  1. Heard a radio show on the way home last night and the emcee said Lake County may be the hottest team in West Tennessee. They will have a big task against former HC and current Haywood assistant Josh Puckett. The Tomcats are averaging around 47 points per game. I know LC has some good looking skills, but can their lines hold up against the big boys and the vaunted HC rushing attack?
  2. Plus coaching is generally horrible in Memphis
  3. Milan had a TD called back in the final two minutes and then "missed" a field goal to tie their announcers claimed was dead down the middle. Told you the officials would play a role at Alamo like they always do.
  4. That's worth at least two scores officials wise, lol - just kinda kidding
  5. Where is this game at? If it is at Crockett it could be close. At Milan, I give the Bulldogs the edge.
  6. Haywood County is a different animal. Not sure McKenzie would have the depth to hang for a whole game. But still an interesting perspective.
  7. There is a video out there where Peabody's coach lights up Stowe and Dyersburg. It is much watch and point on.
  8. Melrose is a joke. No locker room, crappy restrooms, worse officials ever. Classless coaches and players. Typical Memphis bs, buy they still took that arse whipping. Hope we see hem again in the playoffs in Brownsville.
  9. One of their clips showed three women officials lol...never know what you will get in Memphis.
  10. I kinda worry about what kind of officials we are going to get
  11. No biggie. I think Haywood reached out to a lot of those schools, but the feeling is they have too much to lose and nothing to gain by playing Haywood. Father Ryan, for example - a loss to a small 4A school with not much funding would be hard to explain.
  12. I assure you BigRed88 that Haywood is not afraid to play Henry County. That game may be back on next year.
  13. Typical Memphis team. They will be athletic, but won't have a kicking game. They may hang for a while, but Haywood should roll. They actually have field turf, which seemed to fit our style very well. Haywood 48-12.
  14. Milan definitely got the focused version of the players and what they ca be.
  15. I actually think Milan is a lot more athletic and much better than last season. The decision to go for it early in the game was a big momentum changer. Milan is still much smaller on the line of scrimmage and lacks some depth, but should do just fine. I'll keep to myself who did a lot of trash talking, but it was someone who should know better all things considered.
  16. I'll save you the time... a basic summary of one paragraph. Although they did have a nice photo gallery from the game
  17. After the letter to the editor this newspaper ran, I have no reason to believe they would publish a real story on the game. After all that chatter and all that trash talk all week, what can you say.
  18. He did... backup offense played most of the second half.
  19. Don't anger a big, bad bully. That's the takeaway for me...
  20. I believe Dr. Johnny Tucker Jr. wrote a piece basically saying that the Tomcats would be "mouthy...consider the source." Haywood County is used to hearing such negative remarks, so I'm sure that doesn't add much fuel to the fire. Neither would picking them to lose because as most people know, journalists actually know very little about the game, lol. Strap on those helmets and show what you got. Let's see if Milan has improved 33 points over last year and/or Haywood is not the team they were last season. That will be decided in about 12 hours.
  21. It's going to take a top notch effort from Haywood to avoid a tough road loss at Milan. But I assure you the Tomcats will be ready. This is not their first time to enter hostile territory with the whole state watching. Coach Smith has not lost a region game in going on six seasons, and that goes back to Germantown days and includes two wins over a then nationally ranked Whitehaven, one on the road. Hoping for a great game from both sides. Haywood 42, Milan 31.
  22. As a long time former sports editor, I used to establish a relationship with the stat keeper for teams I didn't cover directly, but the teams I covered weekly I kept my own stats. The way things work now, you are lucky to get the newspapers to get your score. It's the lazy world we live in and journalism died a wicked death long ago. The newsppers these days want the coaches and everyone else to do their jobs for them.
