  1. I think it's usually the team with the highest seed in round 2. In Round 3 the winning team from this bracket would host. 2022 Class 6A State Football Playoffs Bracket (tssaasports.com)
  2. Glad to see Basin score first and show some fight until the end. Hoping they get their program back on track. Baby steps.
  3. The winner of this game gets the pleasure of playing Tyner in round 2.
  4. I don't know a lot about Sequatchie, but they appear to be a pretty good team. With Central, it just depends on which team shows up that night - especially on defense.
  5. Let's hope it's better than the three hour tour the S.S. Minnow endured. By the Westmoreland scores and competition, they appear to be a formidable team.
  6. Meigs or Marion could end up anywhere from finishing 2nd to not making the playoffs. Division I, Class 2A, Region 3 1 2 3 4 Meigs Co. wins, Bledsoe Co. wins Tyner Bledsoe Co. Meigs Co. Polk Co. Bledsoe Co. wins, Marion Co. wins Tyner Marion Co. Bledsoe Co. Meigs Co. Polk Co. wins, Meigs Co. wins Tyner Meigs Co. Polk Co. Marion Co. Polk Co. wins, Marion Co. wins Tyner Polk Co. Marion Co. 7. Bearden is strong in AAA. They play an equally strong Houston team tomorrow for the State Championship.
  8. The scenarios are mindboggling. Division I, Class 3A, Region 3 1 2 3 4 Kingston wins, McMinn Central wins, Brainerd wins McMinn Central Sweetwater Kingston Brainerd Signal Mountain wins, Kingston wins, McMinn Central wins McMinn Central Sweetwater Kingston Loudon Loudon wins, McMinn Central wins, Brainerd wins McMinn Central Sweetwater Loudon Brainerd Signal Mountain wins, Loudon wins, McMinn Central wins McMinn Central Sweetwater Loudon Signal Mountain Sweetwater wins, Loudon wins, Brainerd wins Sweetwater Loudon McMinn Central Brainerd Signal Mountain wins, Sweetwater wins, Loudon wins Sweetwater Loudon McMinn Central Signal Mountain Sweetwater wins, Kingston wins, Brainerd wins Sweetwater McMinn Central Kingston Brainerd Signal Mountain wins, Sweetwater wins, Kingston wins Sweetwater McMinn Central Kingston Loudon
  9. I don't know who #2 is, but I'm sure the coaches have a reason why he's not playing more. I admit I didn't understand the coach's reasoning for going for it on 4th down in his territory, down 9 with that much time left. Obviously he felt like they could get a first down there, and I'm sure he regretted it after it failed. I wouldn't have attempted it under those circumstances - but that's me. The only thing the DC had a right to be livid about is his defense giving up 49 points.
  10. Ever heard of the blind hog finding an acorn occasionally? I'll give you credit for calling this one correctly. Central's defense was vulnerable to the run, and surprisingly to the deep pass last night.
  11. I haven't heard recently if the TSSAA will indeed re-evaluate based on beginning day numbers versus mid-October numbers. Schools can appeal if they feel it's warranted, but the TSSAA may not consider it in fear of it opening up a can of worms. Rumors are that Alcoa may decide to voluntarily move to 4A, but if they didn't they'd definitely continue ruling 3A. They'd probably rule 4A or even 5A in most years. I think Meigs playing in the 3 -3A Region is a good fit for all the nearby teams already in the Region - some who they already play against.
  12. I know very little about Rockwood (mostly from what Dadof2 has shared) other than their blowout loss to Sweetwater. I think Central's seniors will want to redeem themselves for their previous home game, a humbling Region loss to Loudon. Rockwood isn't a Region game, but I'm sure Central's Seniors will want to make their last regular season (and maybe last) home game a memorable one.
  13. Assuming no one else in these regions move up or down, it will be interesting to see how the TSSAA braintrust splits them up by adding Meigs and Tyner. Region 1 only has 5 teams, so I can see at least 1 team from Region 2 moving. Two of these Regions will have 7 teams in them, unless one of the Chattanooga teams moves to Region 4 which only has 5 teams now. Region 1 Chuckey-Doak High School (Afton, TN) Claiborne High School (New Tazewell, TN) Johnson Co. High School (Mountain City, TN) Unicoi Co. High School (Erwin, TN) West Greene High School (Mosheim, TN) Region 2 Alcoa High School (Alcoa, TN) Austin-East High School (Knoxville, TN) Gatlinburg-Pittman High School (Gatlinburg, TN) Northview Academy (Kodak, TN) Pigeon Forge High School (Pigeon Forge, TN) Union Co. High School (Maynardville, TN) Region 3 Brainerd High School (Chattanooga, TN) Kingston High School (Kingston, TN) Loudon High School (Loudon, TN) McMinn Central High School (Englewood, TN) Signal Mountain High School (Signal Mountain, TN) Sweetwater High School (Sweetwater, TN)
  14. Is that final? I'd heard the TSSAA was going to re-evaluate the enrollment numbers on Oct. 14 versus the first school day enrollment numbers to determine the size. Not sure if they were going to average the numbers or what. I heard it from a good source over the Summer, but not sure where they got the information. If that rumor isn't true then Meigs would be 3 students over the 541, moving them to 3A. They'd probably welcome the move for closer competition of teams they're familiar with - some of who they already play.
  15. Yes I think Central will win. Rockwood is a 2A school, who will end up finishing 3rd in their district - which isn't that strong anyway. Though this isn't a region game, Central has had two weeks to think about what the Loudon loss cost them (they may end up traveling unless they beat Sweetwater), and they should have all their nicked-up players back, and their kinks worked out.
  16. Loudon is catching McMinn at a good time, after the Cherokees sewed up the Region last Friday with their victory over Walker Valley. McMinn beat one of Loudon's best teams last year, giving the Redskins their first and only regular season loss. McMinn's speed on the perimeter and depth in the running game will be the difference.
  17. I think the home teams win in the first round. Though Walker Valley isn't the offensive juggernaut they've been in the past, they still have some weapons, and Karns's defense doesn't appear to be that strong.
  18. I haven't listened to them in a couple years, but when the late Dennis Weaver was there they were great.
  19. Between the bonafide legend you mentioned, Johnny Coffman and you, Terry learned a lot and is doing a great job at McMinn.
  20. Thanks for posting the facts, validating what I posted. You echoed the sentiments I'd heard about the condition of the program. Some people get sensitive and don't want to accept the truth, but burying their head in the sand won't make the program better.
  21. I don't remember, but I remember that Walker Valley has had the better team many times. They're overdue to break through with a win.
  22. The Cherokees have won all 13 games they've played against Walker Valley. I think they'll extend the streak to 14 with the probable region title on the line.
  23. Tough year for the Wildcats, but they're still Oak Ridge and very capable. It's going to take another couple years for the new coach to rebuild them to Oak Ridge standards. He inherited a mess - be patient.
  24. This one will get out of hand quickly for my beloved Fighting Cocks. I haven't lived there in over 40 years, but I keep up with them and the program is a former shell of itself. Great head coach, just not much to work with for many, many years. I think they move down to 4A next year, not that it will help a whole lot. I'm picking West to win it all this year.
