  1. Reading between the lines, it looks like your Administration assumed that things were as they were pre-covid and didn't bother checking supply chain issues. Henderson Co. was ready to move forward with the Lexington/Scotts Hill projects a year earlier, but getting material for bleacher construction was not possible for 13 months. Luckily we were aware of this before demolition of the old ones left us sitting on the ground.
  2. Not saying that any of this isn't true (from those sources I'd say it is), but you also need to understand that each district has a coaches meeting before the season to decide (among other things) how all this happens. Some districts/regions have a bid process to host, some draw for rotation to host, and some vote neutral site. Lots of regions rotate even/odd years to district hosts... you get the picture. I'll go on record that I like letting the teams involved decide.
  3. TryNotToSuck did a pretty good job of summarizing their thought process, but I get what you're saying... what on earth would cause that way of thinking??? Liberty Tech achieved all their goals, and in a hurry. Both basketball programs and football were state championship level, and the rest were very good and getting to where they wanted to be as well...all at once coaches started leaving like rats running from a barn fire, and championship level teams were struggling to get a win here and there. Programs are not easy to build, so I am left wondering why they were abandoned, just like you are. As for JCM, they tried to build athletics up too quickly there...Hired some big names to some big money contracts, while champion coaches were "earning" much less money for much more work. I personally thought that there'd be lawsuits and coaches leaving their other schools, but only the big money was pulled off the table and Rudesill & Shutes grinned all the way to the bank on their way out. The rest of the story is left to be written. Edit Lawsuits are still a possibility...go watch one of their coaches jerk his kids around by their limbs and jerseys while screaming in their faces. Makes Bobby Knight look like Dean Smith.
  4. I'll acknowledge that Wilkins can coach (not a news flash), but I'll brag on him for you about being a sportsman and having some class. Stopped by H'town for some tourney they had, and when I entered the building the horn sounded... score was 63-27 Fillies and I thought the game was over. After wondering why the next teams weren't warming up, a closer inspection said that it was only halftime...starters never stood up in the 2'nd half other than to cheer for the "bench" which was used down to the last five playing significant minutes.
  5. No. that'd be a suckers bet for sure, but to be precise it's " The Sherminator".
  6. No... but in a thread about Hootie you just had to know that the blowfish wouldn't be far behind.
  7. im real glad that your not falling for that mess ST, i guarantee you that id be real mad if i missed the end after they charge to much to watch it. You think im joking, but im not.
  8. Government & network news media been doing it for years... why not?
  9. Beat you to it by a couple of months...there's just no escape from all of them, but blocking them on here is easy enough.
  10. Poppycock. You don't "turn down a gold ball" to go to your hometown, then leave your hometown this soon to go back and try to win a gold ball. I'm the last guy on here that will question his reasons (not my business & I don't care), but I'm not the guy to be condescending enough to let you wee wee down my back and tell me it's raining either. Just for the record, whatever anyone chooses to do for their personal reasons is beyond my criticism... I don't ever "fault" anyone for bettering themselves or their situation.
  11. I agree, but don't really understand how a town the size of Martin has roughly the same amount of kids as Scotts Hill... closest traffic light is 13 miles away...1 cafe', 1 grocery, two gas stations, two post offices, three banks, and a lot of corn and soybeans. Worse than that, if our building were bigger we could probably have 600 to 700 students instead of turning some away from lack of room, and Westview can't maintain a student population close to what they had 20 years ago?
  12. Kinda old is what I am, and "holmes" was pretty popular for a long run. Not where it originated, but was made "cool" by Cheech Marin beginning in the early 70's and booming in the late 70's and early 80's through the Cheech and Chong movie franchise. Everybody that considered themselves street savvy used holmes to address other folk. Also wishing good luck to the community getting the new school...sometimes it's bumpy getting started.
  13. If 100 apply and you don't have a good coach when it's over someone failed... on the other side of the coin, if only one applies and you get a good coach in him, that's all that matters.
  14. Why would Alcoa pay better than most to get someone to leave? Just asking for a friend
  15. Three simple sentences. Not one misleading or indirect thought. Best post in months regarding hires for athletics.
  16. You don't leave the situation he had there last time unless there's some serious friction someplace. Rumor was that it was a control issue... it was only a rumor, and he chose to go back into the exact same scenario, so it may/may not have been true. It will definitely be interesting to see how the next few years play out in Martin.
  17. Wolfe would be a good hire. Offense would probably slow down some, but the defense would more than make up the difference in my opinion.
  18. McConnell is a brilliant offensive coach...if he can get a good defensive coordinator and let him do his thing, Westview will be a juggernaut as soon as Simpson gets comfortable in the QB role. If McConnell's ego gets in the way of the defense, there'll be blowout wins against lesser competition and 70 point shootouts against the good teams. May be sooner, but I look for Westview to be the favorites two years from now if they can stay in 2A, and to be picked to get to the championship if they move back up.
  19. The only other broadcast team to be in the same class with them would be Pat Summerall and John Madden. I'll give Keith Jackson credit... he's one of only two commentators to ever have the ability to make me want to kick out the screen on my TV (the other being Gary Danielson). Jackson was often biased and obnoxious... Danielson just plain stupid. One of my favorite Vol memories... Powell broke through the line and had Bennie Blades to beat to the endzone... Blades grasping for Powell's shirttail and Jackson yelling "goodbye...touchdown!!! Then had to listen to Frank Broyles for two minutes wondering how Powell outran Blades for about 50 yards when Blades "has world class speed" and "set the 400 meter record for the state of Florida". According to both of them, Tennessee was lucky to be on the same field with Miami, and the only question was would Miami beat Tennessee bad enough to jump from #2 in the poll to the #1 ranking and win the national championship. The Vols smoked Miami 35-7, and Miami had to pull off a fake punt to score at all.
  20. Another West Tennessee perspective, so you will probably get a more accurate answer from someone else... I think that because the overwhelming majority of schools in the western division are relatively closer in enrollment than middle/east, that it does stand to completely rearrange the region alignments more so than the two others. Outside Memphis, most schools fall into the 400'ish to 1,000 or barely above student category, with the 2A/3A and 3A/4A division numbers consistently shifting. Case in point...Scotts Hill replaces the Principal and Assistant Principal while the county system replaces the Director. Nobody is "minding the store" so they enroll more kids than the building code allows (560) and jumps to 3A. No big deal, one school moves up for 2 years...only that allows TSSAA to place eight teams in one 2A region, combining a traditional Northwest region with a Southeastern region (in the western grand division). If not for those 20 or so "extra" kids at Scotts Hill, there are two separate regions who match up differently in the playoff format... sort of a butterfly effect that carries over into the other classifications too.
