I think Madison and Humboldt are the teams to beat from the West. Athletically they are gonna be tough to match up against, and they both shoot it well enough that you have to step out and guard them.

I had a conversation about Peabody yesterday with some area coaches. And we all said the same things (play hard, tough as nails, very well coached) BUT when it comes down to it, when you clamp down the lefty #00, who else is gonna step up and give consistent offense??? And are they gonna rebound well enough. Things to look for going forward. I think GC wins by 17 tonight.

I've been a believer in South Gibson these last 20 months or so, I said once they learned how to win big games, they would take off. Safe to say, they have done just that. Now, that being said they do have a lot of weird pieces and her job is to get them playing as one when the region tourney rolls around, if they do that they are one team (aside from South Side and Westview) that no one wants to play. Also praying for Harrison and Westview, you want her to heal quickly, BUT under any circumstances don't rush her back before she's ready. As well, prayers to the son of the coach. Hope he gets to a speedy recovery as well.

I saw Peabody and Gibson County multiple times before the limited attendance. Honestly, I don't think this game will be close. Peabody is a solid team, but they don't rebound it well nor score efficiently enough in the half court. I got: Gibson County 70, Peabody 48.

Union City and Greenfield have looked like big disappointments so far. UC is 4-7, and Greenfield is 6-5. Is it COVID-related or is it personnel issues????

Went to see Gibson County Saturday and they are a very talented basketball team. Obviously Madison Hart is the engine that starts the car, but Micah Hart exceeded the expectations I had for her, she's gonna be the next great Gibson County guard. I think once the younger players get more experience, the shots start falling (Madison is gonna see double teams all year long) and continue to value taking care of the basketball, only a major snafu will keep them from Murfreesboro.

South Side takes care of Dyersburg 51-34. Lady Hawks were clearly the better team from the start, shooting the basketball well and forcing lots of Lady Trojan turnovers. Dyersburg's personnel is very limited beyond #3, so unless #24 gives them more in the scoring department, gonna be a rough year if they aren't getting points off turnovers

Bolivar was clearly the biggest winner and loser from the new classifications. Winner because they will go back to being a powerhouse and overwhelming teams with speed, athleticism and shooting. The loser because they are really gonna lose that revenue with Haywood, Fayette-Ware, Covington etc.

I think Westview is probably making the smart choice. A Westview, Gibson County, and Union City district is top 2 in the state in 2A.

I agree Dyersburg probably should jump to AAA. And I think they will. AA is gonna be murderers row. Dyer County is the one that's gonna have a tough call to make, stay in 3A, or jump to a 4A district with Arlington, Bartlett, Cordova, Collierville etc.

Hardin County plays Arlington for region championship. I'm a believer in the Lady Tigers because of two reasons: Skyler Gill and Reese Harville. One of the best one-two punches in West TN that you don't hear about, but that will change this season.

Covington/Melrose region championship, BUT do not sleep on Fayette-Ware, made a huge jump last year, and the talent is in place. Just gotta see how they deal with high expectations now.

Think we see a South Side/Dyersburg region championship. Milan should be looking to take a top 4 spot in 13-AA

West Carroll/Loretto region championship.

This one is gonna depend if the TSSAA hits Arlington, if they do. Cordova against Bartlett/if not Arlington vs Cordova

Peabody/UC region championship

Fayette-Ware/Wooddale region championship. Pencil it in now

This is gonna be a great region battle. I honestly could flip a coin between Gibson County/Union City. I am calling them co-favorites lol both extremely young and very talented. Amari Bonds against Micah Hart is gonna be popcorn-worthy. Now having said that I think Greenfield is still gonna be very formidable because Edie Darby is gonna put up some ridiculous numbers and I think they also have 2 more kids that started that are back as well. Bradford has one of the best players in the area, but where is the supporting help coming from??? Praying and hoping we have a season.

Not sure Ciara Taylor is gonna move the needle for Dyersburg much...........good player, but she's not gonna come in and change the fortunes. Now as far as Region 7-AA, it's still between South Side/Westview. I hope South Gibson takes that next step, very young basketball team, with some good talent that needs to learn how to win games.
