Here is my take on the whole Maryville needs to play D-II to say they are a real champion crap! When we were a 4A team a lot of people said you are good but you couldn't handle big boy football! They said we couldn't handle west Knoxville teams! So when they expanded football to 6 classes we were with the big boys & what happened then? Well let's see, we have won every game against every Knoxville team (last loss to a Knox team 2000 season), we won every region game (last time we lost region game 2000 season), we have played in every 6A state championship game (4 wins & 2 losses, which just happens to be our only 2 losses to any 6A teams), & yes we are in it again this year! At Maryville they are not always the biggest, fastest, or the most talented team but they believe they are going to win every time they suit up to play, against whoever is suited up across the field. With all of that being said I know the Red Rebels will face another very talented team this Saturday night against Ravenwood!

Staying at home all the way through the semi finals is nice, but there's something fun about traveling to wherever the Friday night after Thanksgiving & coming home with the win!

I went to watch them play Carter Friday night, Maryville wins easily! I also think GQ won't run it up on his Alma mater but the 2's & 3's should score often.

Ensworth had the chance to play Maryville in the Maryville/Alcoa kickoff classic this year but they opted out because they would have to travel to Blount county two years in a row. They were slated to play Maryville this year and then play Alcoa next season. Would have loved to see them play us!

Tonight was the first time I had ever been to Rhea County and I have to say you have a nice stadium, plenty of seats for both sets of fans to sit. But i don't understand why there were eagle fans sitting on the vistors side? As for the game, I dont know what was going on with us tonight, on offence. We made way to many mistakes tonight but the outcome was a win and I don't think either team had any injuries, so thats all that matters. Now on to Greenville. Go Red Rebels!

Ok here is the deal, I am not some young kid, I am a adult and I was stating my opinion. I do believe that Maryvile and Alcoa could beat MBA. The reasons I believe this is because I have seen all three of these teams play and IMO Maryville would win because they are so well coached, they play with so much heart, they never panic, they are so disciplined, and they have that refuse to lose attitude. As for Alcoa, they are well coached also, but they are just loaded with athletes. This was not a slam to you personally 'ROLLREDROLL', I wasn't even responding to one of your post. Well I think Maryville will win 4A. This year Maryville is very "Blue Collar", but they are getting more dominate every week. They will have some challenges in the playoffs, but they will get it done. 5A, I hope it is Farragut, but I don't know for sure. Last year I was for sure that they would win it after they beat WB, but it didn't work out for them. The only one that is a shoe in is in 2A, Alcoa!! They would win 3A if they were in it, and would more than likely make to the third round and have a shot at moving on in 4A. Also I would like to see Greenback win 1A. I watched this group of seniors play when they 8 and 9 years old and they were a great team then as well as now.

And another thing I don't know what private school or schools you are boasting about, but I have seen MBA play twice this year and I know two East Tennessee public schools that would beat them with ease, Maryville and Alcoa!

You know, this use to be fun to get on here every week and talk about the upcoming game, but now all people want to do is bash Maryville and they are not even the team we are playing this week or even this year. The fact is, as I have said before, Maryville plays their region games and Alcoa, WB, and Heritage. When we get reclassified next season some things will change and we should be able to play some stronger teams. Maryville may not dominate, but they will be successful and I want bet against them.

This is one of the best post I have ever read. Very classy, someone who tells the truth instead of making up lies or whines about us playing in the class we were put in. Congrats on the win tonight.

Yes next year is the year that all of the haters get there wish, we will be in the highest classification. But this still won't shut the haters up! For we will still win, no matter what class we are put in. What will the haters have to say then? Let me guess, "Well if they would only play DII teams and teams from Texas, Florida, Ohio, and California they wouldn't be undefeated". This is what you will be saying on the outside, but to yourself you will be thinking, "Why couldn't they have stayed in 4A". The fact is that we are a 4A team that plays 7 region games and 2 games against our county 5A teams and a game that we will never even think about not playing, Alcoa (Which is better then 95% of the teams in the state year in and year out). I don't know how all of this reclassification will exactly work, but i am guessing that we will be able to schedule some more prominent opponents. I for one would love to see us pick up a series with MBA and then play some of the other Nike teams. First of all, way to go Maryville!!! You played a great game against a good team with a stud at QB. I was impressed all night by Phillips ability to run the ball. But nothing compares to watching the Maryville offense work their magic. Congrats to both teams on a well played, almost penalty free game. This show that both teams played with tremendous class. To Sullivan South hold your heads up, you avenged a early loss and fought hard against one of the best teams around. To Maryville see you next week in the Boro, and bring home another gold ball. I am looking forward to this match-up friday night. I have never seen SS play, but as i follow high school football pretty close this is the match-up i expected. This should be a good game between two fine teams with two of the best QBs in the state. If Maryville plays like they did last night this game will get ugly quick, no team in this state could hang with them last night IMO. This should be a great game, i just don't see Maryville losing at home. Maryville 31 Red Bank 28 Get there early the haters will be out in force.

In 2009 when we move up to 5A, we will play Oak Ridge,Ooltewah,Farragut, & WB in region play. Then we will most likely play teams like Dobyns Bennett, and Riverdale on our way to the 5A state championship. For our non-region games we should schedule Brentwood Academy, MBA, And of course one of the toughest teams year in and year out Alcoa. If this was to happen nobody could say we don't play a tough schedule.

What a game! WB has no reason to hang their heads, they have a great team. This is the best football team WB has ever put on a football field by far. Their defence is solid, best tackling i've seen in a long time. Their offence is also solid, but i would run Garner more, he is a freak. As for Maryville, they played some of the best defence they have played all season. The offence looked good at times, but didn't seem to be clicking like they have been this year, but lets give credit the WB defence for some of this problem. All in all a great game to watch. Maryville would beat Hoover. Hoover is good but so is Maryville. This would be a great game but in the end, Maryville by 10. I would like to see this and other match-ups happen for Maryville. I'm not saying they would beat every team in the nation, but it would be good for the program to get so much deserved national respect. I have watched alot of teams in nation play and i think Maryville could beat some and get beat by others.

Best post i've seen yet, i totally agree! I lived outside the city limits and was affraid my kids might not get in on tuition. So i moved to Maryville. And another thing i have a boy who plays sports and a girl that doesn't. But it wouldn't matter if my boy didn't play sports, thats still where i want them to go,for many reasons.
