  1. Was anyone punished for this game, Refs, players or coaches? I also was interested in this so I went back to some of my Memphis Friends who call football, and they said a whole different story. The ref you said did all this said he did not come close to saying a racial slur, as well as people who call with him on a week in week out said he is not that kind of a person. Trust me if this is true then get him out of there. How about this ,If he was doing this all night long shouldn't some of the Brighton players been offended. would you not think they would have said something also.
  2. VG, Did you personally hear the official use profanity or the racial statement. ask you self this .How many penalty yards came at the end of the game on unsportsmanlike foul. What disciplinary actions were taken by each school, were any players suspended, how about coaches. when you tell a story tell the whole story. I don't know who was right or wrong, but before you make a statement like that you better be able to say "I was in the huddle and heard him say---------" otherwise please keep it closed!

    Whats The Call?

When you put a man in for another man that is a substation. if you have 12 players on the field then someone who was substituted for DID NOT get off the field. Good officials will blow it dead before the play. Catsfan make sure you know what you are talking about before you make a statement like that. Good job DP.
  4. This is unreal. Every post I have read comes from someone who is pulling heavy for one team, and from at least 35 yards away. How fair is that? Talk about having it in for the other team. Let me ask you a question. How many patterns were run wrong last Friday night? How many QB's didn't check down to their HOT route after seeing the blitz coming? How many coaches should have stunted on 3 and 8 instead of playing a base defense. how many times did the offense false start, defense offsides and I love this one Miss a wide open receiver. I some of these parents would spend as much time teaching JR how to play football as they do bashing refs, Tennessee would have the best Collage recruits in the Universe. JMO
  5. Cortney Lavine from Germantown, who went on to kick at South Carolina kicked a 64 yard field goal Bartlett game 95. I dont know if it was reported, but I was there and saw it. The ball was kicked from the Germantown 46 yard line. NO WIND, Hit the cross bar and went through.
  6. Hey VG, I beg to differ. The T.R. Sportsplex is owned by the city. The Football field is owned by JCM. It was willed that way. JCM lets the School System take care of the stadium and I think the school system hires it out to the city. but the bottom line is JCM has the rights to The ROCK. Also the true name of the football stadium is Roth Rock everything around it is the T R Sportsplex.

    best head coach

Don Robinson (Coach Rob) Memphis Overton
  8. Memphis Overton (The Rebels) 80-83. we were never very good, but we never quit learned a lot about life on that team. Some time later someone very special took the words right out of our locker room, ("Don't give up. Don't ever give up!!)
  9. Did Memphis set these sites, or did someone else. If it was someone else how can you blame Memphis.
  10. If Memphis was in Middle Tennessee would you say they did a good job of hosting Spring Fling?
  11. Lets start with a geography lesson. Memphis is in Tennessee because it is located North of the Mississippi state line and East of the Arkansas state line. Last time I looked that would put it in the Great State of Tennessee. I get a little tired of people bashing Memphis. I remember a few years ago Memphis teams had to drive to Chattanooga 8 years in a row. I never heard one of them complain. But the first time some team from E.Tennessee has to drive west you would think some one held a gun to their head. Did the TSSAA make them ride a un-air condition bus or was that the schools decision. As for playing back to back, teams in the winners bracket get the rest of the day off. (just win baby). Memphis did a great job with Spring Fling. Baseball fields--Great, Soccer fields --Mike Rose Best in the South, Track-- Briarcrest 2nd to none, as for softball Snowden Grove was voted the best Complex in the Southeast. TSSAA could have played the games at good fields inside of Memphis. But choose to give the players the Best fields in the Southeast (just 5 miles from the City Limits.) Memphis has a history and I am proud to be from Memphis. I think if who ever wrote that would get over themselves and be thankful their team was able to make it to state. Life would look much better. GREAT job Memphis!! "Long distance information give me Memphis, Tennessee"
  12. When a Coach is confined to the dugout he may stay and coach only from the dugout. When he is ejected he MUST leave the baseball park.
  13. I hate this time of year. The high school baseball state tournament is over and so we rap up another year of Baseball. Lets take a look back and remember the Great Wins, Heartbreaking loses and Funny moments we all shared this year. Like: Remember sometime in early March when you said "they should not be made to play in this cold weather" after you just found out the concession stand ran out of coffee. or the time you had to be across town at 9:30 and your sons team was in the bottom of the 8 and you had to leave, only to find your cell phone battery was dead. Thanks to all the Players, Coaches, Umpires and Fans who make this game so GREAT. Please share some of your story's. God Bless all the seniors who walked off the Field this year for the last time. You will never forget it!!!!!

    KNOCK OUT!

I have been reading this topic for a few days now. This is unreal. I have umpired for the last 25 years (High School and Collage) I have never seen anything like what I am reading. But from my experience If I saw a player go into his dugout and knock one of his teammates out. Time would be called, help would be called for the injured player, the player who hit him would be immediately ejected. If the coach wanted to raise a fuss and tell me I have no business in his dugout, I would tell him someone needs to take control of his dugout then he or she would be gone. Think about it if a basketball player goes to his own bench and knocks out one of his teammates in front of a packed gym would the ref have a right to eject him. YES. What's the difference? Only that it happened behind a dugout wall. Which is also considered within the Field of play.
  15. Hey Reitzfan just wanted to say hi! Love all your post. You have great info. Thanks I.S.
  16. Memphis Overton School of the Performing Arts. They use to have the Best Band East of the Mississippi. Great sound, 100+ members. Halftime show 2nd to NONE. Has anyone seen them this year?
  17. How about the Memphis paper. Last time I looked they were in west Tn. The CA does a great job. What is with everyone not including Memphis in W. Tn. Middle Tn includes Nashville, E Tn includes Knoxville, What is up?
  18. Jackson sun took it up a notch. WBBJ great live coverage of SS-USJ, 101.5 Last week was good. This week GREAT, Dan & Sea Bass Tops. 1390 Great job. Get'em Dave. I'm proud to know that this year where ever you turn the dial Your getting GREAT PBP and INFO. Keep up the good work.
  19. To NW. you should be ashamed. your post was the most raciest statement I've ever read. all the schools you named are mostly or all black. Orange mound is the oldest black neighborhood in the nation. I'm from Memphis and White. If you think this kind of thing doesn't go on in all big cities your crazy. If you want to see how good your team is Get you some of Melrose, Fairly,Whitehaven, East... Melrose had a problem with Coach Thompson, When the school AD found out he fired Coach T. on the spot. I remember watching Melrose kill Milan a few years ago. And last year JCM. I talked to the coach after the game on the air, a nicer man you would ever meet. As far as Spring Fling, Lets talk about all the sites. Baseball, Auto Zone, U of M, Briarcrest, USA Stadium, CBU.. Track-Briarcrest (best in the State) Soccer-- I forget the name of the complex but it is the best in the south. Tennis- Hutchinson school. And Softball, They could have played at sites inside Memphis, But because Snowden is rated the best softball complex in the Southern States the chose to play it their so the players could play on the best fields in the south. what more can you ask. Sound like you need to do some Soul searching ( Memphis Style). And stop putting people down because of race. You were doing it and didn't even know it. God Bless Galilee keep up the good work. Go OVERTON!!!!!!
  20. The sports radio in Jackson is making headway 1390 new line up is much improved. 101.5 still the leader in sports talk and have been ever since the Cheap Seats took over. Nashville and Memphis could use a show like this. as far as PBP Dave does a good job with high school and Lambuth. Dan, SeaBass and Richard Barber breath new life into football and Basketball. The Cheap Seats were the only station to broadcast live from the Dixie World Series. Great job of community service. Keep up the good work can't wait to tune in Friday Night.
  21. Thanks Opp, I would like to know how Farragut, Milan and Goodpasture feel about them being on the field. Haven't heard much from them. Maybe it's because they were worried about playing baseball and not who was on, close or almost about to maybe be possibly in the way.
  22. So let me get this right. You would prefer the ladies play on sub par fields in Tennessee rather then the best complex in the area. 4 miles over the state line. If I remember, In Chatt. the baseball teams had to drive 1 hour to get to the field. It was in another county. IMHO the TSSAA was looking out for the ladies and put them in the best complex in the Mid-South. Just be honest your problem is not with playing in Mississippi, It's with Spring Fling in Memphis. Don't worry the fling will start to move in 2006. My only question. It will rotate between Knox. Chatt. Nashville and Memphis. Thats 2 east Tn sites, One Middle, One west TN. So teams from west Tn will have to travel across the state once again. To make it fair lets add Jackson in. That would even the whole thing out. And yes Jackson could handle it nicely. But we might have to play a game or two in Chester Co. would that be OK?
  23. There is more to the spring fling than softball, Lets look at it. Track and Field Briarcrest the best track in the state. Tennis, Had an indoor location waiting, and when it rained it came in handy. Baseball The Best AAA stadium in the country, All fields in great shape. Softball Greenbriar Voted on of the best Softball Complexes in the south. The only problem i hear is it is in Mississippi. Just 4 miles from the Tennessee Line. I just don't understand.
  24. Memphis is a great spot for the fling. I've read about bad hotels and panhandlers. Some one tell me how Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga got rid of their bad hotels and where did they put all of the Panhandlers. As I remember Baseball in Chattanooga teams had to drive 1 hour to get to fields. and that was just 4 teams per classification. Greenbriar is considered one of the nation's top baseball and softball complexes. And last who was MVP in Track and Field, Tennis or Baseball. Sounds like sour grapes. Look at the bright side, The Peabody, Auto Zone Park, Beale Street and most of all the FOOOOOOOD. Keep the fling in Memphis W.Tennessee is always shut out, and for years we drove to Chattanooga and not many said a word. Please return the favor. PS Most of you would not have known you were in Mississippi if you had not been told. Memphis has grown and so has Southaven. This is Sport not Geography
