Amen sister! Let me just say, that in all my years of going to WH football games, this one ranks up there with some of the best. I'll be honest, after they went up 28-14, I contemplated leaving. But, I saw that the MAJORITY of the crowd was staying, and I had faith in one thing: BLUE DEVIL PRIDE! This game was the BEST White House victory I have experienced since we beat Memphis Woodale in dramatic fashion in 1990. Tonight, to see those kids lay it all on the line, and not give up, when they were down 28-14 with six minutes to go against a Nashville powerhouse, it just brought sooo much emotion in the stands that reminded me of that night in 1990 against Memphis Woodale. A night when we did the impossible, and made it onto the semi-finals. A year in which we almost didn't make the playoffs. I'll be honest, after the final gun, seeing our boys run onto the field at the end....I didn't wanna leave. Everybody was hugging and high-fiving everyone around them, and Man...just what it's all about BLUE DEVIL PRIDE!!!!!!!! I love our coaches...they are the best. I love this community, and I love the tradition that is WHITE HOUSE BLUE DEVIL football!!!!!!!!!! Great job BLUE! To Pearl-Cohn.... You guys are all class, thanks for a great time, and for great sportsmanship!

Great job tonight, Blue Devils! Now THAT'S what White House football is all about!!!! Coach Porter said in the paper that we lacked emotion the last two games. Well, we had it tonight! Here's to the coaches that kept everyone's heads on straight, and here's to the Blue Devil players, for executing, and making Homecoming so sweet for the Blue Devil faithful!!! BDP, BABY!

Couldn't have said it better myself. WH played horrible in the second half.

It all depends on whether or not Justin West is back. The extent of his injury seems to be a mystery to everyone. Does anyone know? If West doesn't play, look for a repeat of the Beech game. WH's passing game has been non-existent for two years now. Four interceptions this week, along with obvious scenarios where the QB and Receiver were not on the same page provide all the proof you need. They never had a chance against Beech, especially after the halftime, which afterwards, Beech came out with a very well-planned, adjusted gameplan (and we didn't), and seeing how easily Smith County beat Macon County, and how bad Portland is turning out to be, makes me question really how far down the season can go, and if the playoffs are even a possibilty.
-
First of all...Congrats to Macon County, you guys beat us pretty handily tonight. Good luck the rest of the way. GREAT QUARTERBACK, and that O-line really protected him! He picked us apart... If anyone wants to be the first to critique the Blue Devils, let me know, because I'd like to put my two cents in. I will say this, If things arent done differently on offense, most specificly the passing game, this is gonna be a long season. Station Camp, Pearl Cohn...geez. Playoffs may not be so easy to get into this year. Last year, where our passing game failed, we had Ricky Ladd to hand off to. This year, where our passing game failed, we have Justin to hand off to. Tonight, he wasn't available, but unfortunately, we couldn't turn to our passing game......it's non-existent. I can't believe changes haven't been made...... Anyway...here's to next week!

To all those Portland fans that had those professionally made shirts, you know, the purple ones that on the back said in BIG BOLD letters, "WHITE HOUSE S.CKS".... I believe you just got it handed to you tonight. Whose house tonight? WHITE HOUSE! Let's see how the Portland Progressive handles the headline from tonight's game!!!!!
-
I bet the fans in Houston are fit to be tied. Passing on Reggie Bush is still the boneheaded move of the year....The GM thought that Domanick Davis would be sufficient. Now that he is out for the season, what will they do?

I disagree with the assessment of the UT backups. In the 3rd quarter, Fulmer didn't just plug in a backup here and there as is often done in a blowout, those Cal drives for positive yardage were all done against our ENTIRE second team. Fulmer said on his show this morning that that was our entire second line in there. That means they all got some good experience against a ranked team's first offense. However, I, too, thought he put them in a little too early. Should have scored a couple more thimes then put the 2nd team in in the 4th quarter, but I guess you don't wanna risk injury when the game is wrapped up. It was cool to get to see LaMarcus Coker get some reps. He looked great.

This one can go either way. I honestly believe we are right now, at this point in the season, on level ground. I hope our young Blue Devils can go in knowing that missed tackles, like the ones against Page and FS, could be the difference maker against an always tough Portland team. Gotta go with the Big Blue on this one, although I think it will be hard-fought. Regardless, the atmosphere will be electric both sides will be rocking!!! Get there early!

My Name Is Earl ...Bush

Interesting. I agree that we will indeed be ok if said current upheaval were successful. -
OH YEEE-UHHHH! Rocky Top was back tonight in full effect. Tonight surpassed any and all expectations I could have held for the return of Cutcliffe. The defense was especially awesome! No missed tackles hardly at all. Let's hope they can keep it up....Go Vols!!!!!

Week 2 Franklin-Simpson,KY at White House
Bigwheel11 replied to timbdp's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
I thought we looked better tonight, but we are still a little rough around the edges. There were times that we needed to make key stops and couldn't. Stopping an offense on short yardage just isn't our thing. FS went for it a few times on 4th and short, and bulldozed ahead for a first. Our tackling is indeed getting better, but we have to play a near perfect game to beat Portland at home. These missed tackles and the occasional indecisiveness on throwing plays will bite us in the butt if we don't get it corrected. -
No one watches News2. There is a reason they have been in last place for over 2 decades........

I liked the Dixie Chicks before all this went down, and still do. Being that they debuted at #1 on the Billboards album chart and have a platinum-plus album already, means somebody else does too. Besides, I'd rather hear the Dixie Chicks than "Honkytonk Bodunkadunk" anyday, anyway......

Van Hillery campaign ad
Bigwheel11 replied to beethoven's topic in Politics, National Issues, & Controversy
I really don't see Harold Ford, Jr. having a chance in this election, regardless of the fact of who wins the Republican primary, simply because he is black, and a Ford. I have been sitting in places such as the local barber shop and heard the n word when describing Harold Ford, which is ridiculous, but nevertheless I have heard it. A black guy just can't win a statewide office in Tennessee. Too many prejudices in the south. I will say this, he is nothing like his uncle, and as a Democrat does lean toward the middle, regardless of what the red-faithful may say. As far as Corker, he would have been better suited to make a run for the Governor's office, as he is a good manager of govt office. I'm curious why he would rather make a run for the Senate. Ed Bryant would be alright, however, he would be like Lamar II. He'd just be there. And...we'd never see him at any public events, unless it's a $1000 a plate dinner. Van Hillery is a joke. His late campaign ads speak for themselves, as I have read many of your responses. -
Titana agree to terms with Vince Young
Bigwheel11 replied to wingman10's topic in Tennessee Titans & NFL Football
On the subject of Young, I was watching Channel 4's coverage yesterday and they showed Randy Starks intercept a Young pass at the line of scrimmage, and when he did, Vince layed him out, immediately. Hard. Pretty impressive, I don't care who you are. Also, to Randy's credit, he DID hold onto the pass! -
Gotta go with White House to be much improved this year. Once again they will be young, but they will feed off of the late-season surge of last year's team.

Good to see that Ricky finally signed. They will be getting a hard worker that's for sure. Good also to see him teamed up with RJ Meadows, another local talent. Always good to see area student/athletes flourish......I wish him the best.

Ricky Ladd White House Mr Football 2005 3A
Bigwheel11 replied to titans89's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
LOL.....exactly NoDoubt...that's what we were discussing today at work. Let's see, Bobcats and Panthers eat, kill, maim...umm...."Indians" can be offensive for ethnic reasons...lol!! There are crazies like this that pop up in every community from time to time. She starts her letter off my saying, "Mother new to the White House area is seeking all those interested in a change of the White House School Mascot from the "Blue Devils" to reflect a more positive image not only of the community in general but to the wonderful young people of White House" She may be new to the community, but she won't be a very popular citizen for long. Since she feels so strongly about this, I'd like to see her read her proposal to the entire student body and QB club on the gym floor at our annual steak dinner!!! I wonder how well she'd be received?..... -
Pretty pathetic...she states that she is new to the community. Well, if this is how she gets involved in her new community with the rich tradition we have here, she won't be very popular. An excerpt from her letter... Dear Editor, Mother new to the White House area is seeking all those interested in a change of the White House High School Mascot from the "Blue Devils" to reflect a more positive image not only of the community in general but to the wonderful young people of White House...." I'd like to see her present this load of crap before the entire student body of WHHS on the gym floor and see what kind of reaction she gets!!!!

Ricky Ladd White House Mr Football 2005 3A
Bigwheel11 replied to titans89's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
Ricky is so deserving of this award. His work ethic and team attitude have been a cornerstone of the Blue Devil team of the last three years. Congratulations to him, and all the other finalists! -
Great season guys!!!!!! Having started the season amidst adversity and criticism, and to have turned it around the way you did, you have so much to be proud of!!! This community is so proud of you.....I am so proud of our players and coaches. Good Luck Notre Dame!!!!

Like I said, this isn't the first year of the taunting of the "Greenbrier cheering section) which for some reason sets up camp on the visitors' side)", but it WAS the most outlandish and over the top. From the racial slurs to the adults challenging our kids to fights.....whew. It was indeed an experience. Nevertheless.... White House 14 Greenbrier 7 Thats all that matters to me......
-
Even if we are done, oh well. We won when it counted and that was tonight in Greenbrier.
