  1. When I think of the Pit at Lincoln County, I remember the heavenly smell of burgers cooking on the grills at each end of the stadium. It makes it easier to make that long walk from the parking lot to the press box. It's a great place to watch a football game. Warren County has made some much-needed improvements to Nunley Stadium. The home seating has been re-done with new concrete and new aluminum bleachers throughout. Hopefully, if our local politicians don't screw it up, we will have a brand new pressbox and new concession stand and restroom facilities on the visitors side next year.
  2. I remember it being difficult to get very excited in my play by play call that night. The mood was somewhat subdued throughout the stadium. But the teams played hard and the Warren County band's patriotic halftime show took on an extra special meaning. It was right to play the games. We needed something positive after such a horrible week.
  3. Warren County Football can be heard on 1230 AM WAKI McMinnville.
  4. Its official. JW Holt has been hired as head Baseball coach. The announcement was made this afternoon.
  5. Both teams left it all on the field Thursday night. WC certainly has nothing to hang their heads about. They battled to the very end and nearly tied it in stoppage time, but the RHS keeper made a great diving stop. And Brian Campbell's free kick took off like a guided missile. I don't know if anyone could have stopped it. A very well-played game by both teams. Good luck to Riverdale and Blackman the rest of the way.
  6. Cookeville at Warren County is postponed to Tuesday night at 7.
  7. Does anyone have a schedule of games for the SportsBelle Classic?
  8. Coffee Co 56 Warren Co 51. Much closer than anyone expected. WC led most of the game, but Cassie Carden hit five 3s and CC hit their FTs down the stretch to escape with the win.
  9. The Blackman-WC game was postponed because of a leaky roof at the BHS gym. The game will be played today at 3:00 at Blackman Middle School. They discovered the leak just prior to the 4th qtr of the girls game. They finished the game in the auxiliary gym.
  10. Sad news out of Warren County. The Lady Pioneers' leading scorer, Leann Pelham, tore an acl during the game at Lebanon Tuesday night. The WC girls have won 9 of their last 10 with Leann averaging around 20 per game. Some others will now have to step up and be leaders. Leann's a Junior and hopefully, with successful rehab, she will be back even stronger next year. Best wishes to a great player and quality individual.

    cat walker

Jamie "Cat" Walker had his high school number retired this morning in ceremonies at Warren County High School. Jamie pitched for WC during the late 80s. He was drafted by the Astros out of Austin Peay in 1992. He currently pitches for the Detroit Tigers. Congrats to Cat.
  12. It's early. If the Pioneers play the way we think they will, the recognition will come.
  13. Coach Tidwell is not stupid. He is the first to admit that what he did was stupid. He said so in his remarks to the community. I think some people won't be happy until we drag him out to the court square and stone him. But he's not stupid. He's a good man who made a mistake and is now paying a heavy price. The man has a wife and small children and I hate to see his career ruined over this incident.
  14. Tidwell is suspended with pay until the assault case is resolved. The preliminary hearing is set for Oct 29th, which is 3 days before the last regular season game. The young man is participating in practice and will likely play Friday night.
  15. As for the gutless comments..most of us who have ever played HS football have been called less-than-flattering names by coaches as a means of motivation. I've heard worse adjectives used in the locker room. Hopefully the players are able to move on and put this behind them. That seems to be what's happening. Certainly no one will forget what happened, but it doesn't have to drag the program down. The coach has learned a hard lesson. The administration has made its decision. Like it or not, no amount of griping on this board will change it. GO PIONEERS!!
  16. Coach Tidwell will be the first to tell you his punishment should have been more severe. But the worst punishment for him is knowing that he can't go back and undo what happened. I hope that after everyone's had time to cool off, the young man will change his mind and give the coach another chance. After all, football might be his ticket to college. He's good. No need to throw that away. Besides, I would just about guarantee that the only thing Coach Tidwell will be throwing at halftime from now on will be a tantrum. And he'll be darn careful about that.
  17. Warren County at Centennial was postponed due to lightning. It will be played Saturday evening at 7pm.
  18. ..if you see CoachT at a game and feel like you should ask for his autograph.. ..if you think CoachT should be at YOUR game taking pictures..
  19. This happened during my Senior year. The game ended and we had the customary post-game handshakes. After the handshakes, I wasn't paying particular attention to what I was doing and took a knee in what I thought was my team's postgame huddle. But when I looked up, I saw jerseys of a different color. I felt kind of foolish until I saw a teammate who had done the same thing.
  20. There's more support out there than you may think, Kingsnake. I hear you guys are working hard and morale is high. Keep up the hard work. Good luck this fall and we'll be there to lend our support.
  21. note to self: don't anger the SportsEd.
