  1. This post is not meant to be negative toward Coach McCoin or Coach Melton, but it sounds like someone really touched a nerve with Fat E. Fat E, you made some interesting points and you seem to have ensight/information on this subject. 1. How does Melton get so lucky and why do all the athletes want to go to Allons? 2. How many athletes have transferred to Allons since the Melton has been there? 3. I saw Matt Reeder play when he was in elementary school and our kids couldn't do much with him. Where is Matt today? Have you been negatively affected by Melton's program at Alons? You have some pretty negative comments about both.
  2. Jimbo, I talked to someone who played in '84 and LA played in the region that year.
  3. I agree with ya both. Go Hog-eye!
  4. Yep. According to the radio, that 43 game losing streak to LA dates back to 1984! Did LA have 6 straight turnovers in the 4th quarter? Where was that sophomore bunch that Jimbo44 keeps talking about?
  5. This proves that anything is possible.
  6. Hey Bobcatfan300....glad you brought up that 106-60 Pickett County win over LA. I've seen what Pickett and LA both have coming up for the next several years. I hope that "pounding" you referred to is enough to help Pickett County fans get through what's coming. I think most LA fans highly respect Pickett County's tradition for being good. In that 46 point win that you brought up, didn't one player have 50 points or so? Anyway, what goes around comes around, and this is coming sooner than PC fans may want.
  7. I don't think Mr. Basketball awards are given for acting. I think Wright has the ability to be a really good player, but he really needs to leave the acting at home. I know others agree and I don't mean to bash him. I would love to see him play without the junk. I'm sure he is a great kid, but I think if he'd forget trying to be noticed, he'd get noticed a lot more...for the right reasons.
  8. It's a good thing LA is as deep as they are, because Brandon Matthews is out for about 8 weeks after breaking a bone in his foot and having surgery on it. I think LA should win the Jaycees Tourney even without Matthews..if they shoot well. If they shoot well, Clay and Pickett should not beat them. On the other hand, Matthews is one of LA's best three point shooters. They will need him. Maybe he will be back for post-season.
  9. Blacksheep, your view may be unbiased, but it really doesn't make much sense. Although you may be right in saying that 7AA will not win the gold ball this year (I mean they can't win it forever), how can you say that Westview is "unarguable" the best team in the state without mentioning the FACT that 7AA's Upperman beat them today in the finals. At least Upperman has earned the right to argue your point. One more thing...who are your coaches...the whole "mule" thing.
  10. Reserved seats do not apply at Livingston Academy during the Jaycees Tournament. Regular season games only.
  11. Last year's group was the last of Coach Gore's Dynasty - and they only played for him through 7th grade. Hey, we saw this coming. These girls work hard but they just weren't as prepared for the high school level as freshmen as girls of yesteryear were. Good luck to this year's team though. The year is still relatively young and lots can happen before the year is over.
  12. Was it an appropriate call or did the ref overreact? What a time for a player to lose his cool.
  13. I don't think things are going to get much better for PC girls until discipline becomes their focus - both from the coach and self-discipline on the players' behalf. This group of girls should really be better than this.
  14. Hey that's cool. I think we're both in agreement. Believe me when I say that Livingston Academy fans have never taken Gibson County lightly and always respect the success of their program and their coach. Gibson County is no surprise to me in that they're loaded. However, I don't think that LA is as weak as some middle Tennessee people expect them to be, especially some other 7AA fans. It would really be interesting if it was possible to switch some of yesterday's matchups and see how everyone fares. My prediction would be like this...GC and Westview at the top with LA, JC, and Smith County somewhere in second.
  15. Ease up gcfan2...I'm in agreement that GC has the better team and that GC's press hurt LA more than LA's hurt GC. That wasn't even my point. I never said anything about starters being young...I just referred to players that LA put on the floor. LA's Coach Smith played about 11 players in the first 3 quarters and a lot of them are young with very little experience at this level. Now with that said, it sounds like Dudley was unstoppable.
  16. Congratulations to 13AA. It seems like you all now have the upper hand. I was able to listen to the GC/LA game. I was actually surprised that LA kept it as close as they did...even leading about half of the first half and then cutting it to three at the end of the third quarter. I knew Dudley was the real deal when I saw her play in the state tournament last year. She had half of their points tonight. My thoughts are that LA did pretty well, considering how many new and young players they put on the floor, and their press at times hurt GC. Hope it went well and look forward to 13AA coming east next year.
  17. Like yuckamuck said, give details. Why do you say that? Everyone knows that LA lost a lot but Clay County was in the state tournament last year and returned a couple of leading scorers, right? Was Clay County that bad? If LA is as bad as you say, then Clay County must be worse than I expected them to be.
  18. When I posted that, the scoreboard read 0-0, but thanks.
  19. Who won the Smith County/Portland game?
  20. If they've been held back then maybe they are now the same age of the sixth graders...maybe they were too young...everyone knows everything bout everything..right devil?
  21. Looks like they passed the test then.
