  1. Ah, one of the funniest thing I have ever seen was at the UT/UGA game in 97. They trying to stage one of those camera shots with Smokey and Uga for CBS, except the problem was Smokey kept trying to tear into him and had to be taken away. It was a good omen.....686 yards later, UT won 38-13. Ah, those were the good old days.....
  2. Colts/Giants (I hope) with archie smokin a big cigar laughin' the entire time. Don't mess with the first family of southern football.
  3. Wow! And people think UT fans turn on them quick. C'mon people. McNair was out, Their "#1 receiver" (I use that loosely) was out, and their starting running back went out in the 2nd quarter. Heck, even Volek got knocked out by game's end. What exactly did you expect with these guys out? This team is young, inexperienced, and if you thought they were going to make the playoffs then you need to see Dr. Dandy. Stay with em, they'll be all right.
  4. South Side beat Lexington up pretty good in week 10 last year (Buckley took one of the hardest hits I have ever seen in high school football on a sweep). I think there were still some ripple effects a week later. Plus, Lord only knew which MC team was going to show up last year.
  5. Maybe it's just me, and I will admit the last three games I have only gotten to listen to because I have been working, but I've thought that PacMan has improved quite a bit over the last month. Personally I am hoping for a Manning vs. Manning Super Bowl so Peyton, Eli, and Archie can all tell their skeptics at once what they can do with themselves.
  6. Nobody going to get 2,000 this year?
  7. If Travis Henry isn't suspended, do they win this game??????? Their running game was 0 when BRown went down. Git another reminded of what I am glad I am not a gambler. I said UT, Vandy, and Titans would all win outright.
  8. All depends on how Liberty/Bolivar turns out. If Liberty wins (as expected), then Lexington 1, Liberty 2, SS 3 because Lexington will haev the best overall record, and then Liberty beat SS. If Bolivar pulls off the upset, then SS 1, Lexington 2, Liberty 3. I didn't realize SS had so many injuries this year.
  9. So give me your mock quad on the 3-A bracket with regions 5 and 6 through the quarters?
  10. Way to go Big Red! I am a little suprised it got that out of hand that early. Anybody care to give a brief synoposis?
  11. The players are resresenative of the team when at press conference and when traveling with the team. That is part of their job as well. That is the only time the dress code is in effect. When they are at a club with their 500 man entorage, then they are perfectly free to wear whatever their hearts desire.
  12. If you make shameless plugs for people to become plus members. If you make it a Saturday morning ritual to see how coacht alumni in other states are doing.
  13. Leave catfish alone. He's not trying to run anyone down, he's just a stat nerd. As for fewest points given up, I don't know the exact number, but the 1997 Union City team had a freakishly good defense. I don't think anyone broke double digits on them until the playoffs, and they had 7 or 8 shutouts. They have to be top 10 all time.
  14. VG.....I don't think that's a paraphrase, I'm pretty sure that's almost an exact quote. I agree, he is a great coach, but not that great of a person. I've said all along that FW has always had talent, they just needed a coach. I'm still intreagued to see if he will be there for the long run. I think they will give Lexington more of a challenge that what most realize.
  15. I have strongly considered it. When is the date? Eh, we had plenty on chance to win that Series on more than the bad call on Molina. That's the least of my concerns. I was wondering if I was the only one who had severe problems with a team who started 15-30 making the Series as a Wild Card. Glad to know I am not. The Wild Card has helped fuel some late season passion for baseball, but I also hate it because it helps the teams who get hot at the end of the year more than the teams who have persevered throughout the entire year. I mean, it stinks when you have a team like the Cards and Braves who have been good all year, and they are knocked out by a second place team who gets hot at the right time. Baseball has always prided itself on being a marathon, but now the best chance to win is to sustain for 4 months, then sprint like heck for the last 50 games. Astros, Red Sox, Marlins, etc.
  16. Yup, 25, and starting to have a clue about how life really works. You'll be here soon enough.
  17. Do you have a clue about life outside of Fairview and Martin, TN? The people who bring in the revenues aren't the one who call the shots. The owners are. Stern is a represenative of the owners. I'd be willing to bet 29 out of the 30 owners are for this, Cuban nonwithstanding. Most teams already have a stricter dress code in place for their players. I'm sure there was more to this decision than Stern waking up one morning and saying "Hey, I have an idea! Let's enforce a dress code!" I'm sure there was research, owner input, etc. As a matter of fact, I have heard enough about it to know there was. As I have tried to state many times, the NBA is a BUSINESS where the goal of the owners is to MAKE MONEY. Whether you like it or not, that is their underriding goal of the owners. And in case you haven't noticed, the NBA has dwindled in popularity among the younger to middle-aged white male where THE MAJORITY OF THE MONEY THEY CAN MAKE IS. The players are the face and represenatives of the league, and when they are travling with the team, doing a press conference, etc. there are on team time officially representing their team and the league. This is solely about the IMAGE OF THE LEAGUE, who pays these players a ridiculous salary to be fairly poor at what they do. This is the first small step of many I'm willing to say Stern is about to make to clean up the "thug" image of the NBA. Think about it, how many times have you heard someone say they won't watch the NBA because it is a bunch of thugs playing street-ball and it's not interesting to watch? It's his and the owners own fault for letting it get this far out of hand to begin with, but he's got to bring it back to respectability to increase it's popularity among the above mentioned class. They have tried to change the style of game to where it is more appealing, but this is a quick change that can be made to help the league image. I'm sorry if it hurts your feelings that it has to be like this, but facts are facts.
  18. Walker announced his retirement after the game last night. And no, as good as J-rod is at the plate, he is a VERY weak fielder. I wouldn't have minded Taguchi though.
  19. Be like me, just don't watch it. The only good thing about being out is that I now have three hours a day of my life back. I guess I am for Houston because I know Burke's wife and he and Garner are UT alums. Plus, I've like Biggio. And all the Cubs fans are jumping on the White Sox bandwagon. And the Stros are NL. And if they win maybe Clemens retires so we don't have to hear about him 24/7, which is reason enough. Heck, I guess I just came up with several reasons to be for Houston. But they are all neutralized because I hate their $*)!@#*(@#*)!@!$&(@*)$*!(@ field. Games 3 and 4 are what killed us. They were there for the taking and we just didn't do it. Oh well. At least on the bright side, hopefully last night was the last time I will ever see Jason Marquis in a Cardinals uniform.
  20. Houston beat us. Plain and simple. They played better, pitched better (How can Oswalt throw the ball so hard when he is so small?), and did all the little things you have to do to win it (including using that 150 wall in left field at Miture Maid). Edmonds made a classic mistake of watching the runner before he caught the ball. And yes, the season was a failure. We're not going to sugar coat it. Once again, the goal is St. Louis is Series titles, not division titles.
  21. LOL, wow, well aren't you special for making all 8 games. Please forgive me that with your name and nature of most of your posts I thought you were one of the high schoolers that posted on here and not a seasoned football vereran that you are. I have seen Lexington once play this year. The ground game was the best I have seen since Gerard Arnold was there. Overall, this is the best team LHS have fielded since 88. The passing game didn't look that great when I was there. I've had several other people what have also been at most of the games that the passing game was lacking earlier in the season and is improving. I'm glad it has improved. Because they are going to need it come playoff time. You can get mad at me all you want, I'm a Tiger through and through and would also have been at all 8 games if I live there. I'm just telling you based on seeing both sides of the river what is going to be needed come playoff times. And you have fun when you are at the 9th game of the season Friday night.
  22. What part of my job says I should be required to come in business casual? I can sit here and crunch numbers just the same if I was wearing what I want to wear to work. The difference is that it is the image you are projecting. Unfortunately, the NBA is a multi-billion dollar industry that most of middle and upper class white America has no interest in, and I would venture to say where the NFL and MLB view as a key demographic and Stern has realized that he has little to no interest in this area, and with that he is making little to no $$$$$. We always seem to forget that professional sports are businesses and the owners have a nice chunk of change invested in them. The first part is the style of game. The second is the image that the players give off. Stern has tried to change the style of game by at least imposing the age minimum. The second part is by at least making the players look presentable when they are on league business. I don't care how you look when you are on your own time. If you want to go throw back, bling-bling, hat on sideways, fine. But if you are on company or team time, they can call the shots. Oh yeah, and don't let us forget this was voted as ok by the players in the last CBA agreement.
  23. Unfair things in life: When you get to the office and there is an email telling you that a buddy has two tickets to game 6 tonight if you want them and you can't take them because of a deadline at work.
  24. What's the problem with it? I have a dress code at work. I would give anything if I could walk in in a pair of three year old khkais, tee shirt, a baseball cap, and tennis shoes/sandals but I can't. Key work here is that these guys are professionals. They are making millions of dollars and represent a billion dollar industry. The least they can do it look semi-professional when giving a post game interview.
