afford to pay their whole way to Webb without the scholarship aid. The difference between Webb and CAK, and what I would imagine has played a large part in the W/L between the schools over the years is that if a John Inman wanted to attend CAK, he would not have been able to because of the scholarship need.
  8. A little smaller, same speed, better hands, better route running, overall a more polished receiver at this point. Probably less of a "prospect" than Patrick, but a better receiver as it stands today.
  9. Or your boys could man up and hit the weights a little harder?
  10. Soooo what you're telling me is that IF Robinette was a little better, THEN Tennessee would've recruited him like they are Charlie High? Thats what I took from this post...
  11. No there have been very good QBs at CAK. Epperly was very very good. High is the first great one. Every CAK QB has played at least one season of college football. Austin Peay, Western Carolina, UT twice (one walk on and one preferred walk on), and Princeton respectively. Where have the last few Maryville QBs gone before Patton? GQ has a way of making players look like studs but very few (I can't remember any outside of C. Thompson, T. Maples, C. Stewart and now Guillermo and Robinette) have had a shot at a big time school. I've obviously watched that CAK title game and I can only remember 1 instance in which a receiver outplayed a DB for a 50/50 ball too... I think this is a circle argument so I will stop but I do find people's opinions (when they're not bashing 17 or 18 year old kids) very fun to read. Last thing I'll say is I really do not believe for a second that Robinette has more physical tools outside of his height than High. High is an accomplished runner but is a pass first QB whereas I wouldn't necessarily list Robinette in that same category and High completed 74% of 484 pass attempts, which along with his other stats, give him the 7th or 8th best passing season in high school football history. Yes, CAK has produced good QBs but there's a reason none of them have ever gotten even close to what High was able to do this year, because he's the best CAK has had, and the best the PrepXtra area has seen in a very long time.
  12. Its a joke to say either one of these guys isn't GOOD. I think with all the talk of High's system that is going around, it should be fair to note that Maryville's system is the one that is really impressive. I think they've won 8 out of 10? I might be wrong but Patton Robinette is good but Maryville wins state without him, just as they did last year when he got knocked out. CAK doesn't win state without High. That is what I'm going to base this off of. Maryville could've ridden Shawn Prevo to a state championship, just as they will next season. CAK lives and dies by whatever Charlie High does.
  13. I think Grace is going to enjoy the new turf until the teams with more talent get to enjoy it more... I think that certain conditions helped Grace win a couple games last year that they wouldn't have normally. The field conditions that hampered South Pitt and CAK last year won't be an issue on the new field. Turf field even with class of '12 seniors does not equal a perfect* season
  14. Hold on a second, you HONESTLY believe that CAK has NEVER gotten rid of a coach because a few disgruntled parents spoke against him?
  15. My problem with this is it sounds exactly like something Webb would do. As far as I know, CAK is not about being the biggest or the most dominant school at particular sports. Theres a reason that the official school seal has the words "Values Scholarship Character" under it. Its been noted that theres a reason kids go to CAK instead of Webb, the basis of that is the open Christian leadership. Im not saying that whoever they get wont be a good Christian role model. Im sure he will be. People have been citing G as their example, but I think thats truly unfair. Of course G is a great man and a great coach and I hope my children get to play for him one day. With that said, its very easy to say you want a "good christian example of a man" when hes been to the state title game every year hes ever coached there and is 5-1 in those games. Is that the expectation of the next basketball coach though? What are his expectations? "Getting over the hump"? That has been used as an excuse for dismissal of other coaches in the past, one that stands out is the old baseball coach but look where the baseball program has gone since the dismissal. When will Rusty have to look over his shoulder because his teams have yet to beat Alcoa? You said you want former students to try and remember the good times we had there instead of dwelling on individual times like these. The problem with that is OUR school is not the same school that is sitting on the hill now. That can be a good thing in some regards, for example, teachers that have been sharing classrooms and have been out in those miserable modular buildings for years now have their own classrooms, and other teachers have been able to move into the bigger classrooms that they need to teach more effectively. It can be a bad thing too though. I knew everyone in my class, and the classes above and below me while I was there. Can any student say that anymore? Theres a certain charm that the school once had that has been lost in the shuffle of the growth and development of the school. I hope it will return, like I alluded to, I have every intention of sending my children there. But I want my kids to attend the Christian Academy of Knoxville, not Mini-Webb.
  16. Im not sure the outcome of the game was as much of a surprise as was just the sheer "when it rains, it pours" feel the whole night had to it.
  17. I'm going to need some documentation on that test scores fact. And dont you think the words "very competitive" may be a stretch? Come on oldeagle, i'll give you basketball, one of the best programs in the state year in and year out but you and I both know that "very competitive in all sports except soccer" is a HUGE stretch.
  18. Maybe Cosby just isnt that good of a school...
  19. not looking good for CAK. They lost arguably their second best player. Not sure why teams such as West and Bearden, who CAK was able to compete against and actually beat have been taken off the schedule. Maybe this new coach wasnt such a good idea. The majority of the talent for the past couple years has lied within this years senior class, minus the lefty you were talking about. I believe CAK went from being a .500 team when they were sophomores to a very sub .500 team when they were juniors. Only difference was coaching and a couple players here and there.
  20. Im not real sure why you would include Tony Fox in this list of good players from Catholic. Most overrated player i have ever seen.
  21. Isnt Hampton one of the biggest schools in Carter County anyways? I really doubt that a couple of Cloudland and Unaka kids are going to make much of a difference...
  22. How far past Johnson City is Johnson Co. High School? How close is it in relation to Cloudland?
  23. How far past Johnson City is Johnson Co. High School? How close is it in relation to Cloudland?
  24. Cates at QB=CAK loss Fromke at QB=CAK win Cates looked like a deer in the headlights against Alcoa. The defense was the same for Fromke but there was a poise and a pocket prescence shown by Fromke that Cates didnt have. Let Fromke take this team to the playoffs and put Cates out wide.
  25. Thats a good point Goose. In the past 2 years, Harb has only been sacked 4 times. Last year, Harb lined up the regular 5 yards deep in the shotgun. This year, hes at 7. This is pretty incredible for a team that passes the ball as much as they do. Also, this is a completley revamped line. After losing starters Cain, DeVore and Logan from last season, this team has replaced those 3 with W. Fox, Gobbell and Dorton along with newcomer Joe Matlock taking over for Dean Thompson. People can talk about how good Richard is, and he is, but this offensive line has put up some pretty incredible numbers. Also goose, Coach Rusty Bradley has probably shown Richard every front known to man, so i dont see Harb as the type to get frustrated. I havent seen it in any games so far and i dont expect to see it this week and however many weeks they hopefully get to play.
