  1. I would have hoped if I was one of the players, that I would have confronted the coach before the game and said we ain't doing this. But I probably would not have. It would make for a great ESPN 30 for 30. Interview the coaches, refs, principals, the upset momma's and daddy's. Whoever has connections get that ball rolling. Oh yea, did anyone from Riverdale or Smyrna make the all district trny team?
  2. This is easy, call Richie Estep over at Goodpasture.
  3. Found this from an old email about a situation in a game. Thought it was kinda funny. Score was 5-3 at the time. We batted out of order and our guy got a base hit with 2 outs. our next guy comes up and fouls one off then the opposing brought it to the umpires attention. according to rule 6.07 article C once a pitch is thrown it's too late to be called out. The umpire ruled us out and inning over. Wrong ruling. We even tried to tell him the rule but he didn't change. He had time to put us back on first and an 0-1 count which is what he should have done before the next half inning started. His hat said TSSAA. He should know better. Please send this to all umpiring crew chiefs.
  4. Pretty sure he he was not a major league scout. I think the guy you are referring to is nicknamed "Rainman". Good at stealing signs but pays $100.00 for every item he gets at the concession stand. Invite him to your ballpark, he is a great fundraiser.
  5. Please don't insult the intelligence of just T-ball moms. Please add T-Ball dad's and grandparents.
  6. I coach a team that played HAH and after the game I talked to a staff member from MTSU. This staff member was at the game because we talked about a player or 2 in front of our dugout. He may not have had on his MTSU gear that day but he was there. Again just because you didnt see them there personally doesn't mean they weren't there.
  7. If a coach brought out a rule book to show the umpire the correct ruling what would you do as an umpire?
  8. Any truth to Coach Hardison retiring?
  9. I know who should win, but I'm gonna go with the "on any give night" theory. Bobkittens stun the Bears tonight. Not one of Overton's better teams but just might be one of those nights. Has Overton lost this game to Mt. Juliet the last 3 or 4 years in a row?
  10. on your way to your next game say this 3 times, "there will be a bad call, there will be a bad call, there will be a bad call". As many games as you have been to hader you would think you'd wake up every day and know that everything ain't gonna go perfect for you. Let's go fishing some time.
  11. Head is out. Just making sure USA pd the $149.00 to advertise the tryout on CoachT. Hader you're the greatest. Let's go fishing sometime.
  12. Which kids did CPA recruit on the basketball team?
  13. Is it free and if not how much does it cost?
  14. Craig Revis when he was at LaVergne. Not sure if he does it at siegel games.
  15. What are the transfer rules for ghost runners? http://cdn.coacht.com/boards/public/style_emoticons/default/popcorneater.gif
  16. Ok Redog your out from under the porch. We all know both public and private are neither pure as snow. For the most part the high school athlete doesn't care. Warren Buffett finds ways around paying too much taxes and parents find ways to get their kids to certain schools. If I was a public school athlete I would be begging my coach to play the Ensworths and MBA's and BA's. If was I was a private school athlete I would won't to be whipping some public school as well. It's called competing. The real competitors don't care if the private school has a few "recruited players" or the public school has a few shady transfers. The split all started when some coaches said it's not fair. Life ain't fair. If the TSSAA had never done the split we would still be having the same arguments but actually getting to compete against each other more freely and we would actually know who the best team in the state is. Hold on I just thought of something, split them up and have more state champions to crown and have more gates to collect. Surely that's not what the TSSAA thought. No way. The athlete was not asked. Once again parents get in the way. Go CPA Lions.
  17. In 2014 there will be a new addition to 7-AAA with Stewarts Creek opening up. It will be interesting to see who ends up going to Stewarts Creek in 2014. Lot's of rumors out there. I predict they won't come in last their first year. I heard they where already trying to book Dave Serrano to be the banquet speaker. Go Big Orange!!!
  18. So if Billy Allstar from Onehorse Co. High School is one of the better players in the state, it boils down to his hillbilly high school coach to pay dues to the TBCA for him to go play in a TBCA event? I bet mommanem would be plum flustered if that kept Billy Allstar from playing. I can hear a college coach now "Where is the Billy Allstar kid we been hearing about?". TBCA director responds, "His coach didn't pay his dues."
  19. What about in the summer? Dose that same rule apply,50%?
  20. Is it clear as mud that it only pertains to fall baseball/softball and not in the summer? Some softball coaches think you can't have a summer team with more than 5 players. Yet baseball does it in the summer with their whole team. Why does one coach interpret it one way and the other coach interprets it another?
  21. Redog you don't know what goes on in rutherford county. We do it legal down here. We move to the zone we want our kids to go to. If we have a Mom or Dad that works in the school system we get exemptions. We have an IB program we can sign up for at 1 school if we want to go to it. Legal baby. Get back under the porch redog.
  22. The problem or no problem lies with the school's principal or athletic director, whichever they have. There are some kids that are capable of playing 3 sports and contributing to each team. For instance if a kid plays baseball and basketball, in some situations the kid is pulled in 2 different directions by both coaches. Basketball coach wants him to play AAU BB in summer and got to BB camps with team in summer. Baseball coach wants player to play summer baseball and in some cases play only summer baseball for school team. Then football coach wants baseball player that has a better chance to play baseball after hs than football after hs to quit his summer team and start his running and conditioning with the other players. Baseball player then decides he will not play football anymore. There, are your summer conflicts. That happens a lot to guys that are multi-sport high school athletes but don't actually get to have that experience because of coaches thinking their sport is more important than others instead of looking at each individual's situation. Some schools would not encourage a Mookie Betts to be on the bowling team and play basketball. TSSAA ain't perfect but the coaches make it tough on players and sometimes that Principal or AD needs to have a better pulse on the situation.
  23. Steve Springer, Performance Coach for the Toronto Blue Jays, will be at the private indoor heated hitting facility @ 1111 Waldron Rd. LaVergne, TN 37086 on Sunday January 9, 2011 @ 3:00 pm. Steve is a former Junior College player, D-1 College player, Professional Minor League player, and Major League player. He has been an amateur scout (scouting amateur players for the annual MLB June Draft) and is currently a professional scout with the Toronto Blue Jays (scouting current minor league players for possible free agent acquisitions or trades) along with being the Performance Coach for the Blue Jay organization. His website, www.qualityatbats.com, is full of impressive testimonials. This one-day clinic is geared toward the high school/college player and the parents of hitters. If you have an advanced middle school hitter this would also be great for the parent. Cost for the clinic is $10.00 per individual if reservation made. Walkups on day of $15.00. This is also a great tool for coaches. This is not teaching a certain style of hitting but it’s the mentality of the hitter before the at bat and during the at bat. To make reservations call 615-220-1091 or email to retongakyle@yahoo.com. Bring your own fold out chair if you want to sit down. George Horton former Cal St. Fullerton Head Coach and University of Oregon Head Coach, “Every high school and college player will learn something from this CD. It helped change our program.†Mike Gillespie

Steve spoke to the University of Notre Dame softball team, which was ranked #25 in the country after the 2010 season and lost in the NCAA Tournament to #2 Michigan. They were also the # 1 ranked hitting team in the country in 2010. No matter baseball or softball, hitters must have a mental edge. This is a great tool for coaches.
