  1. Actually, this is a Jack Diggs quote. Don't know where he got it.
  2. End of Half Scott 37 Wartburg 12
  3. End of First Scott 21 Wartburg 6
  4. After you play Kingston, will you have a pretty fair idea of how you will fare against Alcoa?
  5. Nothing untoward was intended. I know nothing about CAK and so asked the questions. I have known, as you may have also, coaches who would ingratiate themselves with parents by leaving the stars in after the outcome has been decided. I have seen this in a few high schools, but more in junior high. Up here on the plateau I get to read the scores of both Kentucky and Tennessee high schools. When I see numbers in the sixties and seventies I wonder what exactlly happened. Here's another question from someone who doesn't know all that much about football. - After the mercy rule comes into effect, would the winning coach not play the first team defense, but play the second team on offense? Or do many of them do that already?
  6. My thoughts, based on season results so far, are that Scott doesn't have much chance in this game. The question is when will the mercy rule take effect and what will CAK do after it happens. Will they remove their QB? Go strictly to run game? Or will they just use this game to pad statistics?
  7. I just don't see how leaving, changing schools, and disappointing players can be called a "class act". Reportedly he told a group of players that he "could coach anywhere in the state". Personally, I hope he chooses a county bordering the Mississippi River.
  8. Don't disagree about the strength of the east. I live here and support the teams from the east. Just added what I did for accuracy. So, in essense, four of the six DI champs came from the east half of the bracket. Good job. Just wish Powell could have won. Know some of the folks there.
  9. Check your map. Friendship Christian is in Lebanon (middle Tenn). Also, DII A winner is St. George's (west) DII AA winner is Ensworth (west) DI 1A winner is Wayne Co. (west DI 5A winner is Henry Co. (west)
  10. Class A - Wayne Co./Waynesboro (probably West) Class 2A - FCS/Lebanon (definitely Middle Tenn) Class 3A - CAK/Knoxville (def. East) Class 4A - Greeneville (def. East) Class 5A - Henry Co./Paris (def West) Class 6A - Maryville (def East) DII A - St. Georges/Memphis (def West) DII AA - Ensworth (don't know)
  11. Roy, I read one time about a feller named Milo from Kroton. His daddy give him a baby bull calf when the boy was young. One day the daddy asked to see the calf. Milo run out and lifte up the baby calf and carried it in to show his daddy. His daddy then asked about the calf every day and as the calf got bigger, Milo got stronger and bigger. Do you reckon those Wayne County boys have been doing this? I think there are lots of farms in Wayne County and probably lots of baby calves.
  12. Just realized two of the games were Tri-cities vs. Tricities. Those shouldn't count so 9 played - 6 lost.
  13. I don't know what these numbers say specifically, but I found them interesting. There were 11 teams from what I would describe as the Tri-cities area that played last night. 8 lost. There were 8 (I think) teams from what I would call the Chattanooga area playing last night. 5 lost. There were 18 teams from the Knoxville TV market area that played last night. 4 lost.
  14. Here is what the schedule tells us about these two teams. There are 3 common opponents. Both were defeated by Mo West (Greeneville was within a touchdown) Both defeated Carter by serious margins (Greeneville was a laffer) Alcoa defeated Fulton; Alcoa lost to Greeneville. The schedule says Greeneville should win this. Playoff experience in the coaching area - slight edge to Fulton (I bet Coatney is helping). Number of seniors starting - edge to Greeneville. Home field - Greeneville. However - Does Greeneville's diet of cupcakes hamper their starter's ability to go hard the whole game. We shall see.
  15. We at Scott High learned something about Fulton from the years playing against them. If you plan on beating them, you better play them in week 1, 2, or 3. After that, the coaches start to figure out who of the 100 or so kids on the team really want to and can play. Good luck to you guys. Hope you win it all.
  16. WBNT made it sound as if the officials had their eyes and ears open tonight. Could it be that they have been instructed to watch closely because of what happened in the 4A championship game last year?
  17. Coalfield 35 Lookout Valley 23 2:00 to go in 3rd Q
  18. Oneida wins. Long but happy trip home.
  19. Oneida intercepts Hampton pass in Hampton territory 1:07 to go Hampton with 2 time outs
  20. Conversion fails Oneida 20 Hampton 16 2:00 left
  21. From WBNT 16 - 14 Hampton 10:30 remaining 4th quarter
  22. Stone should win this one. Scott has two decent backs (Goad and Byrge) and a powerful blocking back. Their problem, as I saw last Friday, was difficulty running between the tackles. Most of their yardage seemed to come from sweeps, pitches, and broken plays that went around either end. Passing was not very prevalent in the offense. The common opponent Loudon should show the difference. But we play the game to decide, don't we. Go Scott.
