  1. Pearl would beat Glencliff’s 1999 team with CJ Scott and CJ Johnson as badly as they wanted to. It would be a massacre. This may be the best Pearl team since their 1997 team. They’ve taken on all comers. I would love to see a hypothetical matchup between Pearl-Cohn and Oakland this year. I know most years Oakland would probably beat them convincingly but this year I think it would be a great battle.
  2. East Robertson is 2A and Heritage is 3A. It should be a good game.
  3. It's a fact. The tuba section from the Pearl-Cohn band would start at Glencliff.
  4. Congratulations to Camden on a big win last night. Coach McConnell and his staff have had those guys competing all season long. Camden and Adamsville (Region 6) and Harpeth and East Hickman (Region 5) will be the 4 best non playoff teams in 2A this year. Those are 4 teams that would make the playoffs in a lot of other regions.
  5. Pearl-Cohn will never become Glencliff. The school’s cheerleading coach could become the head football coach and I’d say it’s a safe bet that PC would never fall to that level of obscurity.
  6. There’s no way. How does an entire officiating crew miss a FG going through the uprights? If that is the case that whole crew should be suspended and never allowed to officiate a game again.
  7. Yes. In Week 10 White House-Heritage travels to East Robertson for a non-region contest Fairview hosts Sycamore Cheatham County hosts Stewart County In Week 11 Cheatham County hosts Lawrence County in a non-region contest Stewart County hosts Sycamore Fairview hosts White House-Heritage
  8. I was looking at the history of Metro Football Coaches on another site and I don’t think I’ve found one who won 200 games. Coach Tony Brunetti’s mark currently stands at 164-64 as Pearl-Cohn’s coach. His first year as an educator was the 1997-1998 school year at Cheatham County. That means he has the rest of this season and then 3 more years to get his 30 years through the state. I think he has a great shot at winning 200 games for his career. Coaches like Nick Coutras, Wes Elrod, Jerry Pigue, Herschel Moore, Maurice Fitzgerald, and Ron Aydelott come to mind right away. I don’t believe any of them won 200+ games in their legendary careers. Coach Brunetti has taken Pearl-Cohn to the State Championship Game on 3 occasions. He has yet to win a Gold Ball. If that changes and he both wins 200+ games and wins a State Championship then you could put him on the Mt. Rushmore of All-Time Metro-Nashville Football Coaches.
  9. The 2A State Champion will be the team that survives this quad. You're looking at potential 1st Round Matchups if a bracket were released today: Waverly/Huntingdon Mount Pleasant/Milan Parsons Riverside/Lewis County Peabody/Loretto
  10. They were only 5-9 in 2018 but rode the James Moore Express through Pearl-Cohn & Fairview and nearly beat Covington in an overtime game in the semifinals. They were 8-4 and were upset in the second round in 2019. Since that time they've struggled. 2-7 in 2020 3-8 in 2021 2-9 in 2022 Their first year coaching staff should be thrilled about being 5-3 this season. I believe they were the last school in the state, maybe with the exception of McEwen after their coach resigned during the Dead Period, to fill their coaching vacancy this summer. Their players should be applauded for staying the course and working to have a solid season.
  11. Stratford is also having a great season under Anthony Law
  12. Region Standings & Scenarios 1.). White House-Heritage: 3-0 (5-3 Overall) 2.). Fairview: 2-0 (5-3 Overall) 3.). Sycamore: 1-1 (2-6 Overall) 4.). Stewart County: 0-2 (0-8 Overall) 5.). Cheatham County: 0-3 (2-6 Overall) White House-Heritage plays at Fairview in Week 11. The winner of that contest is the Region Champion and will earn a #1 seed in the playoffs. Sycamore is the #3 seed in the region right now. If Fairview loses both of their remaining games Sycamore would jump up to the #2 seed. The winner of the Week 10 Stewart County at Cheatham County contest will earn the #4 seed and qualify for the playoffs. The loser is mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
  13. After reading this closely I'll take a guess and say that you've got to be a community member who targeted the coach and was in tight with someone in a position of power in the WCS to make his dismissal become a reality. So why are you so upset?
  14. I'm going to guess that the "right" person wanted him removed as soon as possible as head football coach. In the eyes of many who are still in the system it is generally how Williamson County operates from an administrative level when it comes to supporting the "right parents" and "right kids". What else could you expect from a school system that's being ran by a person with zero classroom teaching experience? It's ran like a courtroom case on a Law & Order television series which means that it's seemingly a never ending game of "got ya" and unfortunately Alex Melton was gotten this week. I hope he lands on his feet somewhere and finds peace and happiness in coaching outside of WCS. In my opinion I'll say that Joines, like Qualls before him, is nothing more than a "yes man" surrounded by politicians who are all looking out for their own self interests at the end of the day.
  15. Too many sharks! Only so much water available! 6A Ravenwood Brentwood Franklin Independence Summit 5A Nolensville Centennial Page I've said for years that Fairview (3A) is in a prime position to really become a middle TN powerhouse for a long time to come. All of these schools are sharing so many great athletes and that does not even begin to factor in the countless private schools throughout the area. Fairview is the WilCo school that doesn't have to endure the gauntlet of playing 3-4 others annually in region play. Their road to the playoffs is much more manageable which means that their kids are able to play on bigger stages in November when it matters most. They also get to play on the same $1.3M playing surface that all 8 of the "bigger" schools are able to play on every year. Franklin is not "bad" by any means. They are just trapped in a gauntlet of a region and have came up short on the scoreboard for 3 years now. They would likely have a lot of success if they were able to play against 5A and 6A teams that are outside of Williamson County.
  16. If 3 teams end up tied for the region championship a 3 way tie is the next tiebreaker meaning that overall record/non region results determine the #1 seed. White House-Heritage (2-3; 1 to go) W- Harpeth & East Hickman L- Forrest, Westmoreland, Greenbrier They play East Robertson in Week 10. Fairview (3-2; 1 to go) W- Creek Wood, Montgomery Central, & Richland L- East Hickman & Waverly They play Independence in Week 8. Sycamore (1-5; 0 to go) W- Maplewood L- Kirkwood, Lawson, Clarksville Academy, East Robertson, & Stratford They’ve played all of their non-region games. Cheatham County (2-3; 1 to go) W- Cannon County & Jo Byrns L- Lawson, Hickman County, & Harpeth They play Lawrence County in Week 11.
  17. Fairview has gotten much better since the start of the season. Their young guys have improved and gotten much better as the season has progressed. That should only pay big dividends in the weeks and years to come. They play a football team in Independence that is very good and capable of making a deep run in the 6A state playoffs. Their 4-3 record is very misleading. Independence's only losses this season are to: Oakland (34-14): whose lone defeat was to an Indiana powerhouse Centennial (29-23 in OT): who's undefeated on the season Ravenwood (16-14): whose lone defeat came against Alcoa White House-Heritage is having a nice season under their first year coaching staff. Since the early part of the season many are projecting them as the favorites to win the region. They've already beaten both Cheatham County and Sycamore in highly contested ball games. Coach Murray and his staff should be ecstatic about the season that they've had with a young football team. The Cheatham County/Sycamore "Powder Keg Battle" is always highly competitive between northern county rivals. This year's contest between the Cubs & War Eagles carries a lot of playoff stipulations. Ashland City vs Pleasant View is always a good one to attend if you've never been to this annual battle of rivals.
  18. Just make sure you keep your shirt on this time bolddust.
  19. I want to say good luck to everyone in the region this week. It’s hard to believe that there are only 3 more weeks of games to be played after this week wraps up. This week should have probably been called ‘Homecoming Week 2023’ seeing as how it’s going to be the Homecoming Game for Stewart County (Gibson County), Fairview (Montgomery Central), and Cheatham County (Hickman County). White House Heritage also plays at home against Greenbrier while Sycamore is the only school on the road as they travel to Maplewood.
  20. Their head coach's overall record is 160-64 since he took over the program. He's 9-3 all-time in the Quarterfinal Round of the Playoffs (said to be the most difficult game by many to win in the playoffs). 9 trips to the state semifinals and barring a major upset that will become 10 trips in two months time. I'd choose another word to use besides "underachieving" because your argument is not supported by statistics. The teams that have beaten them in the playoffs include the likes of: CPA (private) Goodpasture (private) Knoxville Catholic (private) UNDEFEATED Anderson County UNDEFEATED Tullahoma Trezevant when they won the State Championship Memphis East when they won the State Championship Fulton when they were winning multiple State Championships Alcoa whose won more State Championships than anyone Nationally the last 20 years Your argument makes it sound like they have had the best players in the state and lost to Montgomery Central in the playoffs.
  21. That is correct. It’s always been a great place to teach and coach. The players continue to work hard and compete.
  22. It was obviously a great game. Congratulations to Coach Hughes & The Jackets on the W. I know it’s always special for Coach Jackson and Coach Langley to return to their alma mater and leave with a W.
  23. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Maryville is still "good" like a lot of other teams. Maryville no longer carries around a mystique that makes people afraid of them/worship them. That era is long gone and not coming back. Bradley Central, Knoxville West, Alcoa, Greeneville, Elizabethton, and others are just as good as Maryville these days. They are not Oakland beating the brakes off of all of the other Rutherford County teams (seemingly invincible). If Maryville advances beyond the 2nd/3rd Round of the playoffs it is now considered a great year. There's no shame in that either. Let the backlash begin.....
  24. If this was Giles County or Fairview the TSSAA would be turning over every rock, pebble, fragment of dirt to look into this. It’s Lipscomb and the TSSAA is hoping that the backlash magically goes away.
