  1. unapproved website top 25 for the entire state. Which is meaningless - just like any poll where a true playoff system is in place. https://www.unapproved website.com/news/f7Pgd24MmEaWD2Gt5-ZEbw/tennessee-high-school-football-rankings-lipscomb-academy-headlines-preseason-unapproved website-top-25.htm
  2. Agree 100%. They may have been one of the best to ever take the field in the state of Tennessee.
  3. On the flip side Congrats to Page on a great season. What a tenacious bunch of guys who fought to the end. You guys left it all on the field so keep your heads up!
  4. Congrats to the Powell Panthers and Powell Community on the 5A State Championship! You guys have a heck of a team and a season you will never forget. Exciting game to watch and Potts had a great game.
  5. Powell should be able to run the ball on Page in the second half but it’s not gonna matter if they can’t come up with an answer for McNamara. They have let him get on track and now they are going to have figure something out on defense. McNamara is impressive.
  6. Will the games stream over Diamond Clear Media?
  7. Wow, must feel good to get all that off your chest LOL
  8. Congrats to Powell on the win. Big Walter sure is a force in the middle of the D line and the overall speed of the Powell defense is impressive. The Eagles just couldn’t get it going until it was to late to matter. Good luck to the Panthers next week against West.
  9. Yeah, I would have thought that as well. Maybe it’s because the first game wasn’t very competitive - however, I don’t believe that will be the case this time. I think West wins it but not as easy as last time and you know it’s not always easy to beat a team twice in the same season even if you blew them out the first time.
  10. What about Will Kriesky? He has Riverdale back to playing good football but as long as Creasy is at Oakland he’s always going to be playing second fiddle in Murfreesboro. All the momentum and most of the talent is gonna keep going to Oakland (not to mention all the other schools he has to compete for kids with in the Boro). Yes, the talent pool is bigger out there but talent has never been an issue at Oak Ridge. Not 100% sure but I think Anderson Co and Clinton are really the only schools you guys have to compete for kids with - right? I don’t know Kriesky or what kind of guy he is and I don’t know what he makes at Riverdale but I know he has done a lot with them in the last couple of years in a very competitive situation. I know he is from and played at Henry County so the community feel of Oak Ridge may be a better fit for him and his family than a place like Murfreesboro. He is young, has head coaching experience, has worked with Creasy (Oakland), Perry (Mount Juliet), Webb (Franklin) and his dad was a coach at Henry Co and his brother was coaching at Centennial. I have no ideal is this is even feasible but just throwing a name out there of a coach that might possibly check the boxes and may possibly be a fit at OR. I think he would be worth a look if he were interested. Just saying.
  11. I really hate to say it but Rhea has struggled all year on the defensive side of the ball. They have had some games where they have played some solid defense but they seem to always have stretches throughout each game where they have total breakdowns. The Karns game was by far the worst but when you compete against a player like Bishop it really highlights all your weaknesses. Karns wasn’t the best team Rhea has played but Bishop certainly was the best player they have faced. All that to say this- yes Rhea has issues on the defensive side of the ball but they aren’t as bad as they looked against Karns and I expect the Eagles to regroup and play better defense this week against Powell. GO EAGLES!!
  12. Wow, this is interesting. I would think Oak Ridge would be one of the top 5 (non private) coaching jobs in East Tennessee. I have no ideal where it stacks up in pay compared to the other top jobs in the area but I would think it would pay better than the average city or county coaching gig. Great tradition, great fan/booster support, great stadium, consistent tallent pool. Don’t sell your selves short on coaching prospects, obviously there are certain guys you wouldn’t be able to pull in but if the powers that be do their job there is no way you guys shouldn’t be able to bring in a quality guy and or a proven winner at Head Coach.
  13. Yes sir, great athlete and a great person.
  14. Agree 100%. It’s hard to find good role models in professional sports today….
  15. Bounder, I have been able to see Karns in of couple of games and you are correct. QB #13 has a good arm and #6 is their change up running QB and probably their best receiver when 13 is in at QB. When #6 is at QB they really like the zone read with Bishop because of the attention he requires. Hopefully Rhea will put a spy on #6 when he is a QB or this could be problematic to defend. Also looks like when #6 plays QB they like to shift into the wildcat with Bishop getting the direct snap. I agree Karns has more than just Bishop, but he still has to be the main focus of the defense while making sure to manage these other guys and minimize their impact on the game. The Eagle Defense is playing better but will need to take another step up and play more consistent this week to shut Karns down.
  16. Wow, I would have liked to have seen about 3-5 more seconds of that video to see if there was more interaction between the 2 after what the video shows. While it’s true there are certain key words that are automatic flags, I don’t know that there was any official really close enough in that brief window of interaction that could have clearly heard anything said between the 2 - unless there is more (later) interaction than the posted video shows. Had things already been chippy leading up to that? Had there already been warnings or other flags issued? As a playoff game, the crew would not have been local and I doubt it was a “cheating ref” but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a bad or questionable call (iffy at best). It was one of those situations where it appears the call did effect the outcome of the game - but 90% of these officials don’t want to have to make a call like that. That being said…. Can’t really say what the official saw or heard on that play so you have to just give him the benefit of the doubt. High school officiating is not any easy job, none of these guys do this for a living and there is not much benefit unless you just love doing it. Mojo, I can see why you are upset but you know this isn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last time a team’s season ends on a questionable call. Your son has been a part of some really good Walker Valley teams over the last few seasons and that is definitely something to be proud of.
  17. I know…..Just kicking it back out to you…..again. I know you like to bring it up around playoff time.
  18. We played them early in the year so I couldn’t give you an honest assessment of how the defense is now but they were decent early in the year. As far as team speed I would say about average for McMinn, they had a small back who was pretty quick and shifty but the one to watch out for is the QB Miller. #9 is impressive - he is just a good ball player - he also plays defense, has good size and can hurt you with with his arm and his legs. He can extent the play until someone gets open or he can run right past you. If he gets on track early that could be bad for the Wildcats.
