  1. Basic scouting report for Manassas??? I know Albright and Bell are the main engines on offense, but other than those two, what else do they have?? Also the defense they run.
  2. Is Covington gonna be able to play tomorrow or are they gonna have to forfeit due to impossible travel conditions???? Was told 54 (main road to Brownsville) was still pretty bad.
  3. I agree 100% with this. Time to Tenneseee to do away with the basketball tourney format. I like the Alabama basketball format, or even Kentucky. Good teams are too protected now. Lose and still have a shot at state. No it all needs to be single elimination.
  4. South Side beats Covington by 20, Manassas beats Lexington by 15.
  5. Union City will have to rebound well to stay close and Stockdale and Deberry have to play huge. Cant have more than 15 turnovers. Mitchell's experience will be a little too much for UC to overcome. Mitchell by 15.
  6. Dyer County wont be afraid of Hamilton after playing Chicago Simeon. Key to DC will be to push tempo and force Hamilton turnovers. Hamilton has a huge height advantage with the Lawsons. Expect them to use it often against Dyer County, who's tallest guy is maybe 6"4. Hamilton by 13.
  7. He had about 18, but he shot 5-20, Westwood sent 2 guys at him all night long. He was playing the 5, and Westwood went right at him.
  8. Westwood dominated the boards, and their starting 5, #1, #2, #5, #11 and #24 are very impressive. The length gave Haywood problems all night long, and Haywood went ice cold. #5, a lefty has a throwback shot, ala Jamal Wilkes, but he couldnt miss. #2 is a rebounding machine, Haywood couldnt box him out at all. They should take care of Covington, and be in substate.
  9. So this begs the bigger question???? Is Memphis A and AA not that good?? or is it the coaching?? Liberty beat Raleigh-Egypt,North Side beats Manassas, Covington beat Trevezant, JCS hammered BTW, Riverside beat Oakhaven,Scotts Hill beat Mitchell, and Middleton pummeled MAHS. I thought those were the powerhouses in Memphis??????
  10. I saw Westwood in the HUB classic at the Oman Arena in December. They really didnt impress me at all. North Side's guards could get their shot against the Longhorns defense, and they actually hung around until the fourth quarter, until turnovers led to easy transition baskets for Westwood. Haywood should win this game going away, but as they say, "Thats why they play the games." Offensively look out for #2 for Westwood. Their leading scorer, not a shooter, but more of a driver. They can crash the boards also.
  11. Woah slow down!!! To say Bri Fields is gonna be better than Heather Butler is too high of expections. Yes, Bri is good for a sophmore, and she is gonna continue to get better, but she still is raw and still disappears for long stretches. She has D1 potential, yes but its up to her and how hard she is willing to work to be the best. And Gibson County could seriously reel off a few state championships with all the underclassmen coming back. After this year, its gonna be them and Bradford at the top of 14A as UC will have a bit of a down period.
  12. That is odd. Maybe because UC, GC, and Middleton really dont have a standout player. They all have 3 really talented players. Middleton and Dangerfield are finalists because Riverdale and Blackmon are ranked in the nation. Plus Middleton was a McDonalds All-American, so there's that.
  13. Last good team they had was Ken and Jermel Bingham, Logan Chappell, and the Tyus kid. After that, they really have bottomed out.
  14. Liberty is gonna make it to substate????? They will be lucky if they make it past the first game of regionals. Liberty is a average team. They will end up traveling to Memphis, where history has not been kind to them
  15. South Side or Haywood ain't beatin CPA. Lets be honest here people. Only team in this state that could beat them is White Station, only because they are a little bigger in the post. South Side and Haywood have no answer for Allsmiller or Blackwell. Neither team is good in the halfcourt, which you have to play to slow CPA down. And both turn it over a lot, which CPA will score a lot of transition points. Only way either could keep it close is to shoot lights out,no less than 13 turnovers, not allow second and third shots, and outrebound CPA.
  16. Watch out for Oakhaven, i have seen them play twice this year and kid me not. They are legit. Unfournately, they are in 16A, which is the weakest girls district in the state. You UC people talk about struggling to defend Jaycee Coe??? Derica Wiggins is BETTER than her. Averaging well over 35 points per game, and plays with 2 other really good players who are getting D1 attention as well. Teams have tried every junk defense to slow her down, but it hasnt worked. So take them seriously UC and Middleton fans
  17. Next classification, Adamsville will be bumped up to AA, and placed in District 14-AA with McNairy, SS, Bolivar, Lexington, and Chester Co. Fayette-Ware will most likely move to 15-AA.
  18. I mean McNairy's girls have a solid team every year and this year they may just make it to the state tournament. Plus Lott is one heck of a coach. So McNairy boys should be better than they are.
  19. District 14-AA tournament at Chester Co. Tuesday 2/11 Quarterfinals 6:00: #4 Jackson South Side vs. #5 Bolivar Central 7:15: #3 Chester Co. vs #6 Fayette-Ware Thursday 2/13 Semifinals: #1 McNairy Central vs. South Side/Bolivar winner #2 Lexington vs. Chester Co./Fayette-Ware winner Saturday 2/15 Girls Consolation: 6:00 Girls Championship: 7:15
  20. Not counting them out, but i dont like their odds of winning at Sheffield, Douglass, or Manassas. Being a realist, i only see Haywood advancing out of Region 8, with one of those teams.
  21. I think A sectionals are gonna be: Middleton vs. Gibson County, Memphis Oakhaven vs. UC
  22. Chipper, Liberty is in 15AA now. They wont make it past the first round of regionals if they dont get a home game. Thursday's game against Ripley is HUGE for them. And yes, Westview and Obion have to get favorable matchups in regionals
  23. Its bascially CPA, Haywood, and Jackson Southside. Two of those will be in the AA championship game. No offense to Cheatham County or Waverly. They dont play the kind of teams those three do on a nightly basis. In fact if Waverly was in 15-AA, they wouldnt finish in the top 3. Just saying.
