Ewing had...what...600 yard rushing tonight. I think I heard 220 or something like that. Y'all might be in trouble if he gets shut down. I dont think South can do it. but, you never know. The Vikes have had a tendency to bring out the best in their opponents this year. When we lost to Science Hill and D-B, I had friends who are regulars at both team's games tell me "Wow!! that's the best game we've played all year." It's all good. We ended up about where I figured we would. We'll be better next year. It's been awhile since we had a team this young. Kinda like the Trojans of last year.

Great season Vikings. It was fun to watch you all become team this year. You kept up the fight until the end with the Trojans. Just couldn't stop the big man. I have a feeling we'll be seeing them again next year. Congratulations to Mo West and good luck against the Rebels to the east next week and I look forward to reading the posts concerning your Semi Final game against the Rebels to the west.

Wow! my first post this year. THSVikings2004, your the man. As usuall, your the most accurate Viking poster out there. Now, my 2 cents. The Vikes didnt start to click until the North game. Everything before that is "coulda shoulda woulda". For example: except for three missed tackles by the secondary we probably beat Science Hill. We had something for South in the second half but we got too far behind in the first half. That tells me that stamina is not an issue. D-B? They simply killed us because they passed the ball and their recievers actually ran under the pass, caught it and fell on the 1 yard line. Like, a dozen times. The fact that all 3 of these games where Home Coming games for them doesn't help. Usually teams get up for Home Coming Games. I thought weak teams were scheduled for home coming. Oh, never mind. We lost all them. Any whooo. When Coach Stubbs debuted the Gun Offense, I felt like a proud Poppa. I wonder if we could have scored on Maryville with the new offense. I believe that region 1 has surpassed region 2 in conference strength. Mo West is the only team in region 2. Region 1 has THS, South, and Elizabethton. Betsy down substantially this year but you know they will be back. Boone is living a fantasy on the shoulders of Skye Hicks. Shut him down, as North did, and they lose big to South tomarrow night. The Mo West realist know that last year was no fluk. Their team has improved (obvious, since they are undefeated). The Vikes, well lets say that these two teams are lot more evenly matched than last year. The Vikings are very good at stopping the run. Not so good at stopping the pass. Since Mo West generally runs the ball that bodes well for Viking D. I dont think our Defense will beat us. Penalties by our offense will. My prediction, Mo West will need to score 28 points to win. If they can do that running the ball on our D, then get the place cleaned up because the Champs form Maryville are coming soon. THS 27 Mo West 14

I thought all the talk last year was how young South was and how good they were gonna be this year. It seems I have missed something. What happened to them? My playoff picks are THS vs. Betsy winner for the 1 seed. South 3 seed and Johnson County vs. East winner for the 4th seed. My picks are kinda influenced by what I've read tonight. I usually show up for the first game of the season to see how my Vikes are gonna be for the year. I hope we can get through the season 8-2 and win 2 playoff games.

I agree with the lack of quality football for kids. The Bristol Tenn Leisure Service football program is a joke. It appears to be mismanaged at best. There is absolutely no reason why as many as three elementary schools would have to be combined just to form one team. Redicules!! I have had a daughter in their system, as a cheerleader, off and on for the last seven or eight years. My youngest just finished up her last year. We didnt know when or who they were playing. They never had practice and if you were lucky you were informed of schedule changes. We have shown up at game time on numerous occasions to find noone there. There is very little money allcoated to them and it seems they wait until the week prior to the games starting to look for coaches. I'm sure a big portion of their problems lies with the parents. I know from personal experience, its hard to get excited about a program when everyone that you have to deal with acts like its a burden on them to help you. A football parent may have a different point of view. I'd like to hear what it is. No money = No interest. Sad but true.

I agree that Coach Stubbs has been very good for THS football. But I disagree with playing VA schools. Va High is already one Va. team too many. I know its tradition, but they are only the equivalent of 2A. I think we should be playing Mo West. And I wish there was a way we could alternate Science Hill and DB (such as one this year and the other the next). Or how about this schedule: Mo. West Elizabethton Science Hill Sullivan North Dobyns Bennet Unicoi County Sullivan South Sullivan Central Johnson County Sullivan East Tell me what you think??? Tough, Huh?

I would like to go to MTSU but I'm kinda glad I dont have to. My inlaws live in Farragut so the drive isn't an issue. I just dont know yet. I honestly know as much about Melrose as I did about Maryville prior to tonights game. I hear things like their kicking game is bad and there is a possibilty that there are some discipline issues. Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

I'm so jacked up about the beatin' we took tonight I cant go to sleep. It's a good thing next weeks game is at 3:30. That way the Melrose peeps will have time to calm down after their beating and they can get to bed at a decent hour.

Very good post, Shelly. thumb I agree 100%. Noone ever mentions special teams. I just know that that is going to be the difference in this game. Assuming its not decided by turnovers and penalties. If the Vikes come out with emotion like they did against S.East and Elizabethton (which I feel they will) they can put up a few points (say 14 or 21) while the Maryville offense is scrambling to make adjustments. Then we'll see where we stand at the beginning of the 2nd half. Keep your focus and minimize the mistakes Vikings. Oh yea, and HIT SOMEBODY!!!!! BTW I heard that the UT Vols is wanting to scrimmage the winner of this game, next week, so that they could see what all the hype is about.

I agree, Papa, with the deteriation of the tread again. It's impossible to control them all. Let the smack talkers talk guys. Dont waiste your time, or anybody else's for that matter, arguing back and forth. Respect each other and let the "outsiders" know that we are both class acts. We still have 3 days. The weather looks like it will be dry, but cool by game time. No advantage or disadvantage to either team. If the field is a muddy mess I believe it would definately be a disadvantage to the Vikings. Agree? Would they let us in the gym to see the trophy cases? I would like to see them. A little motivation if you will. thumb
