  1. Waters is being recruited as a running back, Fullback, and a linebacker......just depends on the school. He's friends with my son and from what I'm told doesn't care really what position just wants to play. He's being recruited by Arkansas, Louisville, Tennessee, Clemson, MTSU, UNLV, UTC, Miss St., Carson Newman and my son said some smaller schools but those are the ones that might interest you guys. My son said there' a article here http://www.louisville.Unapproved Website/default.asp?type=2 and here http://www.arkansas.Unapproved Website/content.asp?CID=1425567 that tell you more about this kid.
  2. Per his mother's facebook posts: We just were able to meet with the doctor, Praise God, the scan looks the same and the doctor feels very confident that we are out of the woods for surgery! The doctor seemed almost surprised but he didn't know the massive amounts of prayers that were being sent up! He told Will that he was most likely done with football for the season and Will is taking that very hard! Although we are just thankful for the health and healing he has already received, to a 17 year old this is hard to understand. Please pray for peace for him. He will be in ICU until Monday probably and then here in a room for several days following. It's a very serious brain injury but God has been faithful and he should make a full recovery! Randy and I feel so overwhelmed and unworthy of the outpouring of support and prayer from all of you. We are truly grateful and we love you all!!
  3. Webb will always be a tough team. Meskie is the one of the best I've seen at getting the most out of what he has. He has some very good players don't get me wrong..... Blance, Kelly etc. but he can take a average athlete and get 100 percent out of him. Webb tradition is rich and will continue to be so as formers players continue to come back and support the younger guys. I would like to see Webb go back into the other side of the division though and play Ensworth, Baylor etc.
  4. Great game to watch last night. Felt the game could have been won by Bearden but feel they just got out coached after the half when Maryville adjusted. Bearden had several opportunities as did Maryville that weren't capitalized on. Don't really think the refs were bad, there were some things on both sides that could have been called etc. but that's normal. All in all thought the refs did a pretty good job. I would love to see a rematch of this game later in the season but don't know if the out come would be any different unless the Bearden coaches make some better decisions with adjustments, time management, 3rd and 1 or 2 calls etc. As usual Quarles was a class act with a disciplined team. Good effort by both teams.
  5. Hate to hear about Josh Smith getting hurt......get well soon young man we're pulling for you.
  6. Camion played at Central, then Lenoir CIty now he's at West. Terrance played at Catholic, Hardin Valley, Lenoir CIty, now he's at West. There is no way either should be eligible without having to sit out due to the transfer rule as those schools are not more than 20 miles apart. Both have always been zoned for West. Seems like this would be a large hurdle with eligibility for either with the NCAA clearing house even if the TSSAA turns a blind eye. Funny how the rules only seem to apply to some.......
  7. Trent Waters has transfered to Bearden and sat out his Sophomore season as a result. He is 6'2" 215 lbs. and has been getting attention since his Freshman year were he started on both sides of the ball. He was a all region and all district linebacker as a freshman and was defensive player of the week in the Knoxville area after his very first high school game were he had 3 interceptions. This kid also plays receiver, quarterback, special teams, and safety. He will be a asset to the Bearden Bulldogs since they lost so many players at key positions. The 2011 season will be a rebuilding year for Bearden but look for this kid to get Bearden noticed. In regards to Josh Poplar at Central, not sure that Central is the best program for him to be in but if thats where he's zoned then that's where he's gonna have to play. He's a quick back with a good head on his shoulders for football. He's sees the entire field and will most likely have a good Sophomore season. He just needs to get in the weight room and get some size to him. (Heard he gave up AAU basketball for football, also heard alot of people questioning that move so we will have to see how that plays out for him). Aaron Blance at Webb has also got to be mentioned. He's a real quick kid that does stuff on the field you just can't teach. His size is his only set back as he definetely has the athletic ability. Webb also lost alot of key players the last two years but Meske is the best at getting the most out of what he's got. Aaron and his brother Caleb will be key to them having another winning season.
  8. I've seen both play and think both are special players and both seem to be good young men. I'm not sure how hard UT is recruiting Devrin but I would definitely think he could help Tennessee in punt returns and kick offs. I think Devrin has a slight upper hand on Dennis in his physique as well. Dennis was a little taller but not as solid as Devrin. Devrin looks to be the stronger faster runner of the two to me. But again, there's no doubt both were very good.
  9. First let me say congrats to the South Pittsburg players. You earned your way to the game last night and the win solidly. Your team is very good but you have those two players (your QB and RB) that make a huge difference for you. I wish all of your boys good luck in Cookeville and the future and look forward to watching those two at the next level. To the South Pittsburgh fans, I enjoyed you it's a football game for heavens sake and not a social event. You guys made it a great atmosphere and I didn't see anything or hear anything that was out of line just alot of proud and supportive people. Grace, I also want to send congrats to you for your season and what you did accomplish this year. Don't let anyone take away the success you had this season and tell you that you shouldn't have been there. Take some things away from this game, learn from it, build on it for next year. I hope that it left a bad taste in your mouth because it did mine. I know that you are a very young team and I look forward to watching you for the next few years to come. There's alot of talk on here about how "dirty this team is" when in reality it's a couple of bad apples and that's it. I hope that you Juniors are paying attention and take a stand against this type of play from your team mates this next year. True the coach has alot of control over this type of behavior by his reactions to it but don't think that you don't. You need to insist on respect for yourselves and for your team mates and the others you play against next year. Don't accept anything less from your team mates. Get fundamentaly sound before next year and stop killing yourselves with totally unnecessary penalties. I would be interested to know your year end total pentalty count, yds. from them etc. I bet you 'd be shocked if you heard the total number. Hold your heads up for you really did have a great season, you accomplished something no Grace team before you has and we are truly proud of you. The last thing I want to address is the personal fouls. Young man I am sorry for what you have had to endure in life, no one your age should have to deal with those types of things. However, don't let these tragic events define who you are and who you are going to be in life. You might never be able to fully be at peace with those things but you can learn to live with them without them destroying you. Everytime you let your anger get the best of you, your gonna make that wall you have put up a little taller and a little harder. Ultimately if don't address these things now and take your life back your gonna have a hard time recovering on any level and none of us want that for you. My prayer for you is to ask God to allow you to turn these things into something in your life that you can witness to others about. You are such a strong young man, and you really are a good person God could use you in a mighty way to witness to others who might have some of your same life experiences if you would let him. It's up to you to choose whether you continue to let these things be the biggest negatives in your life or you turn them around and make them something that can help you and others heal. Again, congrats to South Pitt for your win and congrats to GCA for your great season. Today is the first day of work outs for the 2010 season Rams! What are you going to do that's gonna make a difference?
  10. #3 for Grace is also just a freshman. He plays LB, Rec, QB, and special teams. He had a reception for a long TD run, made the 2 pt. conversion twice (cause one was wiped off for a motion penalty) recovered a fumble, and a on sides kick that allowed Grace to run the clock out. He did throw a interception last night but he got hit from behind as he released the ball or that probably wouldn't have been the outcome. Greenback played hard last night but Grace had everything to loose, I thought they did a good job to not loose focus and fight back. The flu isn't an excuse, per the grapevine about half of them have been sick as a dog this week and it did show but no doubt Greenback played hard and almost pulled off a huge upset last night there's nothing to take away from Greenback they played great.
  11. Knox Webb didn't show their best last week against Davidson, I think you will see a much more intense and focused team this week. QWebb will show up this week and remind everyone why they were undefeated going into last week. I'm not trying to take away anything from Davidson as they have a very good team but Webb will be ready. Webb by 3
  12. The Webb sideline being flooded had a lot to do with it. If the Davidson team was standing in about 3 inches of mud the entire game weighing down their shoes you would be complaining as well. To say that it was stupid and had nothing to do with it is nieve on your part and you must not have ever played the game. In regards to the Webb coaches being "classless" they are anything but that and it's funny you saw something no one else there did. The Webb coaches responded as they should have which was to get away from that nut and get their kids out of there before the heavy set coach who acts without any regard for others around him or their safety got someone hurt. I'm sure the Webb parents are glad he isn't one of theirs.
  13. Hmmmmmm, you guys must not have been at the same game that I was at because that heavy set coach charging the Webb staff at mid field after the game and being held back by some of the Davidson staff was really hard to miss. What he did was un-called for. I can tell you that his actions warrant disciplinary action by the school at the very, very least. He is supposed to be a leader and roll model on and off of the field for those students and that certainly isn't what was displayed. If he can't handle being held accountable for his actions then he's in the wrong line of work. Their side of the field looked nothing like the Webb side yet it was just nature??? Come on give us a break folks it's sad that's what you have to do to win these days. I think that was the first time in over 40 years I've seen a spiked ball to stop the clock get a penaly for delay of game (with around 2 and a half minutes to go in the game I might ad). Oh, and the locker room down in the flooded corner of the field that you provided at halftime for the Webb guys-real classy. Bottom line and the point of me even making a comment here is that the actions of the Davidson coach were real reckless and dangerous. At the end of an emotionally charged game to charge at opposing coaches in front of both teams was just stupid. Those kids are naturally going to defend their coaching staffs and of course the parents will defend the kids. His actions could have started a major brawl.....thank God they didn't, no one got hurt, and at least his players displayed a little class there (as well as the Webb players) when that heavy set coach from Davidson was displaying poor judgement and sportsmanship for all to see at mid field. Davidson was a good team but not the better team in my opinion (I've seen Webb play before last night although I haven't seen Davidson this year before tonight). Webb hurt themselves tonight way more effectively then Davidson did. Both teams had players that played well though. The running back for Davidson (#2 very powerful runner) and their defensive line was the difference for Davidson. The freshman running back for Webb (Blance) was very good and #33 (Waters) for Webb had 15 or more solo tackles. Good job to those guys. Good luck to both teams. Davidson Coach: Hold yourself to as high a standards as you do your players and parents.
  14. I dont' think that you can judge a whole school by a few people. Every school out there both public and private have people that are more high strung or hot tempered then others. Some coaches and schools do a better job at controlling that then others and there are tons of variables that can come into play. But to judge a school as a whole on that when the positives way out weigh the negatives is wrong.
  15. You must not have been at the game because Waters dominated it on defense, there is nothing wrong with being confident in your abilities. He came off the field near me and I'm only 5'8" and he looked down at me and there wasn't just a inch diff. so I don't know where that comment came from. Regardless, he played one heck of a game (he had tweleve solo tackles, and caused a fumble plus more). I came home and watched the game on my DVR and even the CSS commentator said Waters shoud have gotten player of the game. Bottom line WEBB played great offensively and defenesively. Whiteside, Berube (both of them), Alexander, Warner, Jones, Blance (both of em) Wormsley, Saas all played well. Webb deserved that win tonight and for the record they had alot kids sick and out this week too including coaches so it wasn't just the Irish who were out this week.
  16. I'm a fan of high school sports and a parent of two teenage boys who play the game and I read the posts because I like to catch up on kids that my boys played with when they were smaller. I can only say that I'm disappointed with the character of some of you people. High school sports are supposed to be fun and you guys take all of the excitement out of it with the personal insults that are being thrown out here on this post. This game is supposed to be one of the best games of the year and it seems to me that it always comes down to the last couple if not the last play of the game. It's fine to take shots at each other on the field, let your play speak for itself and try to have a little class off the field would ya. Webb and Catholic are both good schools that deserve better and these aren't payed athletes who can absorb this cr@p these are high school kids. Lets talk about the game.
  17. You must be referring to the CAK game where #5 didn't play, I believe he was serving a suspension from last years playoff game where he got into a fight on the field so he had to sit out the first game of this season. Regarding #3, they use him on offense as a receiver some, he has two catches for 22yd. gains each per prepxtra.com and they use him on special teams too. In addition they use him as a quarterback in certain situations but I don't know how that's working out as I only saw him run that in the Jamboree at Neyland Stadium. I will say he got about 55yds. on Carter with one carry from the quarterback position.
  18. I've also seen both teams play and I'm not an expert but if Grace can execute the wing-t well, then I will have to give Grace the leg up. Grace has a strong running back in #2, and #'s 22,5,and 3 will be of great help if the coaches have a good game plan and I'm sure they will have done their homework. They also have a sophomore fullback that seems to be coming on strong as well. Now, Gibbs defense has improved but I'm not sure it's up for the task for the duration of the game. The offense will need to try and keep the ball on the ground or #3 for Grace will likely pull it down. Ought to be a good game either way I don't think the margin will be great. Grace 28 Gibbs 21
  19. Grace Christian Academy-Trent Waters #3, his first outing against Knoxville CAK he had three interceptions, played both sides of the ball the entire game plus special teams, and even played quarter back. He won WVLT Defensive player of the week.
  20. I am sick and tired of hearing Central, A&E and Fulton whine about Pilot! Central didn't beat Pilot and just so that you all know they combined three (Central, Halls, CCYSP) of last years playoff teams to beat us and they still couldn't do it. We were missing 5 of our starters due to injury. Oh, and they showed us about everything they had in their play book including the option. We ran about 5 or 6 plays from two different formations. You guys haven't seen nothing yet!!
  21. ya right pilot runs a fine program the coaches do not brive thier players. I mean come on anyone with comon scence knows that pilot coaches don't cheat or brake the rules. I mean come on. How dumn can you get.
