  1. Don't count on that. There's a new player in another thread trying his best to argue with me...even though we basically agree...I'm dumbfounded!!!
  2. Look..."my" team is in 15A, and I can't remember us ever fielding a more lackluster team...if you look back, you'll see that I've never said (or even implied) anything other than top to bottom, 15A isn't as strong as usual...put the best team in state in our (below our usual) district and BINGO...undefeated regular season !!! Why are you being so confrontational about their record, when it hasn't even been alluded to that they would have gone undefeated in 7A? Does that even matter after they beat the best two teams in 7A en route to the gold ball? I really don't even get the point of all this...I'm out. Not trying to be "chippy" with you...when I see your moniker, I know that I can most always take your point of view as very logical...but boy, you've got me shaking my head on this one.
  3. Good try, but no way I'm getting back into a debate about what if this, and if they that...nobody said anything about anybody's record, just plenty of speculation about who would win the gold ball and why, and the kids settled that without our input. This particular thread was "best district", and I just stated that I couldn't argue 15A's case, even after one of the teams just won it all...sheesh, just let it go.
  4. 38-34 MLK! They must've brought the 'Gipper in for the halftime speech.
  5. Still not going to say that 15A was the best district top to bottom...Scotts Hill, Madison, and Adamsville were way off their normal competitiveness, and even TCA was weaker than usual. After sending two to the final eight, and bringing the gold ball back, it's really hard not to say that the top of 15A was the best of the best though.
  6. They may be the 31-0 team in 16' come tourney week.
  7. Yeah, thought that the all tourney team was bogus too. Rankings are tough...matchups have lots to do with game outcomes. Riverside loses big to OS, OS loses big to C'range, who in turn loses by 10+ to Middleton...should mean that Middleton blows Riverside clear out of the gym, right? Wrong. Out of four games head to head, Riverside played them games comparable to Pickett Co. and South Greene in three of them...go figure.
  8. Congrat's to the Lady Tigers on a great season! Glad that Coach Burkley finally gets some recognition, he's kept the boys team at the high level that Smalley had established for years, and taken the worst team in 15A to the mountain top. Also glad that her teammates got to give Deja the gold ball, I know that mean't a lot to them...just wish that the rest of the state had the opportunity to see how good that she really is. Congrat's also to C'range, and the reat of the teams that made it to the Glass House...it's a great accomplishment just to be there!
  9. Middleton's post's in foul trouble. One last lick on that poor ole' dead horse...with Faulkner's added fouls to give and her inside presence, Middleton wins. Looking like their chances are good anyway...eight point lead at the 3:47 mark, but C'range didn't get here by folding under pressure.
  10. Yep, Riverside used rough play against the speed of Middleton to play them close...looks like Rodgers watched plenty of film, but the ref's aren't allowing it.
  11. Tie at the half! I'll give Rodgers the edge in strategy...if Meadows stays out of foul trouble in the second half C'range should "fix" some of the problems Middleton is causing with their pressure. Inside presence will also cause the Lady Tigers more problems after adjustments, but so far they have maneuvered well enough to counter the size deficit...if Middleton can stay out of foul trouble, keep it within easy reach until late, and crank up the press another notch (it gets more intense) at the end, they have an excellent shot. Halftime until 4:30 mark probably decides this one.
  12. This may be the game that Middleton misses Faulkner most...not just a quality team, but lots of size in the post. They have answered every challenge, and pulled together as a team like champions do. All the what if's, and's, but's & or's aside...Middleton is athletic, puts pressure on the opposing offenses and defenses, and they haven't found the panic button all season...C'range is big, well coached, and shoots well when set. I'm sure that panic isn't in their vocabulary either. Looks like a matchup game to me, and a contest of wills. If C'range can keep the game methodical, be patient with the offense, and run only when it benefits them, they may win by double digits...if Middleton can accelerate the speed of the game, defend the entry pass to the post, and make the shots that they have made all season, they could also win by ten or more. Two very different, but very good teams...may the best man, errr...ladies win!
  13. If I say it or imply it, I'll own it right or wrong, and that's all that's been asked of you...I'm done with you and this whole antagonistic subject. Good day, and enjoy the rest of the tournament.
  14. Gotta say that I respect your answer Monkey Wrench...my gripe isn't with the privates in DI, it's TSSAA's lack of a solution...but that's not for here and now. Good luck to CA, y'all got the worst "draw" in the history of the tournament. At full strength Mitchell just might have a shot at the AA and AAA titles. Their only in state loss was by four to Hamilton, who are favored by many to take the AAA gold ball home. Not disrespecting CA at all, but tough sledding for an obviously good team.
  15. You made two bold statements, and were incredibly wrong on both. Yeah, it's beating a dead horse, but with their star player Middleton is the best 1A team in Tennessee, period. As they are, their win over Pickett Co. says that they still have as good of a team as anyone there. Riverside was not a state caliber team, and I said so all year...kudos to them for fighting tooth and nail to over achieve and make it there, but they were badly outclassed, and nowhere near the best that Middleton faced. I couldn't care less whether your predictions make you look like an all knowing basketball guru or not, but you seem to let everyone know when you were close to right, and shrug off the many that make you look foolish with "my estimation wasn't too far fetched". We've all been wrong (me many times) on occasion, but most of us have the humility to say so. You also dismissed Houston Co. earlier for their "easy schedule", yet when they go toe to toe with Clarkrange, all of a sudden the Buff's were the only team in the tournament that stood a chance to beat them...take a stand and stick with it, or learn to admit when you're wrong if you want my respect (which I already know that you care nothing about, so spare me that comeback).
  16. You seriously didn't expect anything other than that reply...did you? Seems to me I remember a similar quote from him, something to the effect that you'd owe him an apology when Middleton (back before the Faulkner injury) ran into a 7A team and was sent home, and that their middle school team would go undefeated against Middleton's schedule.
  17. Probably no worse (sloppy) at this stage than anyone else. unless someone has a massive dome over their field that I'm not aware of. Just can't seem to get 'ol ma nature to cooperate with the warm, dry weather. Coach Britt has been drumming them with in game situations, short fielding, hitting in the cage, ect...they know it, just can't get game situation rep's in.
  18. I don't particularly care for bold, brash statements that dismiss a good (no bad ones left) team's chances...Mitchell will most likely back up anything posted though. They have stepped up in competition all season, and played toe to toe with the best of the big Memphis schools, so the tournament has the potential of being almost a cakewalk for them. The Union City folks think that they can play with Mitchell...yet to be seen, but they may be the only school with much of a shot. I have no dog in the race, and I actually hope that I'm wrong.
  19. Why can't we just let it go??? Big deal the headbands! If the girls were so distraught over their hair/headbands that it affected their play, their focus was waaayyy in the wrong place. For the legality of the ref's actions to be debated into dust just trivializes the fact that Riverside rode a bus for almost two hours, entered a hostile enviroment where most (including me) only gave them a slim chance, and beat a very solid team in their home gym. Bet Riverside would've fought just as hard if the ref's had shaved their heads before tipoff.
  20. You'll feel better eventually if you just let it go.The folks at Gibson County have moved on...you're just a memory, and the only one who's feelings are still hurt won't let it heal.
  21. I think that this game happened a year late Pioneer...SS is outmatched player for player. Talent isn't nearly what they had last season with Barford and Hicks, but they go 100% all game, and will not rattle, no matter what. If Haywood is as good as I hear they are, they'll win by 10+.
  22. In my best Lee Corso voice..."not so fast my friend"! I hate to play devils advocate, because I do agree with you that 7A's representatives are probably better than 15A's Middleton (without Faulkner) and Riverside. I would have figured Middleton to be the best 1A team with Deja in the lineup, hands down...they played Union City even until losing on a buzzer beater, on Union City's home floor last season, graduated nobody, and looked much better this year than last. Without Faulkner (best offensive and defensive player), they are now very beatable, if only by a handful of teams. Riverside has surprised me, they have some talent, but their determination, physicality, and hustle is what earned them their ticket to the glass house. I'll say again that I'm not disagreeing...just that it's still a little early to say that 7A is "clearly" the best when there's still two 15A teams in the final eight.
  23. Never take a 7A team lightly...one of them will usually play Saturday's game, and a couple of years ago the 3'rd place team won it all.
  24. Easy to do...I've had to re-check a couple of times too.
