  1. "Cookeville always seems to give Oakland fits." I guess that is why Oakland has won the last 4 meetings by a combined score of 189-28. And those were against some good Cookeville teams. This year they have already lost to Upperman, Livingston Academy and Riverdale. Oakland wins this by as much as they want.
  2. Watertown has won the last 3 meetings by a combined score of 147-14. So I will take that into consideration and say Watertown by a few.... dozen points.
  3. I got what he meant by that as well. It applies more to Wilson County in general. I know plenty of people at Lebanon and Wilson Central and trust me that is the big game on their schedule.
  4. We have a region matchup here with two teams that seemingly have taken a step back from last season. But a home playoff spot and/or region championship could very well be on the line in this game. Lebanon comes into this game at 2-2 after barely escaping Lavergne with a 28-27 victory despite having a 28-7 lead in the 3rd quarter. They have a stout defense but are struggling on offense. A loss in this game would pretty much end their chance at a home playoff game and have them needing to beat Wilson Central and Rossview to get into the playoffs. They would also still have Beech and Stewarts Creek on the schedule. Hendersonville comes into this game at 2-2 after barely losing to Beech 18-17. I don't know much about Hendersonville aside from that they lost alot of starters from last season. We will find out more about them in comparison to the region in this game. Hendersonville needs this win especially with Independence, Wilson Central, Gallatin, Rossview and Mt. Juliet as the remaining games. The last two years this game has come down to the wire with both teams swapping wins. I don't know much about Hendersonville. But I don't think that Lebanon's offense can do enough to beat a good program at the moment. Hendersonville 21 Lebanon 13
  5. This is a game that will answer many questions. Wilson Central is off to a hot start at 4-0 with wins over Springfield, Overton, Rossview and Antioch. But they are facing a different challenge this week. So we will find out this week how good Wilson Central is gonna be this year. They have already hypothetically clinched a playoff spot with a win over Rossview (because they should easily beat Station Camp). Mt. Juliet hasn't gotten off to the start they would have liked after the last several years success. The bad news is that they are having problems on offense. They have only scored 38 points in the first 3 games. The good news is that they have only allowed 33 points in the first 3 games. Also its very possible that they have already played the 3 hardest games on their schedule. I think Mt. Juliet gets back on track this week and keeps their current 10-year winning streak over Wilson Central alive. Mt. Juliet 35 Wilson Central 14
  6. I think Portland is probably slightly better than Macon and Westmoreland.
  7. Lebanon imploded last week against Lavergne more so than they made it a close game. Lebanon was up 28-7 at one point and then start turning the ball over left and right. I think they had 4 turnovers in the 2nd half of that game. And guys on defense were cramping left and right because of the heat and not being able to get off the field. I think Stewarts Creek should win this game. How they played against Cane Ridge showed that the win over Mt. Juliet wasn't a fluke. Lavergne has athletes and can score but they still aren't a good football team. They lost to Lebanon and Rossview teams that most likely aren't as good as Stewarts Creek. But both of those games were close. From what I've seen Lavergne turns it on later in the game. So Stewarts Creek better hope their conditioning is good and that if they get the lead they need to keep going and not let off the gas. Stewart's Creek 42 Lavergne 21
  8. I agree about the schedule but not about the prediction. Gordonsville is 1-3 and Clay County is 4-0. I'm fairly confident that if you flipped schedules then Clay County would be 1-3 and Gordonsville would be 4-0. Gordonsville has lost to TC, Watertown and Smith County. Clay County has beat Jo Byrns and Cumberland County (both 0-4). Then they beat a pair of Kentucky teams in Clinton and Monroe County. I don't know much about either team but Clinton County also lost to Pickett County.... Clay County has only allowed 8 points but they also are only averaging about 24 points a game against that weak schedule. I think Gordonsville wins a close one. Gordy 20 Clay 13
  9. This is an interesting game coming up that could be for the top spot in the region. Things should start shaping up in the region. Currently you have Gordonsville (1-3), Jo Byrns (0-4), Clay County (4-0) and Monterey (4-0) as the normal playoff teams. Those records could be misleading due to competition. Clay County has already beaten Jo Byrns so they have that already in their pocket. A win over Gordy here would pretty much guarantee a home playoff spot. I'm showing that these teams have played 17 times since 2001. Gordy has the edge 15-2 and in 14 of those wins for Gordy they won by +28.
  10. We have what appears to be a good region game shaping up on the Creekbank. Trousdale County comes in at 2-1 on the back on a stout defense. They have beat Friendship Christian (14-0) and Gordonsville (49-0) and lost to Watertown (13-16). The defense has been solid but the offense is still trying to find its way. Westmoreland comes in at 3-1 with wins over Whites Creek (51-6), Macon County (21-11) and Jackson County (35-7) with a loss to Livingston Academy (35-2). I know this series goes further back but the site is showing that these teams have played 6 times since 2001. Trousdale County has won all 6 meetings by a combined score of 185-25. This game is essentially for the #2 seed and a home playoff game. So something extra to play for on the line. I think that TC is the better team and should win but.... They are having issues on offense. Westmoreland is an organized and tough football team if they take care of the football and can get some scores this could be interesting. Trousdale County 21 Westmoreland 7
  11. From what Ive read that happened quite a bit last night. I think the heat played a factor as well in some games last night. Players getting gassed and cramping up.
  12. I've seen several schools that have that same issue. Lavergne is a school that I've seen the last couple years that has college talent and still struggle against teams they should be beating. Like you said its numerous dumb penalties, kids walking off the field and just a miserable attitude on the sideline.
  13. Did something change? Because I'm seeing several things showing that its in Westmoreland.
  14. Mt. Juliet has only played 3 games and they are possibly the 3 hardest games on their schedule. I don't expect them to lose again this year. They lost alot outside of Reggie Grimes. You can tell right away when you watch them play. They are much smaller than they have been the last couple years. I know they lost like 9 starters on defense and several big playmakers on offense. I know they had playmakers at QB, RB and WR that are all gone. They still have a real good WR but that was all I seen when I watched them play. There is noticeable drop at QB, RB and OL from last year. If you take Grimes out of the picture they were still a much better team last year. I seen them roll some teams last year with him out of the game. They have probably played the 3 toughest games already on the schedule. We will find out if Wilson Central has anything this week but I expect Mt. Juliet to win that one. Then of course there is Hendersonville at the end of the year but they seem to be down as well. Blackman had a rough game last night but I still think they likely beat anybody in this region. They were able to hang with Alcoa and Ravenwood. I don't think anybody in this region would be able to do the same. I think Riverdale is on par with the teams in this region. After that is a big drop off. Whoever wins the region will get an easy matchup in round one. Whoever gets the 2 seed will have a good matchup in Riverdale. Seeds 3 and 4 get bounced. Then Blackman and Oakland win in the next round and play in the 3rd round.
  15. Lets be honest nobody in this region is getting past by round 3 at best. And most likely nobody is getting past round 2 regardless of what happened last night.
  16. Oh come on.... You will eclipse 100 points against Station Camp and Spring Hill alone.
  17. This would be good bulletin board material for the 8 games next week that feature winless teams against each other.
  18. Friendship Christian has won 3 state championships in the last 10 years.
  19. I don't see anybody left on their schedule that I wouldn't pick to win by at least 2+ touchdowns.
  20. Lebanon almost done the same thing against Lavergne tonight. They were up 28-7 and ended up winning 28-27 with Lavergne missing an extra point to tie the game late in the 4th. But Lebanon had a stretch where they had drives end on a fumble, interception, interception and bad snap/punt.
  21. Springfield 31 Station Camp 10 Final Station Camp is staring an 0-10 season right in the face with Rossview, Stewarts Creek, Lebanon, Beech, Mt. Juliet and Wilson Central all remaining on the schedule. I don't see any of those games even being close.
  22. Cane Ridge 33 Stewarts Creek 23 Final Should be no shame here from Stewarts Creek they should still have a really good season.
