  1. We had our chances to blow it open in the 2nd quarter (I still say the corner catch was a TD). If Byner hadn't fumbled we would have been up 38-6 at the half and that would have prolly broken their backs. Just absolutely LOVED the call on the roll out throw back TD. That pass was beautiful. Heck, I don't think the receiver was THAT open in the pre-game warm ups
  2. His run thus far has been nothing short of amazing Outside of Quarles, I would have to say Teddy Wilson and Benny Monroe
  3. I know, all I have heard is WB's running backs this and WB's running backs that. Just wondering if Helton was able to uncork the long ball on them tonight.

  5. The last I heard was Central 50 / WB 21 late in the 3rd quarter ---> anyone have any info on how this one got out of hand?
  6. I had to leave with 8 minutes to go in the game and my hat is off to the Alcoa team. Maryville had them 24-6 at the half and was essentially scoring when they felt like it. Alcoa obviously made some adjustments at the half because they brought it to us. Unlike some people who want to give Alcoa the "Little Man" complex, the game is right @ where I figured it would be (at least a +12 win). Did Bradon Warren ever actually drink any fluids? I mean, after nearly every play he was cramping up. BTW, we think about our school so much due to the white sign that is mounted next to the scoreboard ...... the one with all of the state championships.
  7. He looked like he felt pretty good when he sprinted down to the Maryville students section to flex during the pre-game, LOL thumb I think this year's rendition of the Blount County War is going to be a good game, but I agree with RR that depth is going to win this one.
  8. they used to say the same stuff 20 years ago when Maryville was in AA and just as in back then, only a fool would believe that Maryville could not compete week in and week out in 5A.
  9. uhhhh? Homer Vote? Maryville.
  10. Believe the year was 1985, Maryville versus Austin East at Maryville. Last play before the half, AE kicks something like a 40 yard field goal (unheard of back then). That was the final score, 3-0. We held Leroy Thompson to something like 18 yards on 11 carries and he was hurt just before the half. That was the most emotionally draining game I have ever saw.
  11. I'm on nearly everyday at least twice, but typically more. LOVE this site; wish they had something like this when I was in high school ...... ermmmmm, wish we had the internet back then too
  12. Dang it, that was my upset special on the Big Ones Sounded like a really good game.

    Hazing

We never really had any hazing at Maryville ...... we were too busy winning ball games Seriously, hazing to a point is ok as long as it does not become physical. If someone cannot handle the mental hazing that does go on, then they really need to question whether or not they want to play this game. Football is a tough game and you have to be mentally prepared just as much physically. I know that isn't the PC thing to say and will prolly make some people mad, but those are the facts of life.
  14. Alcoa was leading 42-0 at the half (game was delayed due to lightning). Last I heard on Central, the Bobcats were up something like 28-14 and walking away with it with @ 4 mins to go (that was over an hour ago). Looks like MHS rolled BIG tonight! Go Red Rebels!!
  15. took the words right out of my mouth Ron. Thompson is the real deal; granted Quarles' system is outstanding, but the system isn't checking off at the line nor throwing the ball for him.
  16. Man, really hate to hear about the accident, def will add them to our prayer list. Accidents such as this really put life into perspective, but it's fabulous to have a community like this to be a part of.
  17. Is it in Oak Ridge or at MHS? Time? (I lost the other thread).
  18. Both of my sisters and one brother-in-law went to Everett ....... they still talk about the kick off that was returned for a TD, in what? 1974? LOL.
  19. Harris, Cobb and then Fine.
  20. Did he miss games because he was injured or was it more of a 'violation of team rules' type of thing? Do you know if will be a qualifier? Sounds like he could be an excellent sleeper.
  21. don't forget the best one though, heard this quote on the radio coming to work tonight: "I didn't quit football because I was caught using drugs, I used drugs because I wanted to quit football" LOL.
  22. WaCo: is Lamon being recruited D1?
  23. '93 Cleveland Team ---> they had speed at every position and could score at will. '84 Maryville ---> Troy Hodge / Allan Fine combination was phenomenal and received zero notice (except for Fine's 2 fumbles that cost us the playoff game at Jasper Co) ---> ok, sue me, it was a homer vote. IMO, this Maryville Tandem was better than any of the newer ones because only one O-Linesman was D1 caliber '86 AE ---> Joey Smith and Leroy Thompson; once Leroy quit telegraphing where he was going, he was unstoppable. Again, the O-Line had no 'stars'.
